If you take averages for the whole season then yes. They lost starting QB in scrimmage and made transition to Hentchen during the second game. They then played Dixie and Simon Kenton. At the end of the year, over the last 7 games prior to DeSales their passing game really picked up in efficiency.

NewCath's passing game wasn't all that bad. Desales D line owned them.

As far as I'm concerned, you play as hard as you can for the first half and then let the JV play the 2nd. They scored only 20 in the second half, so it sounds like they did just that. People say the same thing for football. Player your starters for the whole first half (and I argue the 1st possession of the second offensively and defensively). Why is girl's basketball different?

Cardinal fans would fit in perfectly here in NKY. Desales would beat Mayfield. It is ok to admit that. Desales defense was incredible. They did things to NewCath that nobody has ever done to NewCath. Had they not had 4 fumbles that game would have been a running clock. You are never as good as your best game, and you are never as bad as your worst. You are somewhere in between. Unless that was Desales best game, and there is no way that it was, they beat a NewCath team handily. This wasn't NewCath's worst game. They were that much better. IMO, they would keep Mayfield's offense off of the field. The game with Murray was close, but that is the style that Desales plays. Field position and time of possession.

The reason that Cal is a great recruiter and player manager is that he understands how to speak to people. That interview is about as classy as you possibly can get. Hopefully Poythress can make a full recovery. He has the potential to make a living at this game in Europe or the NBDL and that beats sitting behind a desk any day.

I am with you. What I was saying is that this is the type of offense that teams will play come tourney time. This game would be like testing your lifts before a conditioning program. In March, we will look back at this and be amazed at how far they have come offensively.

I didn't see CovCath denying Pangallo the ball as a gimmick. I thought it was man to man and they denied the PG the ball. It is just like over playing passing lanes. If it is part of your overall philosophy, it isn't a gimmick.

I think that it is any defense that your team uses that is completely unsustainable and is either to bridge a gap or to admit that your team has no hope stopping a certain player one-on-one. If you wouldn't do it against 90% of your schedule, it is a gimmick.

Timing for trading guys may have been ok, but what we just got for Latos makes no sense.

This was a great game for UK. Methodical opponent who dictated a slow, half court game. This lays a baseline to judge UK's offense going forward.
