  1. I understand that he is doing very well there as principal. There were lots of problems at SMS when he arrived. I'm sure that principal pay is much higher than coaches pay is . Too bad he can't do both. If SMS' Coach Noble were to ever move up to the high school level I wonder if Tim would consider coaching at SMS. They have a very strong basketball program and more students in grades 7 and 8 than in all 4 years at OCHS. I mean it when I say that its' too bad when someone with his coaching ability isn't coaching somewhere. Sometimes coaching is 'in the blood'. I would suspect that is the case with Tim and it wouldn't surprise me if he reappears as coach at some point in the future.
  2. Neeley has only been out....one game? Just assumed that there is always the possibility that he'll be back. I guess that you've talked to him recently. But then if you've talked to him that's a pretty good indication that he wont be back. Bear in mind that the Owls had one win with Neeley and no Smith; 3 when both Smith AND Neeley were playing; but so far NONE with Smith and no Neeley. Ah well, they have at least 6 more games to play. In my unbiased opinion the Neeley'less' Owls wont win a single game from here on out. If he returns then I think they would win a couple of the 6. Now that may infuriate you, but that is my opinion. I don't think they've had an 'all star' all year, but Neeley was as good as anyone else they have. You know, Cody Gilbert is injured at Wolfe County. Don't you think that it is appropriate to predict their next few games based on whether or not he plays? Same with Owsley.
  3. Owsley's biggest loss was when Coach T Bobrowski (sp?) left the program. I don't know how long he was there, but he will be hard to replace.
  4. Smith may be shooting the highest percentage on the team and leading them in rebounding. A lot of his difficulties on defense may be caused by a lack of help in the interior and I'm not overlooking him next season. Tyler Rich dominated inside and it was in large part because he worked so hard to 'front' his defender that it resulted in numerous fouls. Smith sat out a large part of the game and fouled out mid-way through the 4th. Again, without some interior help defense this will continue to cause problems. K Brandenburg shot a high percentage from the arc to help offset the hot hand of Moore. J Liesegang also penetrated and crashed the boards to help limit Breathitt's offensive rebounding. Lees' entire team ran their offensive sets to exploit Breathitt's interior defense and was pretty patient and selective with their shots.
  5. Are those stats calculated beginning when Collins was injured? Just curious. OBI doesn't play great defense and JBS should win this one easily 3 times out of 4. If the game turns 'run and gun' then JBS should still win but very close.
  6. Without Neeley : Cordia by 16 Never know if he will return or not. Closer game if Neeley plays.
  7. May just do that. Didn't the first Matewan game already have a score posted?
  8. I'm sure that you are being sarcastic, and thats' fine. I'm not implying a conspiracy BUT it aint a rumor--saw it with my own eyes and now its' gone. I'm sure another game took the Matewan games' place, but I don't know which one it is. Actually I may have saved the scoreboard but I haven't found it yet..... There could well be a reasonable explanation....like forgetting who you played when you call the stats in, or forgetting who you were scheduled to play, but that would be rare, wouldn't it? The game was posted for a month. Just curious about the explanation. I personally think that it could be convenient to revise a teams' games and scores a month after they were played.
  9. This morning on the KHSAA/Riherds scoreboard there was a JBS vs Matewan, WV game posted for December. This afternoon that game is no longer there. JBS' total Win/Loss record has remained unchanged and everything balances. How can this be? If a game is entirely removed from the schedule after the fact, then shouldn't it change their overall W/L record? Their record has remained unchanged at 17/4. Just curious as to how a game can be removed from the online scoreboard months after it was played without upsetting the balance. Wouldn't another game have to be added to compensate? I was just checking teams that had played Matewan, WV (like Phelps) and this game disappeared. Interestingly, I had mentioned JBS vs Matewan in another thread (the ridiculous one in the Lee/Breathitt thread) just this morning and now that game has disappeared. Very strange...........
  10. OBI, Evarts and then Riverside.....rekon any of the JBS boys will shoot their arms out of socket before they play Hazard? In baseball the pitchers are careful not to overstress their arms.
  11. Aw come on, you're a doll. Only weak minds think weak thoughts. hhhhmmmmmmm.........
  12. Sorry if I take your words out of context but they seemed to fit so well.... :argue:
  13. So why are you posting JBS stuff on a Lee Co thread? Go do your bashing someplace else. You obviously hate Lee Co very deeply. What have they did to you?
  14. I would agree with that. There just doesn't seem to be much difference in the top 10. Interesting factoids : Lee Co 19/6 Only 3 losses in the region are to the "Central' schools - PCC, KCC and LCC. Country Music Highway classic champions. 14th Regional Champions in the All A. Longest winning streak : 10 Longest losing streak : 2 Weakest team they've lost to : Fleming Strongest team they've beat : Johnson Central Remaining games : Montgomery Co, Menifee Co, LCA, Wolfe Co Owsley first round district. Predict Lee to win their Distrct on their home floor. PCC 18/5 Only 3 losses in the region are to JBS, KCC and Leslie. Longest winning streak : 7 Longest losing streak : 1 Smoky Mountain Holiday Classic champions. Weakest team they've lost to : Bell Co Strongest team they've beat : Clay Co Remaining games : Wolfe, Powell and Jackson City Hazard first round District. I really think this district is a coin-toss at Hazard. Leslie 16/8 Only 3 losses in the region; PCC, Hazard and Breathitt. WYMT Classic Champions. Have not played consistently. Longest winning streak : 8 Longest losing streak : 2 Weakest team they've lost to : Breathitt Strongest team(s) they've beat : PCC, Madisonville-North Hopkins, North Laurel, Pike County Central, KCC. Remaining games : Buckhorn, Barbourville, OBI, Shelby Valley. Buckhorn in their District. Lost 3 of their last 7 games. Brian Hubbard's foot/ankle injury and possible return may be a factor. KCC 9/10 6 losses in the region; LCC, Hazard, Jackson City, Leslie (X2), PCC. Beat both Lee and PCC in overtime and @ KCC. Have not played consistently. Longest winning streak : 4 Longest losing streak : 5 Weakest team they've lost to : Fleming Strongest team they've beat : PCC Remaining games : Owsley, Boyd, Breathitt, Jenkins. JBS first round District. I predict KCC to win their District tournament on their home floor. Hazard 12/9 Only 3 losses in the region; PCC, Jackson and Wolfe. No tournament championships this year. Have not played consistently. Longest winning streak : 4 Longest losing streak : 4 Weakest team(s) they've lost to : South Floyd, Wolfe Co. Strongest team(s) they've beat : Johnson Central, KCC, Leslie. Remaining games : South Laurel, Prestonsburg, Estill County,Cordia, JBS. PCC in their District. John Walker's injury and possible return may be a factor. I really think this district is a coin-toss at Hazard. JBS 17/4 Only 2 losses in the region are to Owsley and LCC. Crusader classic champions. Longest winning streak : 7 Longest losing streak : 1 Weakest team(s) they've lost to : Owsley, Cumberland Strongest team(s) they've beat : Montgomery Co, PCC. Remaining games : Evarts, Riverside, Hazard. KCC first round district. Predict KCC to win their Distrct on their home floor. Collin's injury may be a factor. If I have any of this wrong I apologize. Anyone want to do Jackson City, Estill, Cordia and Buckhorn in the same format for comparison ?
  15. From here on out I don't really think that it would be considered and upset if any of the top 10 beat any of the others in the top 10. Consistency is a big factor. Several teams have lost key players lately and that really mixes things up. 1. Lee 2. PCC 3. Leslie 4. Knott 5. Hazard 6. Estill 7. Jackson City 8. JBS 9. Buckhorn 10. Cordia 11. Breathitt Co 12. LCC 13. Powell County 14. Jenkins 15. Owsley Co 16. Wolfe Co 17. Riverside Christian
  16. Is it a jab to compare schedules between one of the top and bottom teams in the region? JBS has the weakest schedule of the top teams in the 14th and Breathitt has the strongest schedule of the bottome teams in the 14th. I believe that gives them a relative and significant point of comparison. Anyone can see on the scoreboard that JBS outplayed Breathitt on Jan 21 and I never said that Breathitt was better than JBS. Exactly which part of the statement are you referring to or are you including all of it? I fail to see the ridiculousity of any of it. Maybe I'm off target a bit (but not ridiculously so) with the "14W and 6L, give or take a couple of games." part, but I do think that Breathitt would have several more than their current 3 wins if their schedule included multiple games vs Piarst, Riverside, David school, Evarts, Matewan, etc... (not knocking any of these but I think they are down this year). This doesn't mean that JBS is a bad team and it would be ridiculous to say so. If South Laurel played a similar schedule they would still be a great team but people would question them about the ridicularity of it. I think that you are reading more ridiculousness into my post than is there but hopefully I have corrected (it for) you. BTW- has anyone else received negative pm's about the JBS coaching staff seemingly from out of the blue ? Just curious.
  17. Owsley and Jackson City was cancelled, this was the Owsley vs Oneida thread being referred to.
  18. 19th win for Lee Co. Rich played big and Breathitt's big players get in early foul trouble. J Liesegang stepped up and Brandenburg played a solid game. InMyOpinion this young Breathitt is underrated and improving. It just crossed my mind that with JBS' schedule I think that their record would be 14W and 6L, give or take a couple of games. Just a little more 'uumph' and they could easily win the 55th this year. Two of the finest young Coaches in the region in Wright and Hall.
  19. Lee and Oneida Girls still on @ Lee Co : 4:30 Lee and Breathitt JV Boys @ Lee Co : 6:00 Lee and Breathitt Varsity Boys @ Lee Co : 7:30 (senior night) All games are on here. Snow is forecast to begin after 10:00 pm tonight.
  20. Don't get discouraged Estill....Montgomery is usually a good team, especially at home.
  21. mhighfield, Welcome to the JBS/Riverside thread. Things must be interpreted cautiously here.
  22. Jenkins is no cupcake even if they are near the bottom of the 14th. We played them in the first round of the All A. JBS is without their center. It may be closer than people think. Common opponents are Riverside and LCC; Jenkins only beat Riverside by 35, JBS beat them by 60. LCC beat JBS 54 - 57 and split games with Jenkins. Jenkins may have scouted JBS at Riverside and this game is at Jenkins.... I'll go with Jenkins in an upset....62 / 55.
