  1. I was thinking the same thing. Henderson can play guard or small forward. But I guess Rice would be a better fit.
  2. Imo we may be seeing the same regional final next year too. holmes will be tough again next year: Starting 5: Braeon Avery Arrez Henderson Dom Johnson Josh Nelson Terrence Clark Those 5 won the state AAU tourney for their age division. This is basically the NKY Hawks
  3. Just from hearing about other teams players, this would be my team: Paducah Tighlman: Stephon Perry Covington Holmes: Arrez Henderson South Laurel: Ty Profitt GRC: Preston Knowles Scott County: Bud Mackey Elliot Co: Ethan Faulkner Ballard: Twanny Beckham JBS- Tate Cox Warren Central- Jeremy Anderson Lincoln Co- Ryan Young Christian Co- Cj Trotter Fairdale- Reggie Smith Adair Co- ??? Oldham Co- ??? Owensboro- ??? Shelby Valley- ???
  4. Thanks for the info. Nice to see some people doing some research. :thumb: Do you have a complete roster of Tighlman that you could post?
  5. Great Point, but there are some teams who have complete players who can or will do all of the above.
  6. What are the match ups you think we'll see? you're a little more familiar with PT than me, so how do you think they'll try to match up w/ Holmes?
  7. Yea I agree, thats why I said on the same page and are finally understanding that TEAM concept. lol
  8. If you could choose one player from each team participating in the Sweet 16 to travel around the country and play the top players from each state tournament, which player would you choose from each team to represent your team? (Only one player from each team, every team must have a representative) Let's have a little fun with this.
  9. One player that I believe is a sleeper but you'll see him in all the stats is John Smith of Holmes. Not syaing he's the best, btu definetly one of the top players in the region. Holy Cross- Baker, Ryan Ryle- Humphries, Wagner, Murray CCH- Maile, Bleser, Blazejewki St henry- Kuebbing, SHanks Boone- Farris (probably the best if not, one of the top 2 catchers in the 9th) Conner- Shane ?? (3rd baseman) Sk- Parrot, Jacob RObinson IMO you'll hear about those players every game they play.
  10. 1st Round Winners Lincoln Co Scott Co Fairdale Holmes Ballard GRC Shelby Valley Warren Central 2nd Round Scott CO Holmes Ballard Warren Central Semi's Scott Co Ballard Sweet 16 Winner Ballard
  11. Every team has star players though. For example Holmes has Rice, Hill, Jefferson and Henderson. All 4 have game breaker potential. Take one away and they struggle. A role player would be someone who doen't necissarily score all the points, but rather is quiet but efficient every game. Holmes- Nelson- quiet down low but will get 10 points every game and do an outstnading job rebounding. Avery- Take Jefferson out of the game and you have someone who can come in and distribute the ball and still get the job done Clark- great defender against big men. Won't score as much but knows his role in frustrating the opposing team's big man with his physical defense Role players are someone who do the dirty work while others get the fame in scoring all the points.
  12. I think what NKYboy means is Holmes was without starters all year for different reasons. Since they got their full squad back together, they have only lost one game, and that was to CCH in the district championship on CCH home floor. If you see Holmes on film you'll realize what we're talking aobut. Everyone is finally on the same page and understanding that TEAM concept, which is why they've been playing at such a high level.
  13. Who has Tighlman played with Holmes same athleticism?
  14. Holmes backcourt is the best in nky and probably one of the top 10 in the state. Jefferson and Hill determine everything. If you try to key on them, you have Rice, Henderson and Nelson down low. IMO Rice and Henderson are going to both dominate this game.
  15. I guess it was a misunderstanding then. My apologies. When I say they wont have an answer for them, I guess I should say, Rice, Hill, and Henderson will be the better player than who they're matched up with, so they'll have the advantage the whole night. But as far as being one of the most athletic teams in the state, I'm glad we can agree on that. This will be a great game but Holmes experience combined with their athleticism and overall talent will be too much for the Tornadoes. Another thing is I don't think PT is deep as Holmes. The Dawgs can rotate 8-9 players in and out and not lose a beat. This will be key if Holmes decides to press, which I'm thinking Henley will probably do. A couple questions I have are: 1) How deep are they? 2) Have they faced any other teams with as much athleticism as them? 3) How are they going to respond to a more in your face physical defensive style that Holmes is going to bring?
  16. Actually I have seen film on Tighlman from their regional championship game. My assessment is they're decent overall and good at times. Their problem is too many mental mistakes and shot selection. Not only that but I think their fundamentals aren't very good. Granted Holmes aren't either but I just feel Holmes and Tighlman are the same exact team. A ton of athleticism but Holmes just has a little more talent. This is no knock on Tighlman. They are a good team, otherwise they wouldn't be where they are. I never once said they'd get blown out, but I just don't feel their talent is on the same level as Holmes'. Experience is also going to play a huge role in this game as well. holmes has been there before. Their lack of experience hurt them when they were sophs playing in the sweet 16. They know what needs to be done now. Biggest game breaker of the game is Holmes has 4 players who could take over the game. Hill, Rice, Henderson, and Jefferson are the top 4 players in the 9th region.Guard play will be key. They have played more talented and athletic teams than Tighlman. If Holmes plays as a team, this game will never be in question and they'll hold a 5-10 point lead the whole game. If not, and Tighlman wins, I'll be more than happy to eat crow and congratulate the winner.
  17. When Rice went out Holmes was up 6 with 1:45 to go. As soon as he came out, WC went on a 8-0 run and beat the Dawgs 56-54. Not having his presence down low and scoring threat hurt the Dawgs down the stretch. Not saying Holmes would have won state or even made it but the game would have had a different outcome. Rice was the best player on the floor that day despite being a sophomore. i believe he finished the game with 23 points.
  18. I'm kind of surprised to see Holmes 3rd among vote getters. That's who I voted for though. IMO they can win the first two games against PT and South Laurel but it will be a tall task knocking off Scott Co. But then again last time those two teams met last year at Scott Co, they only beat them by 7 and that was with Greg Rice on the bench much of the game.
  19. If Rice doesn't foul out that game, We would have seen Holmes facing SL that Sat night. Nobody in the tourney could have matched up w/ Rice and that's when he was a soph!
  20. This Holmes squad is starting to play scary good. PT might have a big front court, but Holmes has never had problem with playing against bigger teams. Their athleticism makes up for that and IMO they've played against tougher competition. And IMO they aren't very small across the front court either. (Rice 6'4, Nelson 6'4 , Hill 6'3, Clark 6'5) Pt won't have an answer for Rice, Hill, or Henderson. Here are the match ups I'm expecting. Jefferson vs Hutcherson Henderson vs Buchanan Hill vs Perry Rice vs Jones Nelson vs Mcclure A little bad with names but IMO Holmes has more talent and athleticism at every position.
  21. Alright fans what's everyone's predictions on this one. Holmes comes in winning 12 out of their last 13 and Tighlman comes in winning 17 out of their last 18. IMO this one is going to go to the Dawgs. Holmes has played a tougher schedule and IMO has a little more and talent than Tighlman. It will be close the whole way with Holmes pulling it out in the final minutes. Rice and Henderson will dominate as usual and we'll all see Hill finally break out of his shell. One thing to remember is this Holmes team has more experience and has been here before. 3 out of the 5 starters started on the 05 team and Henderson got plenty of minutes in that game. As Jefferson told a reporter after winning the 9th against CCH.... "Our sophomore year was fun. We were happy," Jefferson said. "Right now, this is a statement. We're going to state to get it done. We're not going to state to have fun. We had fun the first time. Now we're going to bring a trophy back." Holmes 68 Tighlman 60
  22. Thats a little bit more of the insight and info I was looking for. We need to start a new thread about Holmes vs Tighlman
  23. Congrats to all of those young men. I personally know them all and its great to see them all continuing not only their career, but also school.
  24. Hope Tierney is ok but congrats to the Pandas on their win.
