Before McKee they won four football games in two seasons. The season of his hire he won 7 games, then 9 the year after and so on. When you run the Wing-T as pristine as Scott Co. changing to another offense is going to set your program back a year or two. McKee will never change the offense as long as he’s the head coach. The offense has not been why the Cards haven’t been to the finals since ‘18. Douglass was there for a while and still dominant at the time, then Cooper has put a throne in their side in the modern time. 2022 they were the second best 5A team but lost by a point to Southwestern when their offense only had one possession the entire second half and lost a 22-0 halftime lead. Another factor is the school split. If the schools never split, Scott County’s backfield would feature Emongo AND Ballard. They’d never punt the ball.

Scott Co. were kings of the 859 then. Nobody outside of Louisville was beating the Cards.

Out of wildcat it’s much easier for him to get going. Out of pistol or any other formation they had been running, that second it takes the ball to travel from the center to the QB, then to him the D-line was often times already in the backfield. If they already know who’s getting the ball, GC eliminating that second gives Ballard the ability to immediately go down hill and start bruising the defense, not the other way around.

If Highlands can play the fullback well they’ll win the game. If you let the fullback plays get big chunks it’s anyone’s ball game. JC runs an easier offense to tell where the ball is going, at least in my opinion. If you have disciplined athletes, you’ll be fine. Not to mention, they’ve thrown the ball 15 times all season. If Highlands meets them in November, their key to win will simply be get JC in throwing situations. If they can do that, JC probably can’t do much at that point. Easier said that done, but they can stop SC they can definitely stop JC.

At the time of the Emongo injury I thought a cooper player was ejected. Admittedly, I have never rewatched, or listened to that game but going back through my notes on the game it looks like you’re correct. Not sure why I remember it that way! Our former assistant QB coach did indeed grab a flag and throw it that was about the only entertainment we had that night. The same player who threw punches in the hand shake line was responsible for almost all the antics started on the 23/24 teams until his eventual removal from the team. Good player, but a hot head. SC and Highlands had a rivalry for a while that’s being reignited a bit at least the next two seasons, fun to have another NKY school in the mix now.

4.5 YPC isn’t bottled up imo. Besides that, when you have a terrible offensive line to be blunt, it doesn’t matter how good the back is. For example, vs Scott County Ballard rushed for 182 on 29 = 6.3 YPC. We admittedly have a very weak run defense this season as they’re all underclassmen. Despite this, one long run padded his stats, as Ballard was locked up all game. We also hit Ballard in the backfield most runs as I’m sure you guys did as well. He would still drag us for 3-4 yard gains! GC just has a young, inexperienced group on that O-line unit and they don’t block for their star one bit. I mean even his highlight run vs Ryle he got no support from his boys. In conclusion, your defense doesn’t have to be good to stop him unfortunately. It’s an 11v1 and he still finds a few plays a game to win that matchup!

I remember it all. What about the Timmy Emongo injury that led to a Cooper players ejection? That seems to of slipped your mind from that night. The idea that SC was alone in the crap that went on is absurd. Sure, our QB coach grabbed an officials flag and threw it, some things may of been thrown onto the field as well but all of that happened due to poor officiating in a high stakes game. In hockey terms, they let the game get away. Once the game gets away you will never get it back.

Luke Ballard is a top 3 running back in KY. Everyone around him is terrible yes, but he is a special talent.

McKee’s philosophy will be to treat this game as the opposite for SC. If they drop this game he doesn’t need morale to drop on the team as well. I’m sure he’ll reiterate many times throughout practice this week that this game untimely doesn’t matter. They have their first two games set, and if they beat cooper whoever they get in round 3 is manageable.

SC Cooper round two of the playoffs in 2023. Officiating was iffy all game then really blew up towards the end, as did both teams. SC racked up 200+ yards in penalties both teams had players/coaches ejected. Bad look for the officials at the time. The game got out of hand mostly due to their actions not to say the players are innocent but things were avoidable.

Both teams were guilty. I don’t see one side as being the worse party in what occurred.

It’s officially a 7 team race. The ordering 1-7 can be debated 300 different ways, but we have the 7.

I would love for BG to win. I want to play them for it all! I just don’t see it working out that way.

In terms of them winning another championship. They aren’t getting that far it seems so it’s irrelevant. They aren’t in the same tier as the top 5A teams is the point.

To opposing teams it’s probably not very noticeable. Team mouths to the ref a bit too much in a big game it happens. When you watch every game you notice it very quickly. I wouldn’t expect it on Friday. Hoping for a good game!

Ryle hasn’t looked as good this year, but they shouldn’t struggle much with SK. Ryle 48 SK 14

Our players rarely don’t play clean. It’s almost always verbal or gestures that get flagged. Now, if you punch a player, put hands on an official then throw your helmet 30 yards down the field while yelling a whole list of profanity at the officials then you’ll be kicked off the team as we saw last season. McKee has made a few changes to try and combat the crazy behavior we’ve seen a few times, but he himself accounts for a number of our unsportsmanlike calls. It seemingly is just a part of the Scott County season to an extent.

Many officials have dealt with a County meltdown before. I’m sure our leash is short before the antics even begin. Hopefully we avoid that Friday and put Highlands to bed like usual.

If we start to lose and any sort of bad officiating makes things worse we’ll 100% lose our cool. Every loss I can remember there have been unsportsmanlike penalties late besides Mad Central this season. There have been some pretty bizarre ones(Crossing ‘24, Cooper ‘23) for example.

Scott County does indeed run the same offense. They’ve been running it since ‘97! Scott County has dominated Highlands in the last decade or so. I think it’ll be a hard fought game but it’s hard to pick against my Cards. Timmy Emongo will be Timmy Emongo and they’ll block a punt! 28-21 Cards.

Loss of words. At least it’s almost over.

The QB had the first. His knee wasn’t down until he had already reached over the line to gain. If Scott County gets the correct call there, they very well may of won the game. The spot they gave was where his knee went down they almost didn’t even account for the fact he had reached over. McKee and his players had every right to lose their cool after that play. As well as the “PI” on the previous drive that negated a great interception by Timmy Emongo which made tempers flare up eventually. Of course, this led to officials tacking on multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. One thing I’ll say about Scott County is that every time a big game starts to slip this team gets dirty and mouthy. It’s been that way for years.

McKee always finds a way to beat highlands. Although, there is a glaring weakness this year for Scott County and it’s their run defense. Could be a long day.

lol! Honestly forgot about Owensboro they’ll rough em up early.

BG is running out of time to turn this around….not to say anything bad on Greenwood, but if you want to compete with the big 3 on the other side of the bracket, you need to show a bit more dominance in my opinion.
