  1. Harrison and his bball IQ drive me crazy
  2. Towns has not improved much strength wise. He has been getting bossed lately.
  3. What offense are they running? Lots of passing but the ball isn't going anywhere. Just stayed at the top of the key...
  4. CovCath quota is filled. I will get back to you when another spot opens. Just kidding....kind of
  5. Great points. Was there ever any PED stuff w him?
  6. Only when it comes to those religious practices impacting public health (i.e. not getting your child vaccinated).
  7. That argument could be used for a lot of guys from that era heading into the Hall. What if you played for a terrible team w/ nothing behind you? That impacts your numbers. We can't play the hypothetical and say that Vlad Gurerro would have 50 more home runs b/c teams tried to pitch around him. You can only use the #s. Based off of them, and what he was as an all around player compared to the other 1st basemen of his era, is he good enough? I honestly don't know b/c I don't know how much of his recovery from injury in his late 20s was steroid aided.
  8. To compare him w/ other Hall of Fame 1st Base sluggers: Mark McGwire OBP. 394 Batting Average of .263 (my math is off on the above comparisons) and 1414 RBIs Harmon Killebrew OBP .376 Batting Average of .256 and 1584 RBIs. Mel Ott OBP .414 Batting average of .304 and 1860 RBI Jimmie Foxx OBP .428 Batting Average of .325 and 1922 RBI Willie McCovey OBP .374 Batting Average of .270 and 1555 RBI Frank Thomas OBP. 419 Batting Average of .301 and 1704 RBI Judging by what he was defensively, do his #s stack up outside of home runs? They were closer than I thought.
  9. From '87-'91, there wasn't a better powerhitter in baseball outside of maybe Canseco. After that, injuries crushed him, and roids ruined him. To be fair, Adam Dunn is a better comparison. McGwire used to walk all of the time, as in 5 seasons with over 100 walks including leading the league in 1998. He had 162 BBs and 70 HRs. His career OBP was .394. That's much better than just being a powerhitter. He just couldn't run. Dunn's career OBP was .364 and he walked over 100xs during 8 times. His batting average is .062 lower than McGwire's. Kingman had a career .302 OBP and never walked more than 62 times in a season and was a career .236 hitter, .063 worse than McGwire career batting average.
  10. So this is the Legends lineup Kremer - St Mary Jefferson - Newport Huddleston and Salter- Highlands A kid from Gray and St Agnes and I believe Conner I forget who else, but that is a very good group.
  11. Give me that patient's phone #. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes
  12. Media isn't racist. It is opportunistic and nothing sells like hate. Nothing leads to hate like divisiveness, and very little is more divisive than black and white issues. One major way to improve race relations is to remove ALL profiteering. I'm looking at you, Fox News, and you money grubbin' reverends.
  13. When Highlands presses they cause issues bc Huddleston plays an excellent rover at the bottom of their diamond. He covers so much ground. The 7th grade as a team are prone to dry spells but the defense is always there. To beat them you need a special talent like Maher, or a team to catch fire like Camp Ernst. HMS 7th still pulled that one out.
  14. Old Fashioned #10 in soccer. Little defensive responsibility, little in goal scoring, but I would spray passes everywhere. Growing up it would have been an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense like Taylor, Tippet, Thomas and the like.
  15. I saw an article mention him earlier in the year and it mentioned that. Makes his year even that more impressive.
  16. School worked out well for many of my family members. I liked it for Law School. Never understood the Fraternity benches or why you join a Fraternity at a commuter school w/out a house near campus, but to each their own.
  17. Was it in anticipation of a very serious call?
  18. What did you expect, Tommy Rees mentored him? :lol2:
  19. I can. Bunning the LT from Highlands was, IMO, the best OLinemen that I watched.
  20. I disagree. Highlands went to Conner and won convincingly. Went to Pius and were whooped. I think that this just means that it is an open region and multiple teams have a very good chance to win.
  21. I haven't seen as much printed press mockery from the US like there is in Europe. Seems like there is a little more tolerance here. Of course, racism in Europe is still alive and strong much more than it is here in the US, no matter how much people want to debate it.
