  1. Lincoln County High School, Class of 1983! My younger brother and sister graduated in 1986 and 1988, respectively. I probably knew you in another life.
  2. See BGP Rule #5. 5. No divulging or attempting to determine any member's true identity. That includes dropping hints about a user's identity or asking a member who he or she is in a public forum.
  3. Is a 17 point win a blow-out? I guess it depends on the game as a whole. Did Lincoln dominate or finish strong?
  4. I checked out this broadcast for a quarter or so. Is this a college project? Quite a contrast to the Mayfield broadcast.
  5. :thumb: I'll try to check you out tomorrow.
  6. I listened to this one for awhile, too. :thumb:
  7. I listened to this last week for the semi-final game with Bardstown. Informative broadcast but I had a hard time with the use of the word "we" by the Mayfield announcers. I am assuming the color commentator was a former coach. It sure sounded like it. Use of the word "we" by broadcasters when referring to the team me cringe.
  8. Are you listening to the KHSAA website feed? I am getting a crackling audio. I can hear it but it isn't great.
  9. They do it in Illinois. 8 games on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. 4 each day with starting times of 10:00, 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00. It works well. I watched all 8 games on television this year. Hopefully, we will be back there live next year.
  10. If Birdsfan is out, then so am I. Seriously, I found out yesterday that I have two grade school X-mas plays on Friday night and three basketball games on Saturday. Life gets more complicated as kids get older. The KY Finals have always been a great weekend for me. I get a chance to meet up with several friends and enjoy the football and catch up on old times. Maybe next year.
  11. Based on this comment, I clicked on to listen to the webcast. Wow, it IS horrible! If you can make heads or tails of the game from that broadcast, you are a better man than I am.
  12. I just re-read your post to see if I missed something. You stated: I replied: I don't see how I am misinformed. We'll just have to leave it at that.
  13. Ask anybody you want in Lincoln County whether I am misinformed or stupid about this subject. Ask Coach Jaggers if you want...I think he will agree that I am knowledgeable about it. PM me if you don't know who I am and I will give you my name so you can ask around.
  14. I remember him. According to the Kentucky Broadcaster's Association website, he is still active in radio in Western Kentucky.
  15. Everybody that I know, which are the majority of LC fans, were sorry to see Marty leave. Anybody who made a comment like that was probably bitter and probably not "in the know". I think Marty contributed quite a bit to Danville's success from 1997-2004, too. Obviously, Danville won a lot of games before he came there and they will continue to win games now that he is gone. I don't think anyone close to the Danville program questions Marty's contributions there. Danville is one of the top three programs in the state of Kentucky, IMHO. They have been winning football games forever. Most schools would give anything for a 12-2 season. Danville fans are disappointed. That says a lot about their history and prior successes.
  16. That is very impressive! Does he still have room to improve, talent-wise (which is different than just getting experience, IMHO), or is he an early bloomer who reached the top of his skills early? I would think that the future is very bright for him regardless. Congrats to all.
  17. You are painting with a broad brush. I do not know anyone at Lincoln who (1) badmouthed Jaggers, (2) was glad to see him leave or (3) didn't like winning. Your comment is stupid and misinformed.
  18. You guys did "match" when Perkey was buying staff shirts!
  19. I told this story before but it bears repeating. Back in the mid to late 80's, Steve and I were both calling a basketball game at Danville high school for different stations. Steve was working without a color commentator and had a hand-held microphone on short mic stand on the table for crowd noise. Steve is calling the action when all of a sudden he gets a surprised look on his face and turns around to see his young son speaking into the microphone: "Hey, Daddy, what's going on", or something to that effect. He quickly potted down the source and went on without missing a beat. We got a good laugh out of it afterwards but the look on Steve's face was priceless. Also, if memory serves me correctly, Steve's first play by play was a basketball game while he was still in high school. The way that it was told to me, my dad turned the mic over to Steve for the second half or the 4th quarter or whatever it was. Soon thereafter, a fight broke out on the floor. From his crow's nest vantage point above the old Stanford High School gym, Steve went from play-by-play to blow-by-blow: "There's Cornelius with a right hook,....etc." Ask him about that one, Rebelbred! :thumb:
  20. That is one of the funniest things I have ever read on BGP!
