  1. Someone should show that program to the Chicago Park District. They think that: It looks like the Male football game was not only the first football game but possibly the first event held there. http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/custom.soldierField
  2. He coached at Clay County in the 1940's and 50's.
  3. Not to threadjack.....but it is the community's school. The kids are there for a short time but the community has to live with the name.
  4. Not only is Trent Calhoun back and healthy but Braxton Miller is back and healthy for Lincoln County. For what its worth, this will be Lincoln County's best team, on paper, in the last 6 or 7 years. If they stay healthy, they will be a playoff contender.
  5. He and his brother were playing varsity football as 2nd and 3rd graders, if memory serves me. Their father, Alvis Johnson, was the coach.
  6. I was talking to one of Marty's former assistant coaches last night and I told him that Marty knows what to do with running backs. I am predicting the "bone" and the "broken bone" and (at least) three 1,000 yard rushers for Mercer County in '06. A wise man once said, "There are only three possible outcomes when you throw the ball and two of those are bad."
  7. I am assuming that Marty Jaggers will be the Head Coach. Will the Harrodsburg coaching staff be "merged" into the Mercer staff? Is there a plan, yet?
  8. I assume Rice Mountjoy coached at Danville High School prior to this time period?
  9. Then why not have the mascot be a set of golf clubs instead of a scottie dog? A little "mop dog" doesn't exactly strike fear in opponents.
  10. Somebody should start a research service. It was easy when I was in college and could spend a few hours at a time looking through microfilm but now I don't have the easy access nor the time to find the articles. I have certain schools that I want to research and I would be willing to pay somebody to shoot the articles for me. I have tried to hire high school kids to do it at the local library but it never works out. If anybody wants to do it, I will make a deal with them.
  11. None that come to mind. Thanks for not pointing out my misspelling. I was really multi-tasking at that point and didn't review my spelling.
  12. This is a completely uneducated guess but I think the districts are merging into a single school but will have two seperate campuses until the new school is completed.
  13. I think it is a foregone conclusion that it will be Jaggers.
  14. They should be the Mercer County Pioneers. I never understood the Scottie dog as a mascot. Pioneers is a good match with the Fort Harrod history.
  15. That's a great point. Is there any talk of bringing Burgin into the fold?
  16. I have posted the Lincoln County-Rockcaslte County series history a few times but if you need those scores from 1974-1984, PM me.
  17. Exactly, Hatz. I respect both programs but to say that this one is not even close in favor of Russell is an example of having blinders on. For those of us who remember Rockcastle back in its infancy, we have a lot of respect for what Rockcastle has done in the last 15-20 years.
  18. I don't have the numbers but maybe 3wishes or somebody from Rock can give us Coach Larkey's career stats. I think you will be surprised.
  19. No contest? Tom Larkey is a heck of a coach. He took over a Rockcastle program that was mediocre, at best, and turned it into a solid, consistent and winning program. Rockcastle's coaches work hard and they are always well prepared. I have never known Tom Larkey to be outcoached and your comments are condescending and degrading. Ivan McGlone is a legend but I think Tom Larkey is/will be too!
  20. This is a great quote and points out something that we should all keep in mind when following youth sports:
  21. He was the offensive coordinator at Lincoln County. Good luck, Brad.
