  1. Senior night at Campton; Gilbert played most of the game but his right hand obviously bothers him; Stamper scored some points; Bush played hard as this senior trio finished things up on their home floor. The officials seemed kind to injured Gilbert in his last home game. Lee Co got the job done in the emotionally charged Wolves-den. Rich scored easily under the basket; Brandenburg handled the defensive pressure and hit some long threes; Fetters made 16 of 18 free throws and had 18 points; and the entire team pitched in as needed. Lee won the JV match by 8 or so also. Congratulation to Coach Wright and the Bobcats with an impressive 22 wins in the regular season.
  2. I've posted before that JBS losing Collins will be a factor, but JBS supporters have indicated that JBS has a very deep bench and very competent replacements. Guess my decoder weren't working right. Now now, I've don't think that I've singled out Riverside. Heck, Riverside ain't even the worst team on JBS schedule. I think that lots of people do over-value JBS' inflated numbers and stastics THAT ARE BASED IN LARGE PART ON PLAYING VERY WEAK TEAMS. I have said that I think that playing such a cupcake schedule does not make a team better. That old cliche "You are what you eat" comes to mind.....
  3. I think that Gilbert will save it for their first round matchup vs Breathitt Co even if it is senior night. Lee by 19.
  4. Other than the pre-district attitude, neither team has much to prove in this game. I will be surprised if Cody plays very many minutes.
  5. I would agree with that. I just wonder how much of Hazard's balanced scoring can be attributed to JBS' weak defense.
  6. A big game for the 14th region. I'll take Hazard in a long overdue first round victory vs PCC. Hazard - 56 PCC - 50 In the last eight 54th District Tournaments: PCC 7 wins / Hazard 1 win. PCC / Hazard first round matchups : PCC 4 wins / Hazard 0. PCC / Hazard championship games : PCC 3 wins / Hazard 1 (@Hazard 1998). Hazard lost by 2 points to PCC in their only meeting this year @ Hazard. Hazard came from behind last night to win over the stepped-up JBS squad and PCC came from behind to win over an underrated Powell team a few days ago. Cantrall says Hazard should win it, MasseyRatings probably would predict a virtual draw and so far BGP'ers have only went 4 or 5 points either way. History would probably favor PCC but Hazard on their home floor is a factor. PCC has been more consistent and can play great defense; Hazard can be more explosive on offense- especially Hicks.
  7. Are you saying that Breathitt picked where they would inbound from? I thought that normally the refs designated the throw-in point. Reed was not a big factor offensively (8 pts) but I think that he did what he was asked to do- get Smith into early foul trouble. Neither team shot well from the line, and I think that Breathitt missed 10 or so.
  8. Because of their arrogance I am sure that most 14th region fans will celebrate a little when the crusaders take another hard fall.
  9. Neeley - 19 Smith - 16 Congleton - 4 Wright - 23 Warren - 19 Sexton - 9
  10. Wish I could understand what she's trying to say.... I bought a case of cracker-jax but no secret JBS decoder inside so I guess I'll call their book-store tomorrow and see if they have any in stock. Maybe a pair of rose-colored glasses would help.
  11. Wish I could understand what she's trying to say....
  12. Quotes from previous threads RE this (the second) Riverside game: Where do they sell those secret JBStepp decoder rings so that I can understand what it is that the JBS folks are saying. I don't know if they deliberately spread false information or if they just make a lot of mistakes. I'm sure that they held back a lot in this game or they would have beaten Riverside much much worse. Does Clark now have his own column in the Massey Ratings? If JBS goes down early in their district (which I think they will), I believe that a lot of the blame can be attributed to their coach and his 'cupcake' strategy. Still looks good on those books though....
  13. Estill seems to allow their opponents to dictate the pace of the game and usually still win. Some teams, like Breathitt, Wolfe and Owsley, can become dangerous in fast paced shoot-outs.
  14. Lee County's jr guard Kenny Brandenburg scored his 1000th point in the game last night vs Menifee Co. It was Lee's 20 win for the season also.
  15. I think the Tigers are playing as well as anyone in the Region right now and they are really the only team in the 14th to already have their ticket to the Region pre-punched. Can they win 4 straight vs the top teams in the 14th? 4 consecutive wins ties their streak this year....and that included Jenkins and Riverside games. An emotionally supercharged district championship matchup between the Tigers and the Bobcats is well in the making and may cause a distraction.
  16. I predicted JC by 23 and Robert Smith with 23. Reality is JC by 21 and Robert Smith with 21. Kind of a high ....Was it a run-and-gun game? I think that Kyle Howard had 25 pts. I've always thought that he is a great kid and I hope that the rest of his senior year is a good one.
  17. The more that you deny the more that I suspect that JBS is hiding something....... Surely there is a reasonable explanation for the scheduled revision. Games are cancelled etc.. all the time, but this one had scores posted. Does Matewan even have a basketball team? FYI- Stepp-stats were updated on the same date that the schedule was changed. Check it out.
  18. IT WAS POSTED, SCORE AND ALL!!!! I don't claim to know the details but I am quite sure that you do. Stepp up to the plate and explain or let us continue to think that something fishy is going on with JBS and their mysterious disappearing game. I think that you know full well that the posted score reflected a huge win by JBS.
  19. That is really the only point that I was making- how could a game WITH SCORES RECORDED have not taken place, and then how could it have been deleted. Guess we may figure it out one Stepp at a time.
  20. Names: Jackson City--Kyle Howard (12th grade), C.K.(Kyle) Howard (10th grade), Jordan Fugate, Chase Thompson, Michael Watkins, Dustin Kilburn, Andrew 'Drew' Davidson, Dustin Finchun
  21. You may not be playing baseball now, but if you're not really careful it may be time to start baseball practice over there at Pippa Passes after your first round District match up with your rivals over at KCC. They're playing great right now and I just can't see them giving it up to JBS on their home floor.
  22. You're a doll. I agree with bball king, you make our day with you well thought out postings.
