As we saw Friday with the Boyle football game anything can happen is why we play the games. Lincoln will in my opinion be a good 3 point shooting team and could get hot and beat them. Somerset is a cross town rival and those games bring out the best in teams that always pose an upset threat. Rock losing Craig I think gives them less of a chance but they have to play maybe 3 times and that’s always tough. Puladki won’t go undefeated but it will be interesting to see who is able to get them when it counts ,if anyone is.

I have said it multiple times here that until someone beats them they are the favorite. In my opinion there are really only 4 teams that have a legitimate chance to do that. DCA with their size, Mercer has enough overall talent, Boyle ,if all their football kids play, have enough, and Southwestern with what they return plus Dumphord. West could possibly, but I haven’t seen their big against varsity competition yet. If he is able to compete could move into that group.

I’m not naive enough to believe that these kids don’t hear and use the F word daily from parents and amongst their friends. However the sexually explicit use of the words about the kids in the first few seconds of the video was totally over the top. Coaches cuss. Is it needed? Probably not. The Lord’s name in vain for me is never ok either but I realize not everyone may have the same beliefs as me.

PC JV and freshman teams won both of their respective 12th region tournaments so I am going to say they are a leg up with talent there. As I’ve said before it is open but until someone knocks PC off it’s theirs to lose.

West will be much improved from last year as will Danville and Garrard. Boyle is the team for me that is a mystery. They could be really good if all of there football kids play and they are happy and gel together. A lot of size, physicality and talent. You mentioned Barnes in Mercer’s breakdown. Didn’t he end up leaving the team last year and they played most of the season without him?

Also forgot to mention West has Coffman from Trinity Christian and King a transfer from LCA that averaged 5 or 6 last year.

I agree it is a pretty wide open region but you may have missed a few transfers that will shake your order up I believe Lincoln also lost Mason Agee to Garrard Co so that leaves them completely guard oriented. I think rebounding and teams with inside play will make it tough for them. Run them off the three point line and points could be tough to get. Coach Jackson is the master though. With the above mentioned I think Garrard deserves a better look. Noe is a really good player for sure and Boatwright is back as well. Boyle could be legit if all the football players come out including Hager. Could still see Brown signing a big football scholarship and leaving early too. Mercer has LCA second leading scorer from last year. He is a point guard with size that will make them better. Danville’s Tre Page is a really great player. They have a transfer from Burgin in Jakavin Walker that will help them with the other players returning. They will be very athletic and compete in the 45th.

Definitely the best long range shooter. Shot at a near 50% from 3 last year. Tough break for the kid. Hate to see it happen to anyone. Hopefully he gets back for a strong senior year if not before.

About where we thought it would be when this was voted on. Pulaski with a healthy Fraley still deserves to be 1 even without Phillips. The next two could interchange either way and are nipping at PC’s heals. Rockcastle probably drops. Southwestern I think is a solid 4. With the football kids playing at Boyle I think they fill the five for now. Could move up or down based on how they play when they get together.

If all the players mentioned are indeed playing for Boyle and all stay healthy then the 45th is theirs to lose.

I guess I’m from the old school, too. Give to ball to the ref and celebrate briefly with your teammates that helped you get there and get back to work. Nothing rehearsed should be allowed.

Congratulations to all involved including Coach Pope. Two big signings keeping not only two Ky boys but two top national recruits here. Big for Kentucky Basketball.

100% agree. 3 or 4 teams have enough to challenge them but till someone does it it’s theirs to lose.

Great player and great kid. Will have to carry the load for Cooper this year with Rondin and Pouncy gone but should be up for the task.

Saw on X that Reggie Cottrell of state runner up Harlan Co was involved in an accident with fireworks yesterday. Pretty serious damage to one of his hands. Prayers for him in his recovery.

Thought it would be kind of unusual if a 20 point a game kid was still without a team but hadn’t heard where he went.

And I will add as well as a fan of the 12th region that Walker Craig, Kendal Phillips, Antajuan Dumphord, should all be mentioned as top players in the region. Craig is unreal to be able to shoot at 50% from three. Phillips is always in top 4-5 in scoring. Dumphord is an incredible athlete. I even read an article on Prep Hoops Ky that Steve said he thought Boyd might be the best basketball player on DCA. Ellis’ stats are better than all of them over the long haul.

I do read your posts as I do all the posts in the 12th region threads. I’m a fan of the 12th region. Just thought it was strange you made two comments about a kids physical condition while you had also talked about a team needing rest and losing weight. It’s summer time basketball season is 6 months away. The way teams play Ellis though I would think some extra weight would be beneficial to him. I will say this, being a fan of the 12th and following it think Ellis’ stats pretty well speak for themself over the last two years as the best player in the region.

What’s the obsession with what kind of condition a kid is in in June. I mean several of your posts from before you have talked about DCA fading at the end of the season. Maybe they should rest a little in June and then get back in shape for the season. One post you talked about DCA kids losing weight. Maybe you should be more concerned with that. The games I saw Ellis play in June he still put the ball in the basket at an efficient clip. Hard to argue with his physical conditioning in the region tournament last year as well. Aetny is a great player and he is big and may end up being better than everyone but I really don’t see the reason to question a kids conditioning in the off-season to try and make a point he is better.

As I stated in my post, I figured there was young talent still in the system from the feeder program there. You aren’t a perineal top team in the region without a good feeder system.

I didn’t think he was playing either and didn’t see him play when I watched them. Did he have surgery or did the people say?

Still a lot of good guards from what I’ve seen as well.

Absher was an impact player for them this year and is very good. Yes Mercer has Ellis and two juniors 6’6” or so and Pulaski has Farmer and Anderson who are fairly tall and physical.
