I'm tickled to death for Bobby Joe. He's a heck of a guy, was a heck of a player, and comes from a heck of a family. I'm curious if his brother Brad will be joining him? Brad was a rb/lb at Corbin and lb for UC. He is currently a grad assistant at UC like Bobby Joe was. This good be a good move that Dunbar has made. Best of luck to the Bulldogs. I now have a favorite Lexington school.

Looks good Les. I think 5-8 or maybe even 4-8 could be flopped around without much argument. I too think the Hounds should get a little more recognition. The McCreary game will be tough. Watts is a talent!

I have read many stories from Patterson stating how he has always been a Louisville fan but does not want to go to school there. I believe that he is wanting to get away from home. I'm paraphrasing because I cannot find or remember the exact context but it was something like, "I've always been a Louisville fan but I want to get away for school and do not want to stay here. I'd not want to go too far off though." To me, that sounds good for the Cats. I believe it was on rivals. You could possibly look up his rivals profile and find the stories.

I can understand the argument on both sides. Being a native Harlan Countian, I too am proud of the new facilities. I may not be thrilled with the consolidation but that is another post in itself. HCHS has some of the nicest facilities in all of Kentucky. I also graduated from Corbin and lived a large part of my life there. With all of this said, I think having the game at The Arena is a no brainer. Corbin High School doesn't benefit from this in the least bit unless you consider travel time. The Arena gives each team a chance to play in a larger facility that they would not normally get to play in. It would also benefit the teams by preparing them for their potential trip to Rupp. It sounds simple but the depth perception when shooting at Rupp is a lot different than shooting into a basket with a wall 5-10 feet behind it. The benefit to the fans is another thing. Corbin is an easily accessible city and all the roads are very good. If I was a parent, allowing a kid to travel to the tournament, I'd much rather them travel 25E, the Parkway, or I-75 than I would sending them up 119 or to Clay and Jackson Counties. The seating is supurb and comfortable. Also, it will be an air conditioned place, unlike most gyms that time of year. Finally, it will seat enough people that it cuts out having to do the split sessions. Who in their right mind wants to stand for 1, 2, or 3 hours outside in winter weather to wait on a 2 hour ball game (most of which are obvious on who will win?) Finally, yes the city of Corbin may benefit from the food sales but that is good for the whole area. You cannot build up 10 cities at once. If you build up one city, it allows expanded growth.

I always thought they announced the district players of the year and coaches of the year at halftime of the title game for their respective class.

Witt went down late in the game. I hope he can make it back. He is a tremendous talent. I'd love to see Watkins numbers in games if he didn't play both ways. Hayden playing one way, makes him very dominant late in games when everyone else is on wobbly legs. Great player!

Chene Behannon of Bowling Green is the best player in the state. Is he just a junior this year?

I agree about Corbin being not your typical smashmouth team. They are plenty capable of sustaining huge clock burning drives. However, they are a quick hitting team with a lot of speed.

This game is going to be a dandy, at least it should be anyways. I'll finally get to catch the Hounds in action. I think the South Laurel game is the last one I have been able to see. Being a home game for the Eagles and being nearly unstoppable as of late, I have to give them the slight advantage. However, the Hounds have had the Eagles number lately and that may play a mental factor considering most of the players are back that caused LCA trouble. I think Friday night, you will see the states two best running backs in action. I believe Corbin is better on defense and Watkins' speed may be the factor. I'm going against my thought that LCA has the advantage and picking the Hounds 45-36

Congrats GRC! I had a feeling that after GRC proved themselves last week against Corbin, that they would knock off the Blue Devils. Im taking nothing away from HC but I watched them earlier in the year and didn't think they were as good as Corbin. They have a lot of numbers but I truthfully just wasn't impressed. Again, Congrats to GRC and best wishes to both teams this season.

This game was kind of welll...i dont really know. It was tit for tat in the first half. Finally Corbin just came out and scored really quick. Two of their TD's came from the subs, and the rest were due to turnovers deep in KCC territory or from great punt returns. One thing about Coach Jewell, he won't rub a teams face into it. There have been times as a fan that we wanted to see 70 or 80 on the board and many times it could have been that or even 100-120, literally (due to being alligned with lesser programs). He genuinely doesn't score more than 63-69 points and that includes JV tds. Even a few years ago against the Hounds bitter rival, Middlesboro, Corbin was up 49-7 at the half. They pulled the starters and won 63-7. Same way with Bell County in 2001 when Corbin was up 35 at the break.

The game was 36-34 at halftime. Corbin's staff must have lit a fire under the Redhounds at the break. Caleb Watkins ran wild for 8 TD's (5 rushing, 2 returns, 1 reception, and one called back.) Ryann Fritts had 2 tds as well. Early report had Watkins with 451 yards total offense.

BTW, its 79-34 now.

Steve isn't the type of Coach, you want to tick off. That's why Corbin has such a well ran program and you rarely hear of any mishaps with the players.

Les, you need to post the stats as soon as you get them. I gotta see some of these numbers.
