Why don't these two teams play in the regular season? Rambler, is it b/c of scheduling or some other circumstance that I am unaware of.

:thumb: Thanks fofkf. I know that this one will help Raceland and expose some things that need to be worked out before the 24th. That is what scrimmages are supposed to do.

We used to play Louisa (LC) years ago. It was always a battle and one I looked forward to each season. Scheduling is probably the reason for them not playing but I am not totally sure. Maybe in the future the Rams and Bulldogs can play once again. It would be a great atmosphere as both schools have great Tradition and a strong fan base.

I honestly don't remember why, I do know that there were a few years that Lawrence was so dominate in the games that it really didn't help Raceland or LCHS. Each of our Districts also changed with the addition later of LCA in ours a place had to be made for them. Maybe with this new district re alignment the two will be able to renew the series. Most of the games were very good, hard hitting h.s. football.

Just got back and it was a good scrimmage. All 3 teams looked rusty and you could tell that it was the first one for all the teams. Raceland looked great on both sides of the ball and their offense seemed to run real smooth without much hesitation. Defensively Raceland is QUICK and really fly to the ball, they tackle well and played together as a team. I look for big things from Raceland this fall.

 

Lawrence County looked good on defense except one series against Raceland where they looked wore down and gave up a touchdown in about 4 long plays. Saw a lot of arm-tackling from Lawrence as well. After that Lawrence County locked down on defense and was only scored on once on Varsity the entire time I was there. Lawrence County offensively looked rusty and confused at times with the new offense but had MANY MANY open receivers who just dropped the ball or were over-thrown.

 

Fleming County looked good on offense when running the Maryland I with their BIG running back #33, not sure on his name. When they went to the spread they had some success with it. Fleming needs a lot of work to do on defense because Raceland and Lawrence both moved the ball on them.

 

 

I may be wrong or I may be right in what I saw but this is what I was watching for and this is what I saw the time I was there. When I left they were still scrimmaging.

Thanks for the information fan. Sounds like it was a productive day for all three teams. Glad to hear that Raceland and Lawrence did really well, I of course will be following Raceland, but I will be watching Lawrence Co very closely as well. Good luck to Lawrence.
