Was there ever an actual signed contract between T and Marist, or was it a verbal agreement? Also, did Marist provide a reason for backing out?

I am all for discussing the history of great football programs but this is just ridiculous. All the programs mentioned in the title are outstanding football programs. How is someone going to accurately compare a program like Beechwood with a program like Trinity? They are at opposite ends of the enrollment spectrum, play against very different opponents, and draw from very different populations/communities. The only similarity I can see is that both have been successful at what they do.

Well, I realize T lost a lot to graduation, and it sounds like X will have a whale of a team this year, but I don't know how anyone can bet against T winning state this year, especially with X having a new head coach.

If we are talking about which school is currently fielding the top football squad in KY, then I think it is clear the answer is Trinity. They won a MNC two years ago, for Pete's sake! If we are talking about the best program, then it is not as clear cut, since to me, best program takes into consideration factors such as which program gets the most out of the talent at hand, which program consistently has great coaching, etc.

Well, I think we can all agree that Trinity, Highlands, BG, and St. X all have first rate football programs in KY, no matter how you define it.

This is a shame to hear, although I had heard that T would have obliterated Marist. T will have a hard time getting a KY team to fill the spot. Hopefully they can work something out with a team from a nearby state.
