  1. I guess its' all rumors....but I did hear from a pretty reliable source that Hall did not take the job as of yesterday. If Hall applied elsewhere maybe he got a call? Hall was coach of the year a couple of years ago, right?
  2. Jackson City lost starrters Kyle Howard, Jordan Fugate and Chase Thompson. Breathitt lost starter ? Moore Letcher Central lost Warren and most of their starters. Knott Central lost the WYMT mvp, but can't remember his name. Leslie lost Morgan, Day and a couple more.
  3. I'm pretty sure that their JV was composed of nearly all juniors last season....there were 11 or 12 juniors last year and I think that they will be tough next year- they wont lose many games at home.
  4. Some teams played at PCC today. Not sure if it is called a 'team camp', but that is probably what it is. Lee Co won games against Betsy Lane and Knott Central. Not sure about the rest but there are games on through the week.
  5. Just heard that Hall turned down the JCS coaching job.
  6. I hadn't ever saw Hollon play 2-guard. Neeley tried it at times this year and wasn't very effective. If a player is used to handling and controlling the ball it can be hard to adjust.
  7. How would Neeley and Hollon both play point guard? Both play well as long as they are in control of the ball. Just throwing that out there.
  8. There was a chance that WYMT (Hazard 57) would televise the championship game tonight. I don't think that it is going to happen, but does anyone know for sure? The game is at Knott Central tonight at 7 pm and pits Jackson City against Hazard.
  9. How many threes did JBS hit and how many pts did Stepp have?
  10. Gilbert had 34 to lead all scorers but Wolfe is not very strong on defense.
  11. Estill couldn't hit anything in the last 2 minutes. JBS by 10.....66 to 56. Cox played great....Stepp missed a bunch.
  12. Stepp has missed the front end of consecutive bonus ft's. Dixon scored....Estill up by 2, stepp has a shot blocked....JBS scores a 3....JBS by 2.....
  13. For what its' worth.... 14TH REGION 1. Hazard 68.3 2. Lee County 64.0 3. Leslie County 61.9 4. June Buchanan 61.6 4. Estill County 61.6 6. Cordia 57.0 7. Jackson City 52.7 8. Wolfe County 44.3
  14. In the final, Lee had Rich, Fetters and Brandenburg who could have been MVP. Nearly the same situation vs Owsley in the opening round. I don't know how many voted on the MVP award, but I'm sure that each of the 3 were in the running.
  15. You probably can't believe that it happened to start with. I'll let you in on a little secret.....Owsley had two of the best guards in the 14th in Neeley and Smith; and JBS' guards just couldn't quite match them. The way I see it, neither Owsley or JBS had/have much post strength. Another secret....Estill does. Fouls are likely to plague one team or the other and Dixon is strong on the boards. In fact, I think that fouls will determine this one. Overall too many match-up problems for JBS unless Dixon has to sit it out. I'd also say that a lot of those Hindman folks jamming into the gym will be there to see the cru-saders step down.
  16. I don't see anyone taking a cake-walk, although Hazard and Wolfe should be the most lop-sided of the draws. Wolfe has beat the Dawgs' once though, so even that one could be a dandy. Wolfe is playing better their last few games but fouls can put them away pretty fast with their limited bench.
  17. It seems as though everyone thought that Lee and Leslie would play in the first round....and sure enough....the drawing today put them together.. Odds were 1 in 3 of these two playing first round.
  18. I just posted the entire 14th drawing....called in from Hindman, hope that I wrote everything down right.
  19. Hazard vs Wolfe (Mon 6:30) JBS vs Estill (Mon 8:15) Jackson City vs Cordia (Tues 6:30) Lee vs Leslie (Tues 8:15)
  20. Yep, If Estill had won I'd have saw it that way too.
  21. I actually think that could be said of any of the 8 teams......
  22. I may have missed more..... Team..............Cantrall.......Record vs 'Elite 8'...Has not played: Hazard.............68.5................6 - 2.............Lee Lee County.......64.7................8 - 0.............JBS,Cordia,Hazard,Leslie Leslie County....61.7................3 - 2..............JBS,Cordia,Estill,Lee,Wolfe June Buchanan..61.3................2 - 1..............Wolfe,Lee,Estill,Leslie,JCS Estill County.....59.7................3 - 5...............JBS,Leslie,Cordia Cordia.............55.7................4 - 3...............Lee,Leslie Jackson City.....53.9................3 - 5.............. JBS Wolfe County....41.7................1 - 8...............JBS,Leslie
  23. Its' hard to bracket up a cake-walk to the finals for any of the 'elite 8' in the 14th. With 2 of the stronger teams being from the same district (Hazard & Leslie) AND 2 of the weaker teams also being from the same district (Jackson City and Wolfe), this bracket will tend to balance. I suppose that Hazard would be the #1 team and Wolfe #8 but that Wolfe and Jackson City beat Hazard once each this year probably says it all. A few more numbers: Team..............Cantrall.......Record vs 'Elite 8'...Has not played: Hazard.............68.5................5 - 2.............JBS, Lee Lee County.......64.7................6 - 0.............JBS,Cordia,Hazard,Leslie Leslie County....61.7................3 - 2..............JBS,Cordia,Estill,Lee,Wolfe June Buchanan..61.3................2 - 1..............Wolfe,Lee,Estill,Leslie,JCS Estill County.....59.7................3 - 5...............JBS,Leslie,Cordia Cordia.............55.7................4 - 3...............Lee,Leslie Jackson City.....53.9................3 - 5.............. JBS Wolfe County....41.7................1 - 8...............JBS,Leslie
  24. Rich didn't score a lot, Lee Co missed a bunch of threes (only hit 2 or so) and they still won the game. Team defense won this game and I think that Caleb Fetters hurt the Engineers at both ends of the floor; scoring on penetrations and put-backs, rebounding, blocking shots...... Kenny Brandenburg 'refused to lose' and made some incredible shots when Lee was struggling on offense in the second half. Dixon and Christopher made some incredible shots of their own and Reece shot the lights out from the arc. I'm glad that Dixon's season didn't end due to the missed free throw. Good luck Estill - railroad 'em in Hindman next week and if you beat them pesky Cru-saders before we do tell 'em that Lee Co sent you.
