  1. Here is what's funny about a select few putting down X's passing offense. Is it great? No. But it doesn't have to be. The X offense doesn't have to throw the ball 35 times a game. They just have to throw it any where from 18-25 times. Now, I don't have their stats infront of me, but there have been references made to the Central game where they threw the ball 5 times I think. Well, is that great? No, but if they can run the ball and beat Central why pass it 30 times just to please everyone? I would like to see their passing stats from the Dutch Fork, Moeller, and the 1st half the Bowling Green game and see how many times they passed the ball. I believe they can throw it when required.
  2. A wise college coach once said, "there is no such thing as a bad offense, just bad players."
  3. Since when has having the ability to run the ball been a negative thing?
  4. Sorry for not reading your previous post, my bad. I believe that if X's starting QB doesn't get knocked out of the BG game they pull out a tough road victory; but that was a good learning opportunity for the entire offense. We know about the key players on both teams, but who are some guys who are under the radar that could have an impact on the outcome of the game?
  5. Well that's a tough way to open the week for the Tigers.
  6. How come Moeller isn't on that list? I like how for BG and Central there is "BUT". X could played and beat the Bengals and I'm sure you still would have said "BUT" it's just the Bengals. Quick is the best player in KY. Comparing Dawkins and Walker is like comparing a red apple and a green apple. They really aren't the different, it just depends on your preference. I'll take Walker because he's taller.
  7. Saint Xavier: Schedules and Rosters Here is a link to St. X frosh. schedule. They've dropped two games, a close game to La Salle and a smack down to Moeller.
  8. Quick is the most dynamic player since Michael Bush. In different ways these two players could change a game in a matter of seconds. It would not surprise me to see X use Walker in a variety of ways starting with the Trinity game. This is usually the time of yar when X starts adding a few "wrinkles". X has two other good RBs in Purcell and Davis, so this would be a geat opportunity to split Walker out and do that forward pass thing every one has been refering to. When it comes to the schedule, it will always be an agree to disagree discussion. X has prepared themselves this year to face Trinity by playing big, athletic, and tradition rich schools. They've been tested and in some close games just like T, so I think each teams schedule provided each with what they needed.
  9. Warren Central will knock of Ballard is fairly easy fashion I believe. This will be another showcase of just how bad JCPS football is.
  10. Of all Trinity's weapons on offense, Dawkins worries me the most. It's like another version of Quick except he can touch it about 15-20 times a game in a variety of ways. With that being said, X needs to sell out to stopping the run (screens = run). Tell those DBs absolutely nothing gets behind you, NOTHING. Make Wright throw an accurate pass for 5 or 8 yards instead of throwing a bomb to a wide open WR 30 yards down field. X's DBs have to play smart and trust the front 7 to do their job in stopping the run. If they do that X will be in good shape defensively.
  11. Trinity has played a tough schedule, but X has played 4 good teams as well. Playing Dutch Fork, Central (maybe 3A, but is taking over for Male in the Big 3 in Louisville), Bowling Green, and Moeller have provided X an opportunity to see how "good" they are and how well they match up to different styles of play. The Fern Creek and Doss game are games that allow everyone a chance to play...they are what they are. I think X is just as prepared from a schedule stand point as trinity is.
  12. I agree...trinity didn't beat X the last two years because they wanted it more. Everyone in that stadium "wants it". We're dealing with 15-17 year old kids playing infront of 30k plus fans, I believe which ever team can relax first usally has the edge. Also, which team can handle adversity. Something is going to happen that is going to cause some kind of set back, which ever team can handle that and not let it carry over to the next couple of plays tends to be in good shape. These may sound like common knowledge but every thing in this game magnified x10.
  13. I believe that this game will be unlike the previous 4 meetings. Haven't decided a winner yet, but I think the game will be entertaining for both sides well into the 4th quarter.
  14. Avid, in regards to X's pass defense, is it a DB issue or a pass rush issue? Or both?
  15. Maybe it's their sneaky way of not showing too much for their next game. :thumb:
  16. What will the Tigers be wearing for their Future Tiger Night festivities? Good luck Tigers!!
  17. They're just upset because X's uniforms are actually school colors.
  18. A few things that I've been thinking about... First, Central has always been a tough oppenent for X even when I frist remember the Tigers taking on the Yellowjackets back in the '00 season. With that being said, Central has never been able to slow down X's "run first" offense. Until they can stop, don't change it. Last years, game if I remember correctly, was QBed by Gahafer. Mattingly said out with an injury. Central broke some big plays which has been a common theme for the X defense the past few years. With that being said, it'll be a good game but X will just be a little too much late. In regards to a previous post about X running the ball on 3rd and 8 against Moeller. If I read correctly, they had to score a TD so they had 2 downs to get 8 yards. So if they had success in the 4th quarter with the run why not run it to make 4th down that more manageable? I believe that X's offense can by conservative in close games, but one thing I will give Coach Chitwood credit for is that he sticks to what is working during the game. So there is no problem with running the ball on 3rd and 8 when you know you're going for it on 4th down. Lastly, I like the gold jerseys; I hope they don't go anywhere!
  19. Uniform question...have the Tigers hung up their gold jersey's? Surprised that they have not worn them yet this year.
  20. St. X wins but it will be another battle. X and Central games have always been entertaing and Central has come close to knocking off the Tigers. Central again, will prove that they are one of the top teams in the state with their performance, but I just think X will be a little too much for them. St. X - 35 Central - 20
  21. So that the JV Tigers beat Moeller and the "Baby Bengals" took a beating from Moeller.
  22. Interesting. Hopefully playing teams like Dutch Fork, Bowling Green, and Moeller can be used as great learning tools for the second half of the season.
  23. Read about the game on Louisville Catholic Sports website. Sounded like a exciting game especialy the 4th quarter. It sounds like a X team that can run the ball and passes effectively enough to keep defenses off balance. What is hard to stomach is how their defense is playing. Typically, their defense is very solid, but the past couple of years there seems to be quite a few more holes in their plan. Can anyone shine more light on the defensive situation of the X-Men? Sounded like a great atmosphere and great effort from the Tigers. If they can build off this game they'll give the rocks all they want and then some.
