The Freshman team was already beyond loaded again winning the GCYL Big School Championship so this could prove to be a devastating team this fall. I can tell you the pipeline certainly does not end with this incoming class either…. What position does the Miller kid play?

This is good to hear for sure. Measurables? Position? Any other newly adds studs/players you care to elaborate on?

Ok. If He is already there and on the team what’s His name so we all can enjoy watching Him ball. I have not heard of any new additions yet….this isn’t a Bond movie. No need for cloak and dagger. Summer practice has started for everyone so let’s start celebrating everyone.

The Freshman team in general is outstanding as they were the Big Schools GCYL CHAMPS as 8th graders last year basically obliterating almost every team accept for one…..care to share the player….there a ton of good ones on that Squad. And we will beat Elder in the Pit as we are going to be unreal upfront in both sides of the ball

Anyone know the tip time for any of the games at Cov. Cath.?

Who do you see who could step into His role at Safety? Not sure on the depth chart there so would love to know.

This Kid will be a one man wrecking crew over the next 2 years. He will be unblockable coming off the edge….you have to see His Speed and Quickness in person to believe it for someone His size. Colonels will be violently dominant upfront on both sides of the ball this year. Unreal.

Is the intrasquad spring challenge open to the public by chance?

Logan, Johnny Lind, and Brady would be by far my breakout returning players that will take massive leaps forward…….watch specifically for the massive improvement at WR for Logan and at DE for Lind as I expect Lind to eventually become a possible top 5 DE in the state before He graduates in 2 years Landon Robinson, Jackson Payne and Charlie Reeves are my expected breakout stars new to the lineup this year as they will have an immediate and high impact….and yes, I expect to see Link get very meaningful playing time from game one as I think it be hard to keep Him off the field. Cash Meyer is the X Factor as I thought He had a slow start to the season, but then around the 3rd/4th His engine kicked and whoa buddy He started lighting it up…..He brings that in August He is a starter for sure….I’ll be interested to see what Cash is like after 4-5 months of full varsity workouts…. Outside of Cash and Dylan, watch for Owen Pitzer and the Brooks kid to absolutely shine nearly as bright as they are the 4 headed beast that will lead this team….those 4 will be very very special before the year is out…..and yea, I know what you are thinking, “really went out on a limb here and took some risks”?….do not care as I cannot wait for August….

Now that Hoops is over for CCH and those players will join workouts this week or next, anyone in the know want to take a crack at rattling off the starters for the fall….cannot wait for August.

My bad…..serves me right for doing this during a meeting at work……I meant the Beechwood game Newport lost 59-57…..got Cooper on my mind too much….although Cooper could be getting set up for a loss with all the behind the scenes drama start to Hit…..so sad

Lack of discipline late in games from a composure, organization and defensive effort is a have I seen out of Newport and Lloyd…..I think it mostly speaks to coaching and mental toughness….Honestly, I thought both Newport and Lloyd should have beaten Cov. Cath. However, after both teams had the Colonels down most of the game, I saw Newport and Lloyd down the stretch lose their composure, look disorganized & out of sorts, and in some cases give up defensively especially in the last couple of minutes in both games. And Newport really let their emotions I thought get the best of them in the Cooper game. To me that speaks to Coaching. Not that Walker and Sapp are bad coaches, but more so this year they do not seem to have their squads as buttoned up and as tight as they have been in past years. It’s a shame to because Walker is playing out of His mind and I think Newports other big(not Starks, cannot remember His name) could be having a monster season with a little more Coaching……I mean Newport had a massive size advantage and their 2 bigs did nothing against Cov. Cath. as it looked Newport did not game plan for the Bigs to be a part of that game and the frustration by the end of the Cov. Cath. game it very clearly showed. The Region is wide open amongst those 4 teams, but Newport & Lloyd are going to have to get way way better, tougher, and more disciplined if they are going to beat Cooper who I believe is the very clear favorite…..

After seeing them both play this season I do believe Lloyd and Newport are both overly emotional and lack discipline…..until they are beat at this point Cooper has to be the favorite…..best Coach in the Region and the best player in the region so to me that makes Cooper the clear favorite. That all being said, any one of Newport, Lloyd, Cooper, and Cov Cath can easily win the region. I expect those 4 to advance and their semifinal games to be absolute dog fights with some of the best basketball this region has seen in a while. Buckle up!

With all the “Future Colonels” in attendance and in the student section, their atmosphere was absolutely electric and intense matching the electricity and intensity playing out on the hardwood by 2 teams who straight got after each other. Last night is all about why a cold winter Friday night in High School gym can be magical. CCH is going to damn dangerous next year….that though is for another thread in about 4 months….

Not meant as a dig, just this Kid is way too special to be off anyone’s radar. So much fun watching Him play. He is gonna tear it up this year and next.

If this Kid is off anyone’s radar then they are nuts……stud.

CYF has been in that league since CYF’s inception. GCYL had been around a long long time…..

Sorry, when I meant next year, I meant fall of 2026. He is currently a Sophomore and started this year and received quality varsity minutes as a Freshman last season…..I am getting too amped up waiting for the next couple of seasons to play out

Tomorrow evening at Covington Catholic at the halftime of the CCH vs. Moeller varsity hoops game, this year’s 8th grade CYF team will be honored for their 1 loss, Big School GYCL Championship!! This the first time a CYF 8th grade team has won the Big School Championship as previously we have won several small school Championships. Their only loss was 7-6 to Cardinal Pacelli, whom they ended facing for the Championship in a rematch and soundly beating. This is a loaded team. NKY Teams have never seen this group because as 7th graders instead of playing in the NKYFL, they opted to play in the 8th grade Big School Division and it clearly paid dividends. I am very anxious to watch this team compete and get after it as Freshman in the Fall

I knew I was forgetting someone and Lind is it. He has the potential to be a very very High D1 recruit and dominant force in NKY football over the next 2 years. Yes, Lind absolutely belongs on this list.

Maybe a little strong, but there is no doubt we straight up outplayed them up front.

I can personally attest to the fact that the Colonels have ratcheted up the intensity and productivity to their offseason work outs with phenomenal buy-in from the players and better results already obvious and it’s only February.….and we saw the result last year when we dominated Boyle County up front…..a big big year is coming Cov. Cath’s way. LET’S GO COLONELS!!!
