  1. All players had pads in their pants. They kept sending kids off for their pants rising above the knee. 1st time all year I've seen it enforced in KY.
  2. Both sides, and it was from the kickoff until that extra point. They removed at least 4 Cooper players and probably 6 or 7 Scott County players throughout the game. The Cooper players that were close got their pants taped to keep their kneepads down. It was wild.
  3. Scott County players and coaches have lost their minds. Cops are involved. Somebody from Scott County threw the officials flag up towards the home stands. This is embarrassing for Scott County.
  4. Defense has some pieces back. Not the same defense Highlands played week 5 or 6. Whatever.
  5. If Cooper LBs are reading the QB the game is lost. Never in 1000 years should you read the QB in this style of offense.
  6. QB O'Hara has a UK offer. WR Johnson has an EKU offer. Not power 5, but D1.
  7. Stats are cool. A lot more that affects stats than one guy's ability. For example, and no disrespect to anyone else, if Cam O'Hara had Highlands offensive line he'd likely have 4000 yards passing. Verax and Gregg are both solid QBs. I don't think anyone will dispute that. Hopefully they're both healthy for friday.
  8. If I'm Dixie, I lock up man to man, flood the box with defenders to stop the run and have a constant spy on Ryle's QB. Dixie has two very good corners capable of covering the WRs of Ryle. If the Dixie QB can run stay healthy this week and run the ball like he did the first 3 quarters against Cooper, I think they have the upper hand. IMO Gregg > Verax. Having said all of that, the Dixie coaching staff has got some work to do in the realm of game management. Wasted time in crucial situations along with the inability to get a play in in a timely manor cost them vs Cooper last week. Another thing they're going to need is a backup plan for Gregg not being able to run. Personally, I'd line up Rice in the backfield and run behind him. Dixie has the players to run a smashmouth run oriented offense in the absence of Gregg if they needed to. Anyway, give me Dixie this week. 28-21
  9. Dixie defense forced 3 turnovers in the second half. They did everything they could to win. Dixie offense was embarrassingly simple tonight. Once the QB couldn't run, that was all she wrote. If I'm a Dixie coach, I'm putting #8 in the backfield and running behind the big fella. One thing of note, there were exactly zero holding penalties called tonight against either team. Rice (dixie) was held numerous times as were Alexander and Baesel (cooper).
  10. He went back to Florida from my understanding.
  11. There are a couple defensive guys that haven't played this year due to injury that could make it back on the field come playoff time. And yeah, they will make an impact for sure. Hope to see it happen.
  12. If Highlands showed up with zero starters, I'm confident that they could put a running clock on Boone. Trap game? No shot.
  13. As a coach, you prepare like any other week. Keep your guys focused and on the task at hand. Run the rock. Every starter will be out of the game by halftime. Let your 2nd string guys get some time, move on to the next week.
  14. Based on what I saw tonight from the team that beat Boone County last week, Highlands could score 100 in the 1st half if they really wanted to.
  15. I mean, if we're considering all things here, Highlands is the team they are because of their OL and DL play. Benke is an absolute stud. No question about it. But every game I've seen of theirs, his first contact is 5+ yards down the field. I'm sure Benke thanks them every day. They are going to be a tough team to beat.
  16. Don't know the extent of the injury, but he went out in the 1st quarter and did not return. Looked to be serious as he was carted off the field. Prayers for the kid. He was giving Cooper a hard time on both sides of the ball. Injuries suck.
  17. Cooper hadn't stopped Highlands one time prior to that. Holding them to a fg was the only "win" the defense had to that point. I'd have kicked an onside kick every chance I got in the second half. They had to try to steal a possession.
  18. Isaiah Johnson. Cooper defense lost a very good, young defensive lineman early in the game and it hurt. Jags kept fighting and made it a game. Good luck to both teams moving forward. Hope to see the two teams meet again.
  19. that's just a coach thinking his guys are better than they are.
  20. Idk why Highlands ever passes the ball.
  21. If Cooper can limit Highlands on the ground, this game will be a lot closer than most think.
  22. Cooper killed themselves tonight. 4 turnovers, too many penalties, and two trips inside the Ryle 10 yardline with 1st and goal to come away with 3 points. Ryle did a nice job of putting pressure on the Cooper Qb and kept him uncomfortable most of the night. Good luck to both teams moving forward.
