  1. Word on the street is that the big boy practiced with Taylor Co. yesterday. It appears the KHSAA has ruled him eligible. The 5th region is not happy about this and it could lead to open season around these parts. The KHSAA is a joke for even claiming to monitor this stuff.
  2. Just like the privates voted down the "Sphere of Influence" idea where there were boundries set for private schools.
  3. No, you are wrong. They are still responsible for giving them a free, appropriate, public education. They can not show them to the door and say "See Ya". Nor can public school coaches show up at middle school contests, pick out the best players, approach them and talk to them about attending their cross town school instead. Oh, and offer tuition assistance to those that say " We can't afford that ". Sorry I continued for so long but I wanted to make sure you didn't miss my point. Does this kind of stuff go on ? Just curious.
  4. Does St. X have an alternitive placement or do you send them out and wash their hands of them? Just curious................
  5. The kids a beast. He could be an outstanding LB in college. Big, strong and fast. I would for sure give him more touches. Wonder what his grades and test score are like? Don't matter how fast or how big without those grades and test score. :thumb:
  6. Recruiting is hand picking. You are establishing a target, for what ever reason, and you go after them. Would you agree with that?
  7. And that is not difficult when you can hand pick the best of the best.
  8. Exactly
  9. "We have kids that do that. We recruit all students that would desire a Catholic School education. No matter if they are rich, poor, black, white, protestant, catholic, or athiest". So what draws your attention to them if they don't do something special? The word recruit means to activily persue. So your telling me that a student with a middle school GPA of 2.3 and a PSAT score of 13 is welcome at your school? "Yes, students can be removed from private schools for a variety of things. Students are alerted and informed to this when they enroll. Does that mean a one strike and you're out..NO. We want everyone that walks in our doors as a student to walk out with a High School Diploma, and as a better person. It won't happen, but we would not be doing our job if we didn't try to make it so for everyone". Public schools can not throw kids out and say they have done all they can do for them. So, would you say to have a select envirnment is advantagous? Just curious.
  10. Covercorner, So, what I'm saying is that "you all" don't seek out the one's that go to school till 3:00 and leave to work at McDonalds unless they run a 4.4 or play F minor on their tuba. And, if students in private schools cause problems (academic or athletic ) are they not sent out of school. Just asking?????
  11. I don't have the stats in front of me, but as a general observation, we probably actively recruit students who are not great students, great athletes, great tuba players, ect. We let our sucess speak for itself but if you ask what most of the "energy" is spent on in student recruitment, it is on the average to below average, and down to the troubled (behavior or academically) studnets. I don't have stats in front of me either, but I'm saying these kind of kids would have something else to offer a private school or they would not be persued. Athletic, artistic or something special.
  12. I see them as complimentary to each other. The receivers are good, but the QB has to deliver the mail. He was good at that. Not only that, but he was tough as nails.
  13. Very talented group of skill kids. Their offensive system makes them even better. QB is really good and their receivers are good. Next year will be fun.
  14. Well said my friend.... Very good observation.
  15. What they need is a seperate entity that operates outside the KHSAA to monitar and investigate issues that come up. Kindly like the FBI does for the US government. That is a harsh comparison, but you know what I mean. A group that has NO invested intrest in individual schools and weither they make money for the KHSAA. They could report to the KHSAA but their findings would be final. Develop some penilties for rule breakers and go to work.
  16. Outstanding posts...............:ylsuper:
  17. Points made very well. I don't believe I have ever been quoted so nicely. But, in the end, you will defend and I will accuss. Thanks though. Good Luck.
  18. As far a I know, our local public schools don't offer monitary assistance to the students in need and our athletic teams are represented by those who came through our feeder schools, not students from several different counties. Just some observations from some country folk there Fastbreak.
  19. If the private schools had the same set of rules as the public schools, I don't think there would be the finger pointing. As far as punishment, it should be the same for privates and publics. They should be swift and harsh. That would end all speculation of cheating.
  20. That is all right........ It looks like to me that the KHSAA doesn't really want to stop this kind of trickery or they would impose those kind of sanctions against those that cheat. PERIOD........
  21. No doubt about it, Williamsburg will be loaded next year. They have a system that is hard to stop entirly. Plus they have some key games at home next year. Good coaching staff and good athletes. Should be interesting.
  22. PepRock, parents can take there kids where they want for school. They just can't play sports.
  23. Amen...... That kid ( Moses ) can play. I swear he has a rubber arm.....
  24. Seeing how Danville just lost there best athlete to Taylor County (What they have to offer I have no idea) You would't believe me if I told you...... lol:laugh:
