(solely off-state tournament results) 2024: Both regions lost in the opening round 2023: Woodford County-Final Four, Newport- First round exit 2022: North Oldham- 2nd Rd, Covington Catholic- Final Four 2021: Oldham County-1st Rd, Highlands- Runner Up 2020: No tournament (COVID) 2019: Walton-Verona-2nd Rd, Covington Catholic- 1st Rd 2018: Oldham County-Final Four, Covington Catholic- Runner Up 2017: Collins- 2nd Rd, Cooper- Runner Up 2016: South Oldham- 2nd Rd, Newport Central Catholic- Final Four 2015: Collins- 1st Rd, Covington Catholic- Final Four Solely looking at state tournament results, the 9th clears for the last 10 years. However, I believe the level of competitiveness up and down is much deeper than you think.

I haven't had the pleasure of watching Grant County yet this year. How is the squad looking? Hopefully, within the next few weeks I will get a look at them.

Or even an 8th and 9th Christmas shootout at The Roy? Maybe even switch it up each year, with a 9th school hosting one year and Henry County hosting the next. Rather than a tournament.. make it like the "SEC vs. ACC Challenge" to avoid the possibility of district matchups in a Christmas tournament. The Braves had two easy wins after some tough losses against good competition last week. That good competition starts right back up, traveling to Collins tonight.

Potentially. However, if WV and Woodford are in the same conversations as them I would say either Boone or Gutman gets it Points are a large factor, but for an overall player they both clear.

8th Region 29th District: Oldham County, South Oldham, North Oldham 31st District: Trimble County, Carroll County, Gallatin County, Owen County, Henry County, Eminence

I have been spot-on through the tournament... and I am going to follow you on this one. Owen County has no one that can guard Aaron Gutman, and Walton-Verona probably has the 4 best players on the court after that. Bearcats by 20+.

Was set for the summer of this year, but according to this thread it is now being pushed off.

It is an absolute mess. Not to mention that the 6-team district plays each team TWICE. The 3-team district only plays one another ONCE! I know this does not fall on the KHSAA, but it just baffles me that one team can have 10 district seeding games a year, and others have 2.

They are worried about swapping teams around in two districts, yet have a 6-team district and a 3-team district playing in the same region. There are also 3 schools in the same county (the only three) playing in different regions!

What in the world is going on in the 30th... I am lost!

Wow! What a low-scoring affair. Was it Gallatin County not hitting shots or Owen County's defense? Either way, it was an unexpected result with an even more surprising score. Maybe the 31st District isn't the two-headed race we all thought it to be... I did not know there was a stream! Can you link it so that I can go watch it?

As we all are. He is putting down another one for not telling the "full story", yet he is doing the same thing. (considering he even knows half of the story lol)

WV wins the championship winning each game by 15+. The 'A' is without a doubt the worst it has been in 5+ years. Gallatin County vs Owen County tonight should be a good one! I would not be surprised one bit to see the Rebels playing in the championship on Friday night. That being said, Gallatin County has a lot better shot at knocking off the Bearcats Friday as long as they can handle business tonight. Aaron Gutman is without a doubt the best player in the tournament. Watching his game develop over the last few years has been special to watch. He has come a long way, and I expect him to be in the running for 8th Region POTY.

The whole situation just seems so odd to me. @TheConch drilled it with his last reply. Only four people know what went down. Truth be told, the only person that 100% knows is Scott. That being said, I am an outsider to the whole story. Does anyone have any speculation or stories as to how to entire "resignation" went down?

If you have the chance, attend any of the Oldham/South, Oldham/North, or North/South games. I will advise you to arrive an hour early if you want a 100% chance of getting in the game! Also, you will almost always sit up top because the lower half is all students.

Some intriguing games to look at this week: I believe that South and Oldham will be closer than most expect it to be. It will be the best atmosphere in the state of Kentucky Friday night, as it is each year. Oldham County is not at the strength they have been in recent years, but they have the talent to keep it competitive given the fact that it is a huge rivalry and thousands will be in attendance. Grant County and Simon Kenton could be a close one, but I am leaning toward SK by double-digits. If this game was played at Grant I would say otherwise, but the 'Neers are a tough out at home. The Braves shoot a ton of threes, so if they get hot there's a slight chance they give Simon Kenton a good one. Spencer County and Collins should be electric. If Spencer can sneak by with another one they will be in great shape to obtain that crucial #1 seed in the toughest district the 8th Region has. Both came into the season playing an underdog role in the 30th, but have proven they are legitimate contenders and will give Woodford a run for their money. Gallatin County and Henry County will be the 31st championship preview. While Henry County lost to Owen County earlier this year, I don't see that happening again. Their two matchups this season should decide the #1 seed. Henry County will have to beat them two times to obtain it, assuming both teams win out in district play. The All 'A' Classic tipped off, and night one went just as we expected. It will continue tomorrow night, Walton-Verona and Eminence starting at 6:00. This one should not be close, with WV walking into the championship game well-rested. Owen County and Gallatin County will cap off the night at 7:30. This game should be a war, just as it is each time these two squads matchup. The Cats won this matchup early this year by 15 points, but expect this one to be much closer. Gallatin County should be favored to win, but The Rebels playing tournament basketball on their home court could be a tough environment to overcome.

I was in attendance as well. The complaining was not bad until the end of the game, just as every other losing coach does. "70% of the whistles" is insane. I thought it was a very evenly officiated game the whistle going each team's way a few times on a couple of bad calls. However, it did feel like this game was over from the jump. I was sitting beside two guys and we talked about this throughout the game. It felt like it should have been a 15-20 points game all night. It would jump out to 10-12 and Louisville would make just enough shots to keep it somewhat close. Overall, great game with a phenomenal atmosphere. The rivalry felt almost back to what it was when these two teams hated each other (and both teams had a chance to win). Looking forward to the many Pope and PK matchups in the future!

North Oldham is a legit threat to the 8th.... once again. When is Levitch going to start getting the respect he deserves? He has lost the majority of his scoring each of the last few years and proceeded to jump right back into it the following year.

I think we will see a lot of this in the 8th season. A ton of young (at least in terms of experience) squads are trying to figure things out, and they will have some very hot and very cold nights. SO had some troubles to start the year, but I have no doubt they will be in contention when the postseason rolls around.

Tough loss, but somewhat expected in the first game without Pryor. They need to figure it out and do so quickly. Their schedule is nothing short of brutal in the coming weeks.
