  1. Congrats to Coach Jackson and the Patriots. They got the job done as the rest of the region is eliminated and pondering next season...the Lincoln County Patriots are the 12th region champs.
  2. I can tell you that no one out works Wayne. He is a great coach and an equally great guy to talk X's and O's with, he knows his stuff. Congrats and Good Luck Owensboro!!
  3. Fraliex had a "poor" shooting night for him and still scored 21 in around 16-17 minutes. He is a very good player at the high school level! Congrats to the Tigers. Phil Gibson of Henderson will have some suprises for Caldwell but Caldwell has been playing well lately. Monday should be a great game. See you there!
  4. When Providence is absorbed into Webster next year the 6th will go back to 3 teams boys and girls. That's the way the numbers fall. Unless there are changes I am unaware of.

  6. In all fairness I feel compelled to mention that Providence in Region 2 is being absorbed into Webster County next year. Some of their better players have already left...Darnell Moore 6'6" Soph or Jr. all-region performer at Madisonville-North Hopkins, and Labrice Williams 6' Soph. PG is already at Webster County he is a part-time starter/6th man. If those two were there their record would be different, they only have 26 or so boys left in the high school at this time. From all I hear the David School has the lowest enrollment in the state. I wish them the best.

  12. UHA has struggled early but have things clicking better now. They have some chemistry issues that are being resolved. 6' 7" Hopson and 6' 10" Langhi will be tough to stop. Their guards can make you pay from 3 as well. UHA is always a good pick considering their history in the class "A". Don't let their record fool you for a minute...unless you are ready to go home and out of the tourney. UHA can be beat, but will they...history shows that in the class "A" tourney they are not beaten very often!
  13. Some of those guys may have grown up in Hoptown but were not in the UHA school system until later. Private schools must recruit students...some just happen to be exceptional basketball players. UHA is a good example of this. A high school of 100+ has a great basketball tradition. This year UHA has a transfer from Nashville. He just happens to be 6' 10" and has a well known basketball family name of "Langhi". There may have been some transfers on those teams, I am not sure. This may or may not exclude UHA from the argument, with that being said, those UHA teams and some of the other UHA teams would be a worthy foe for Huntington.:thumb:
  14. Why stop at 4 have 5!:thumb: 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and Private. We could have... 1A State Champ 2A State Champ 3A State Champ 4A State Champ Private "Best Recruiting" State Champ:jump: No seeds have a blind draw for the (KCS, formerly the BCS) State Champ.:ylsuper: We should move toward a "bowl" system instead of the current playoff format. Hey, it works for NCAA football. We will be so busy counting $$$ we won't have anything to discuss...RIGHT?
  15. 2nd region UHA is 0-fer this year. Tough schedule? Yes, but we ARE talking about UHA. The 6' 10" Langhi better be good right away or they won't come close to pre-season rankings or the tradition of UHA. 3rd region McLean County is undefeated and playing well early. Could they be a dark horse in the 3rd? Region 3 class "A" favorite? :dancingpa Stick around it is a long season and we will find out more about these two "suprises".
  16. Some rebounds are never controlled but knocked out of bounds. Those are considered team rebounds but aren't supposed to be given to any desinated player. 1 and 1 free throw misses, the last shooting free throw misses are also counted as individual rebounds. If both teams shoot a combined 60 free throws a game it is possible for a player to get 30-35 boards just from free throws. Free throw shooting percentage would be horrible but rebounds would look good. If you have one "big" kid that can hold his spot and leap he is going to have 20 or more rebounds from free throws alone.
  17. I am not sure what happened with WKU could be they still have Ty Rogers from 15 miles down the road in Eddyville. Maybe? I would love to see a good game of horse between these two sharpshooting young men. Only rule would be nothing inside the 3 pt. line.
  18. Matt Fraliex a 6' 4" guard from Caldwell County announced he would attend Murray State next year. He is scheduled to sign a national letter of intent sometime next month, as reported in the Princeton local paper, The Times Leader. Matt is a pure shooter from deep and very accurate from the free throw line. Good luck Matt.
  19. As above, Providence Ind. will be absorbed into Webster Co. next year. There is a wealth of athletes at both schools...next year Webster will be out of the class "A" in basketball but will have a great athlete pool to choose from. Good thing! Because both were in the same district as much bigger schools like Henderson Co. and Union Co. The reason given for the absorbtion/merger, what else, finances!! Providence won the 7th district beating Hopkins County Central in their swan song before they went to Henderson's district.
  20. Hopson UHA 6' 5" Junior Heck of an athlete! Darnell Moore Madisonville North 6' 6" Junior Johnathan Hood Madisonville North 6' 3" Soph. Ethan Scott Dawson Springs 6' 3" Soph. These 3 played on the same team at blue chip and I was told they won the camp tourney.
  21. Top dogs: Henderson Co. Christian Co. Madisonville North Underdogs: Providence Lyon Co. Dawson Springs
  22. '09...Just wait and see!! There are some really good Sophs out there.
  23. I thought they had. I heard about the 6' 10" player. I do know that Scotty Hopson is a fantastic athlete with a soft and smooth shooting stroke. They will be favored, as I said, again!
