Both sides of the ball on the line need work and Boone is throwing a nice tight ball but is just under-throwing or over throwing. There are times when the receivers were open and just didnt catch it.

Any thought from anyone else who was there or any Lawrence fans?

It was a 10 play format.

Just got back and it was a good scrimmage. All 3 teams looked rusty and you could tell that it was the first one for all the teams. Raceland looked great on both sides of the ball and their offense seemed to run real smooth without much hesitation. Defensively Raceland is QUICK and really fly to the ball, they tackle well and played together as a team. I look for big things from Raceland this fall. Lawrence County looked good on defense except one series against Raceland where they looked wore down and gave up a touchdown in about 4 long plays. Saw a lot of arm-tackling from Lawrence as well. After that Lawrence County locked down on defense and was only scored on once on Varsity the entire time I was there. Lawrence County offensively looked rusty and confused at times with the new offense but had MANY MANY open receivers who just dropped the ball or were over-thrown. Fleming County looked good on offense when running the Maryland I with their BIG running back #33, not sure on his name. When they went to the spread they had some success with it. Fleming needs a lot of work to do on defense because Raceland and Lawrence both moved the ball on them. I may be wrong or I may be right in what I saw but this is what I was watching for and this is what I saw the time I was there. When I left they were still scrimmaging. EDITED FOR CONTENT

HOPEFULLY, we will see some great things on Saturday morning. I was one of the lucky people who got to experience Lawrence County football through the 90's and its a great time to be a Bulldog fan when times like those were around, man I miss it something awful.

Not to say you are wrong but everyone in the state looks impressive until they scrimmage someone.

I dont think anyone really knows. I have heard all these teams are scrimmaging but Lawrence County can only scrimmage twice so its hard telling.

Like it was already mentioned just practice early in the mornings or later in the evenings. I know Lawrence County was practicing from 5-9 to beat the heat.

From what I have seen I do agree that the team and players seem like they are having more fun with it and be able to run everything from sideline to sideline.

It will take a while for the football team IMO to get use to how the new offense is suppose to look and run.

Gerad Parker was a great receiver here for LC and could catch anything we threw at him or his way. I once watched him catch a ball off of a defenders back and still hold onto it. But I look for Raceland to expose LC some Saturday and for LC to make changes as needed. Finally, its football season and I just cant wait to see some hitting going on Saturday in Louisa. ABOUT TIME!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering about that but didnt want to mention anything in case I was wrong about you being the QB coach last fall. Anywho, I think if LC can get some much needed confidence and heart then they could be in for some great things this fall. We will see some things on Saturday when Raceland comes to Louisa. I would love to come to Louisa on Friday night and have the entire home stands full to where you cant get a seat, to me thats the most fun time of all. Great article though, look for LC to be the district favorite to win it.

Its been that way around this part of the state for a while. I think if LC can just gain some heart and confidence then they should be alright.

Hopefully LC will test your corners and DB's often so you guys can make changes before the season starts.

P.S. Anytime you can bring heat on the QB and keep him on the move and keep him from setting his feet is good. Like I was always told, " its hard to throw a football when you are on your back. "

Its just basically play some sort of nickel defense while keeping your linebackers playing zone looking for some sort of draw or veer from the QB and RB. You just want to keep everything in front of you on defense and make sure the intial tackle is made and yards after catch are kept to a minimum.

I just say this because what I have read up on their new offense is that its designed to keep the ball in the air a lot.
