  1. 29-3; Apollo field goal on a 4th and goal from the 16 yard line
  2. 29-0 HH with 47 seconds left in 1st. Apollo bus will be pulling into the school parking lot at about 9:00pm at this rate.
  3. 84 yard touchdown pass from Heritage Hills 2 plays later.
  4. Apollo takes the ball to the HH 3 yard line and gives it up on downs
  5. 22-0 Heritage Hills with 3-ish minutes left in the first quarter
  6. 100% agree with all you have said about John. its hard to break a mindset of mediocrity when it permeates an entire student body.
  7. Heritage Hills starts the running clock early in the 3rd quarter.
  8. Sort of what I predicted. Even though it was close going into the half, Murray scores quickly after the break, sails deflated, and they pour on 3 TD’s in a row. Apollo athletes cannot handle adversity.
  9. I’m torn on this one, so here goes: Apollo by two touchdowns UNLESS Murray scores first or the game gets any level of chippy/controversial. One thing Apollo hasn’t been able to do for several years is recover when things aren't going their way. The entire sideline gets deflated and lands in “here we go again” land.
  10. This comes to the utter shock and surprise of no one. The entire city of Louisville is a dumpster fire. Was traveling through there on an ambulance transporting a patient to Norton's two months ago and passed by two cars shooting at each other. I'd love to be able to say that surprised us, but my partner and I just chalked it up as "Louisville being Louisville."
  11. Bad look for a coach to take to social media. Let the trolls troll each other.
  12. Personally, I think if you can't control your emotions in a practice game of all things then you have no business playing the rest of the year. I'm sure that's not a popular opinion. These kids are too mentally weak to play.
  13. This is pathetic. High school sports used to be about training kids to be mentally tough. Those days are long since gone. Coaches failing to do their most important job: teaching and enforcing "soft" skills that will allow these young people to become employable.
  14. We raised a little over $19,000 with a "phone-a-thon" or something like that. I can't remember the exact name of it. Kids got together and sent 35 text messages with a link for an online donation. Then they turned around and called those same 35 people to let them know it was legit. Then they shared it on social media. The initial return was $12,000 in an hour. The company that did the online portion took 20% up until $10,000 was reached, then their cut for all of it dropped to 10%. On the first wave, we totaled about $14,000 and the other $5,000 came over the next 2-3 months from people who had seen it online but didn't have the money at the time or forgot about it until they saw their athlete around the holidays. There's several of these companies out there. "Phone-a-thon," "moneydolly," etc Some school systems don't like it, but if you are in one that does, it's effective. If a school system had half a gnat's brain, they'd do one fundraiser a year for the entire athletic department and could probably fund it all with one of those.
  15. From the balcony with every hand raised and every eye closed…. you know, because that’s what it would probably take.
  16. So, someone with an actual stat book may have better info than I, but here’s how I remember it. Woody was the leading scorer in Graves County History at least until I entered high school for my freshman year. This is impressive because that was only based on one year’s statistics. I came around 10 years after he graduated. Prior to his senior year, Graves Co was made up of 7 smaller high schools that consolidated. So Woody had 3 seasons of statistics at Wingo High School and 1 at GCHS. He averaged between 25-30 points per game his senior year and held that leading scorer spot for somewhere around 15 seasons. I wish I still lived in that area. Would love to get back there and see some of the kids of the guys I know play. I’ll refrain from hijacking the thread any further, but thank you for making that original post.
  17. Gosh, I'm showing my age here. Does Miles belong to "Woody" Woodfork from Graves County? He grew up down the road from me. May be the closest thing the little town of Wingo has to a "hometown hero."
  18. Is that Dan's son? If so, it wounds like the apple didn't fall far from the tree. His dad was an unbelievable player in the mid-90's. The only player that really tore up Graves County when I was a student there. Of course, Dan went on to a great college career, but fizzled out in the NBA. If he'd played in the NBA today at 6'10 or 6'11 with his ability to shoot from outside, he probably would have flourished, but he just wasn't big enough to bang with the big boys back in the day.
  19. Sadly.... Supervising an ER when a patient attempted to rape one of my nurses in one of our back rooms. I approached the situation calmly intent on just keeping him around long enough for law enforcement to get there and do the dirty work. When he swung at me, all bets were off. By the time the 6 male nurses/techs working were done, they transported him from our ER to the local trauma center for medical clearance prior to carting him off to jail.
  20. Yep, you’re exactly right. Went to high school with one of each and was in the middle of a night shift when I confused myself.
  21. Is this the same Sullivan that coached at Hopkinsville for a few years? If so, I went to high school with him. He learned a lot from one of the winningest coaches in state history, Alan Hatcher. Wish him more success in the future. Great guy to be around, his brother too.
  22. Unfortunately, in his annual speech via the rules clinics, the KHSAA commissioner would have you walk out of a restaurant where one of your athletes was eating if you walked in on dead period. That may work in big cities, but is not feasible in a one-horse town with one restaurant.
  23. Granted, I'm not in education, but in healthcare. I had a professor in grad school who didn't have a license to practice because of a drug/dui related offense. Online graduate-level education, especially at the doctoral level, is more about doing your own research, writing papers, being able to formulate and defend an argument, etc.
  24. Mostly the principal. He's so scared that people will get the impression that athletes get preferential treatment, that he cuts off any opportunity for the student body to do anything to rally behind them in the school building. The AD is close to retirement and is just riding out his days. It's a miserable environment for the students.
