  1. I've saw both teams play....it could be closer than some think.
  2. Jackson Co and Lee Co are top-tier teams from different regions and Lee came away the winner tonight. Lots of fouls on both sides and both teams shot a reasonable percentage from the line. The score was always close with Lee leading most of the time by a few points. Fouls down the stretch spread the lead to 12. Coach Wright has stepped up the Bobcat's interior defense. Jackson Co's Nick Brumback is as strong a post player as Lee will face anywhere in the 14th this season, and they did a good job of rebounding and defensing him. This game had lots of blocked shots at both ends and not much was easy in the paint. There were also several charges called at both ends. Overall this was a very impressive win for Coach Wright's Bobcats.
  3. I think that Jackson will win this one pretty easily at home.
  4. Lee County scrimmaged Magoffin County at Wolfe Co on Nov. 22. Lee won all 4 of the 10 minute quarters with a combined winning score of about 60 to 29. Lee's JV also won a 'running 20 minute clock' round pretty easily. Lee's overall quickness has improved from last season and their scoring was balanced. Several players are able to play multiple positions. 6'6" sophomore center Jared Pelfrey is out for a couple of weeks and didn't play. Pelfrey may add another dimension to Lee's game by adding some size and depth. Magoffin had decent size and Devin Rice was pretty impressive. Early in the game Rice went up for a two-handed stuff but Lee Co's Caleb Fetters (who is also a high flyer) came from behind for an 'above the rim block' but then fouled Rice before they came back down.
  5. Breathitt and Jackson City will play close. Breathitt should win due to better depth and a stronger inside game (Smith and Combs). This is still a fairly young team. Jackson can win if they play a strong team defense and if Davidson doesn't get into foul trouble. Jackson also may need to stroke a few threes to keep other teams honest and I'm not sure they can do it. A team that plays a decent zone and that transitions back quickly on defense could really pose problems for them.
  6. 17 pts average for 4 or 5 consecutive games in the All A tourney is 'as dominating as anything else in the 14th last season'. For single game dominance, I listed JBS vs Riverside/David/Piarst etc... Don't know why your're so defensive
  7. What was there to make fun of? The schedules are posted, check it if you want.
  8. I could be wrong, but a team with 3 D1 players in the 14th would have NO competition. Same players were at JBS last season and it didn't happen. That's just reality. They do have some good players, and they do have a good coach and probably a good conditioning program. They should have high expectations, but even one solid D1 player would dominate the 14th, and should have last year. Cody Gilbert was the best in the region last year, and he wasn't a 'solid' D1.
  9. Why so defensive lol? The thread is about LAST YEARS most dominating performance in the 14th Region. Not about the 'whole thing'. You're kind of off topic. I merely stated that JBS' huge victories over Riverside and Piarst were among the most dominant in the 14 LAST SEASON. If JBS didn't dominate those games I'll eat my hat. What's your problem? I'll be cheering loud at most of those tourneys!
  10. In the 14th All A, Lee did win. JBS wasn't there, so you must have missed those games. Not every high school team played AAU last summer. They should be proud of themselves, but I'm sure that there were some good teams that didn't play AAU.
  11. Master of the Hardwood - so you are saying that Owsley beat JBS but had no chance against Lee? And that Wolfe beat Hazard but had no chance against Lee? I guess that I don't totally agree with your logic. I'd go so far as to say that Buckhorn was a better team than either Hazard or JBS at that time. Was Lee Co really that much better in the All A? I do stick to my guns and say that Lee County dominated the 14th All A as much as anyone dominated anything in the 14th last year. I gave credit to JBS. The handily beat Riverside 100 - 29 and they cruised over David 113 - 34. No other 14th Region teams beat either of those teams as badly as JBS did. Maybe no other teams in the 14th could have beat them by 70+ points if they tried. Doesn't JBS deserve some recognition for that? Why be so defensive? Good for them if they stepped up their schedule this year. "Dominating performance" is a really subjective topic.
  12. "there really wasn't another team in it that could play with Lee!" That's what I'm saying ! I guess that it's all relative. Lee Co strung together 4 consecutive wins with an average margin of over 17 points per game in the All A. That was as 'dominating' as anything in the 14th last year. The only team that really dominated Lee Co last year was Bishop Brossart. JBS 'dominated' Piarst, Riverside and the David school several times in a convincing fsshion.
  13. Lee Co dominated the 14th Region All A Classic at Hazard.
  14. Scott Co shouldn't have been allowed to play if they refused to play by the same rules that everyone else was playing by. Lee didn't play Scott Co, Tates Creek or Dunbar but did beat Logan WV pretty handily in their first game of the week. HC beat Lee twice, last time by a buzzer shot.
  15. Lee, JBS and KCC were all in the "A" Division. Which teams beat JBS? I know that Lee and JBS both drew some attention during the week. Estill Co played in the "B" division.
  16. Lee Co lost to Henry Clay by a shot at the buzzer, so finished their week at Georgetown with a 10/4 record. 2 of the 4 losses were to Henry Clay and one was to Paintsville in OT by a shot at the buzzer.
  17. I really don't know who was coaching but I doubt that it was their regular one. Lee Co won over Boyle Co late last night to end with an 10/3 record; JBS finished with 11/2 and I think that Scott Co was undefeated. Optional tournament games today with Lee vs Henry Clay at 11:20 am. Lots of teams chose not to play in the tournament---it's been a long week.
  18. I think that Paintsville had 6 or 7 technicals called during the Lee Co game. 3 assistant coaches were removed from the bench and there was some kind of altercation after the game between one of the assistants and a referee. Additionally, one player had 2 technicals and I think that two others had one each.
  19. JBS, Lee Co and Knott Central are all playing in the varsity "A" division (top division). There are 25 teams in the "A" division this year. A few other teams that are in this division : Beth Haven, Paintsville, Bourbon Co, Scott Co, Louisville Eastern, Louisville Western, Henry Clay, Logan WV, Franklin Co OH, Bullit Co, Campbell Co, Clark Co (GRC?), Bell Co, Boyle Co, Shelby Valley ......and a few others. Maybe Tates Creek. Lee Co has won 9 games as of 9 pm Saturday night and have only lost to Henry Clay, Bullit Central and Paintsville(OT). They were 8 and 0 going into the late game last night. Lee only had 7 players and one bench player had a virus and the other has a cracked wrist so fatigue was a factor as the week wore on. Lee's scoring is pretty evenly spaced across the 7 players (avg 6 or 8 each) except for Fetters who occasionally rang the bell for 20 or so with his mid-range jumper. They handled full court pressure well but missed a lot of open shots but still managed to pull off wins in most cases. I heard that JBS lost at least 2 games today but not sure to who. I also heard that Tate Cox played with JBS, contrary to the rumors that he will be playing at PCC this season.
  20. Lee Co. will be at the camp. KCC is probably Knott Co Central. Prelim game on Wednesday afternoon, games every day ending on Saturday afternoon.
  21. Lee Co is at the team camp in Georgetown this week.
  22. If this is all true, then that means that JBS will only return 3 of their first 6 players from last season. One graduate/ two transfers. How should this effect JBS preseason #1 ranking?
  23. I'm pretty sure that last season the JV team all juniors and one sophomore.
  24. I heard that the transfer was the 8th grader.
  25. I have heard that one of the starters from JBS has transferred to PCC. Any confirmation? No names please, unless you know that it is a fact.
