With Smallwood up top creating Costa like havoc, they can afford to sit deeper. He is very very good at holding the ball and bringing in teammates, or just turning and carrying the ball like a run away freight train.

How did Campbell County give up 6 to Brossart? They played 9 behind the ball the whole game and stayed really compact waiting for the counter. Last night was just one of those nights. Goalie, who is an excellent goalie, spills a routine save and only two CC players are there to pounce on it. Ref may have missed a penalty on Schweitzer's turn in the box. CC hits the cross bar on a free kick. Highlands misses 3 point blank shots at the end of the game. Same thing happened in the JV game. Frustrating night for Birds fans, great night for Camels fans.

Highlands has a game changer right now on offense in Elias Ordonez. With the depth that they have, it makes for an interesting team as the new Varsity players gain experience. Saturday at Trinity will be a good chance to see where they are right now.

My boys are on JV so they don't interact much with the Varsity coaches during training, but the Varsity guys who come to our house rave about them.

The Birds cap off big back-to back wins over the #12 and 13 teams in the Mauher rankings? JV remains undefeated and Frosh get another big win. Quietly momentum builds.

Highlands with a 3-0 opening night win over Holy Cross and weathered out of the Thursday matchup at Beechwood. This week they play Holmes, at Oldham County, and host Lafayette. Thursday and Saturday are going to tell a lot about the Birds. Really wasn't much you could tell from the Holy Cross game as they really didn't challenge in attack.

Let it go. Last year you got your licks in and it was weirdly understandable for all those that grew up outside of Highlands. Now, getting like this after a scrimmage...it comes off as you have nothing else to focus on. Go read a book or something

I saw it as he wants his girls to be mentally tougher in hostile, and/or adverse settings, and he referenced the NDA game as an example of where and why they to improve.

HC lost a TON, and by a TON, I mean about everything you can lose from a team. I don't see how Pikeville doesn't walk through this one.

If they lose to Scott, they are not a top 10 team in 5A.

Where is this game? I don't see Pikeville losing, but I could see the bus ride affecting the first quarter for the traveling squad.

For the kids' sake, I hope that they do, I love it when smaller squads get a chance to go toe-to-toe w/ deeper teams. What is the depth like overall? The Western teams are so loaded with depth that it is tough to match up to.

Final score was 4-2. I looked at Moeller's schedule. This was their 2nd scrimmage and they did 4 team camps in the offseason. Do they not have dead period in Ohio?

I don't know anything about Moeller soccer, but HHS JV won 2 to 1 and Varsity was up 2 to 0 when I left near halftime

Highlands will have a goal scorer. Schweitzer will get 20+ this year. He links play very well and has a howitzer for a left leg. Holmes will chip in double digits. Hedenberg is a threat cutting in from outside. What I meant was that there isn't a player, YET, on the team that can take over. They all play their roles very well inside of the system. I hope that I am wrong and someone steps up to be that difference maker v. CovCath and Ryle.

Highlands is deep even through JV. They are missing one game breaker up top to really be dangerous. I think by the end of the year that they will be in the top 2 with CovCath in terms of Regional favorites.

Not trying out. Just participating to get field time, I believe. Never in contention for a spot and didn't take opportunities from other players. He goes to the school.

From what my boys tell me, the Freshman is part of the Crew DA and can't play in high school. He took part in try-outs and looked pretty secure on the ball and athletic. I don't know about his older brother other than he is considered very good.
