First, they played 4 games in 5 days, while Mason played 4 games in 4 days. There is a reason those games were wars and it is because they werent nearly as good as some on here would have led us to believe. If you check out the post that you quoted, I did say that I didnt know if fatigue was a factor or not, so I obviously feel like it could have been a factor and in no way did I dscount the fatigue factor. Pay attention.

His points came in the paint off put backs, loose balls, and the like. I dont know how many times I have to say that. He didnt beat Miller off the bounce, shoot over him, or anything like that.

Holmes didnt press nearly as much as you and others led us to believe, that is why I saw very little evidence of this "great" press all week. I was stating my opinion, good or bad, on a team, players, coach, etc. and I will continue to do so as long as I am here.

Not everything, just when it deserves something being said. They are sitting at home, but I wouldnt put that on the kids that will be back. Those seniors seemed to lay down down the stretch for the most part. They also seem to have a pretty talented kid coming in next year for sure, along with another talented kid possiblly coming. Throw in Manning the freshman and there is reason for optimism with SC. My Scott Co. Cardinals? Homer? You forget I am from Bell Co. I just like to state the facts my friend. As for a homer, it doesnt get much more of a homer than you my friend. I gave Holmes credit for playing hard and having a very solid Sophomore class. I just dont think they will be at the level of the SC class of juniors-to-be.

A kid can be talented, but if the coach isnt there to develop the talent it is worthless...

I saw Slone do nothing at the end of the game. If you are going to judge him on things his teammates such as Murray and others did that is pretty sad.

That is a bright side for them. It's too bad SC will probably have 3 of the state's best juniors-to-be along with a top notch freshman class coming in. All that in addition to what they already have in Phares and a class of contributors as seniors.:sssh:

Definitely. I just dont understand why they dont get up and down and use their athleticism against some of the teams they play.

The only thing I saw Arrez prove tonight was that he would be a pretty darn good 6'1 post player. Mason backed off of him and exposed his inability to shoot the outside shot where he went probably 1 of 6 from deep. He went by someone a time or two without the aid of a screen, but most of his buckets were inside on loose balls, put backs, and fast breaks. He didnt even guard Middleton that well tonight, who should have been his easiest assignment. Maybe he was tired from guarding Slone and Sanford the last two days, but he definitely did not prove he was D1 talent tonight.

I just have to wonder about Holmes sometimes, particularly the coaching. Why were they not really coming at them with full court pressure early in the game? They were very stagnant on offense tonight. I dont know if they were tired, but they didnt look the same. What happened to being 10 or 11 deep? I dont get some of the substitution patterns of the coach. Mason played well and was the best team tonight and deserved to win. Congrats to them.

I am not debating that he is a team player and very valuable to what Holmes does. He can do what he does all day and I will praise him. I like watching the kid play. He is a darn good high school player and any team would be lucky to have him. What I am debating is YOU, the Holmes fans putting him up there higher than he should be. Defense is a wonderful asset, but it will only get you so far. He showed how he can shoot the three ball tonight against Mason. They were giving it to him and he made 1 of maybe 6 or 7. The only time he really got to the basket was on ball screens. He plays well inside and is one heck of a 6'1 post player. That a D1 guard does not make. Many coaches have the philosophy that they should go get great offensive players, and they can teach them to play D. I think Pitino has made that statement before.

In addition, he's a player that any high school would want on their team and would start on that team. Not necessarily any college though.

Have you watched him all week? I have. Maybe its a bad week or as GT mentioned to me earlier, maybe he is very tuned in on his D and is losing his aggressiveness on the other end, but he has just not shown a lot to me in regards to his ballhandling, penetration, and outside shooting. Not having a good shot from the outside is all fine and good, but you better have some quickness with the ball if you cant shoot the ball. He has mishandled the ball a lot. He doesnt always turn it over, but there have been many times he has batted it around under pressure and him or another Holmes player picks it up. He might get a drive a game, but with the way you guys built him up I would expect a little more than that, especially when the other guys around him are playing so well.
