I wouldn't mind Shelby winning. I am partial to the 9th region though we were there rooting on the Colonels!! I think it was a shame they lost this game after being in control 9/10 of the game!!:confused:

Shelby County won this in overtime 54-49 don't hold me to this score but I know they won .

Since when has this been determined to be the best Regional in the state?? I would bet the folks in the 11th would agree. I wonder why they play the 11th in a neutral site the Frankfort Civic Center. Could you imagine if Lexcath or Scott County got to host the region like Mason does???

Do they actually vote on this every year?? I know I just went down to Henry County to watch SK play and found out that it is written in blood or something like that, that Henry has been hosting that tournament since 1962. I guess the reason they do it is because of money. I know if I were Paris and I had a once in 15 year team and I lost to Mason at the Fieldhouse. I would have to reconsider my vote!! I for one have always traveled to watch the better games. I think a lot of this hosting is a matter of convenience. I have always preferred the smaller venues where you had better get there early or not bother coming at all!!:thumb:

I will enjoy watching this game. I watched South laurel's state championship run at Rupp last year! I haven't watched John Hardin play, but they beat Elizabethtown. That says something right there!! I say you flip a coin here!:thumb:

I gotcha now!!:thumb: !! I too don't think that we are too good for our 8th region couterparts. Simon Kenton is in the southern part of Kenton County. There are three primary public High Schools Scott High School, Dixie Heights, and Simon Kenton. Kenton County policy is the three schools must play each other twice. Sk also plays in a seeded District they have to play Walton, Williamstown, and Grant county twice. That is a total of 10 games that are mandatory. Simon kenton has been in the 9th region forever. I hope they keep playing Boone County, CovCath, Conner, Ryle, Holmes, and Highlands and Newcath. That is 17 games I think they will probably play two tournaments next season, They Toyota classic and probably in th 5th 3rd. That doesn't leave a lot of getting to know our 8th region cohorts. I think they will get a home game against Oldham next year. So when I say that I wish that SK was still in the 9th I was misstating what I meant. I hope they keep the games they have traditionally had with the 9th region schools. On a lighter note what do you all thinks Coach Hicks is saying about the new realignment?? I can get used to Henry County. I just hope they break out the pinto beans and corn bread next year instead of the Bar-b-que. There is plenty of room to break wind in that building!! :thumb:

Not really Jim I will travel anywhere to watch good basketball. I just threw this out for discussion to get some responses. What I am getting out of the Shelby and Oldham people is they like things status quo. I also know that because of the realigment and having to play in a seeded district we lost three quality games this past season. Highlands, Newcath, and Bishop Brossart. I tend to go on rants so excuse me if it has annoyed anyone. I think what you all are trying to tell me is it is a money thing. I can and will have to deal with that .

I think Simon Kenton finished 0-2 against the field, Losses to Shelby and to CovCath.

This thread was meant in no way to make sour grapes over Sk losing to Shelby. I am a diehard SK fan but if you take time look at my regional picks in the contest. I picked Shelby to win. I was just wondering about how everyone felt about Henry hosting this venue year after year?? I haven't been to Shelby County's gym or to Oldhams?? I am not lobbying for it to be in SK"s gym either. I am used to tournaments like the LIT. The Toyota Classic, The AIT, and of course I have been to the 5th 3rd Classic at Lexcath. I just thought it was a antiquated gym . I am sure the people of Henry County work hard at hosting this. I just felt there was a lot left to be desired. The second night I was there we had to park way in the back by the football field. I was ok walking back to the gym with my teen-age sons, but I thought they could have ran a shuttle for the elderly. I also noticed that this is a real convenient location for Shelby and Oldham Counties. I am guessing it is only about 15 or 20 minutes for both schools, am I right?? Hence they should have the largest followings. When SK played in the 9th region's tournament they usually had it between three locations Ryle, Holmes, or Conner. They all had blacktop parking and you knew to get there early.

If you are referring to Sk they are in Kenton County not Boone!

I wasn't making light of Henry's lack of Sweet Sixteen appearances. I was referencing their lack of 8th regional appearance's. I would hate to be hosting other schools fun year after year. I was just saying they would probably pop the metal top off of that barn if they played in and won the 8th!!

I do have to point out you might want to rethink your #2 point calling out Scott County. Now that I stirred this up I think Scott High school got the better Regional realignment. Mason County's fieldhouse is one of my favorite venue's. I really equate that big barn of Henry's to the saying "if you build it they will come" pre 1962 I could see where the cornfield was!:thumb: Wilcat legend good to see you are back!! I for one wish they hadn't left the 9th. I think you are getting your panties in a knot over nothing!! I also think that this has been the Scott, Oldham, and Shelby County invitational so long that is why I struck a nerve here!! I am sure that Scott or Oldham could host this tourney. Seating is never a problem with my my crew we come early and get the better seating. I also know that Scott county is no longer in this region but they do a first notch job hosting events! I want you to honestly address this as well.......New Castle for a final destination??? I would not have a problem paying twice either . The only reason I mention the 44 year absense of Henry Counties is this, I think if they were actually in the regional tournament they might liven up the place.

What is up with Henry hosting the region??? I was amazed at how antiquated the whole situation is. I can't believe they try to pass sound throught that white reflector throughout the whole cavernous place!! I thought the announcer did a better job in the finals than in the earlier games. I also noticed they played no music??? I was told that the only time they won the 8th was the year the place was built 1962. Talk about a storyline like "Hoosiers" if the were to ever get another team after a 44 year absence!! How does everyone else feel about this venue??

I will be there with my Pioneer Posse cheering on those CovCath Colonels.

I did leave one thing out of my above post. Is this the first game in a long time that Shelby didn't get to throw down a dunk?? Can anyone fill me in on who Shelby loses this year. I know SK returns 4 starters Hester, Elbert, Hurd and Blevins.
