Good bounce back win for the Hounds. 3-0 in the district is very big. I thought their ball movement and defense looked better tonight. You could tell Williamsburg had not played in a couple of weeks. Jackets did some nice things, but the Hound depth really wore on them throughout the game. Josh Smith made some big threes, Barley had some good shots and Blake Hendrickson continues to impress me with his hustle around the rim. Several good days of practice before the Hounds travel to Lexington Catholic to face Largo, out of Washington DC. Largo is supposed to have a 6'11 player that is highly touted and a very good team that only lost one game last season.

Should be a good test for the hounds!

No,Jared Barton did not play, nor will he play based on his own decision since he has told us that he has not learned anything and that his God given talent and ability does not earn him playing time. It is a sad fact the politics is not only prevelant in our community, but apparently it reaches into some of our sports programs. No child, regardless of who they are should be touched by politics. It has no place in our school systems. When it becomes obvious to an 8th grader, we should all open our eyes. I wish good luck to the Jackets and hope the boys keep their heads up. They have talent, however, they need direction.

W'burg continues to have a hard time. Wonder why Crawford didn't dress, maybe just trying to get in better physical shape before their big game in Lexington, the game vs the New York team it was easy to see he was really having to push himself, hope he gets near 100% real soon a great kid and really good player.

Politics having a say in who plays a sport, surely not:rolleyes: happens all the time no matter where you are, some places worse than others. Maybe the past (and I really have no idea) staff was not as bad as many on here made then out to be. Looks like the Jackets still have the same problems.

If you are talking to me I don't even know any of the Jacket coaches and have no need to, maybe you are talking to the person I quoted about outside things influenceing sports.

Certainly a shame that Barton has left the team. He is a fine you talant. On the bright side he is only an eighth grader and can still salvage his basketball career. Would not surprise me to see him in a Corbin uniform next year.

I don't know coach Patterson that well, but from what I have seen of him he isn't going to sit a kid because of anyone's political standing. I may be way behind on this one, so if someone could enlighten me I would appreciate it.

Yes, this is the same kid. Hopefully things work out for him because he is a fine young man with some natural ability.

Jared Barton has not been at Corbin since the 5th grade. So, we don't think of him as the transfer from Corbin anymore, he is a Jacket and he will graduate as a Jacket. Jared has decided it is time to concentrate on baseball and football. Will he play basketball anymore? That will be up to him and we support him with that decision.
