NKY Helmet History Project
Thanks, I’ll get it added. Everything I have so far is at https://hometownminis.com/helmet-history-project . I need to make them higher res tho. I got sidetracked with the tecmo game. Maybe I’ll be able to use these for a throwback game one day.

HS Football in Boone County
Curious what your reasoning is for allowing them to attend whichever school they’d choose. And why are there so many middle schools? Why not have one for each high school, and district borders for those schools. Like almost everywhere else in NKY. Boone county seems messy to me, as an outsider. Simon Kenton and Scott a little bit too.

I agree. A poster said the rumor was that the HHS coaches were trying to prove a point. I would be surprised if that was the case. They need to prove a point that their pass defense can stop someone.

Ryle at Highlands Predictions/Updates
Highlands opposing QBs this season… Game 1- 237 yds, 3 TDs, 1 Int Game 2- 205 yds, 3 TDs, 0 Ints Game 3- 365 yds, 4 TDs, 0 Ints Game 4- TBD (Verax) We will see if the trend continues Friday night. If Verax is the QB I’m lead to believe he is, the expectation should be to eclipse or reproduce those numbers, I.e. ~250 yds and 3TDs. If Highlands holds him below that benchmark or he turns it over a coupes of times, I believe the Birds win. Otherwise I see a shootout.

Highlands 67 Campbell County 35
I don’t doubt that they may feel that way, and I know they saw what was posted on here. But it seems kinda silly to run it up on an inferior team and former coach to prove something to fans, and I guess themselves, if that is indeed the rumor? Seems mentally weak, so I'm not sure I believe that's actually what went down. Do it this week vs Ryle and we may be getting somewhere. I don’t see a lot of tests left on the schedule so they better be blowing people out the rest of the way if they’re going to make a run in November.

Tecmo Super Bowl KY High School Edition is complete
I say “complete”, but I will continue to update it. It has almost every team’s main offensive players. Defense is a little trickier but will eventually be added. However, with a little research, folks can add players and modify rosters as they please. The download, instructions on how to play it, and instructions on how to mod the game are available at www.HometownMinis.com. There is a tab at the top of the page on desktops, and a drop down on mobile devices. Enjoy! * the updated NKY Helmet History Project is on the same site, on another page.

NKY HS Football Retro Video Game
These are the teams with at least partial current rosters in the download. If you don’t see a team, they don’t have any current players in the game, and their team doesn’t use stats on maxpreps. I will keep looking and keep updating.

Covington Catholic 35 Highlands 21
He was at Bellevue prior. Beating CovCath would have no bearing on this being news. It was already circulating.

Covington Catholic 35 Highlands 21
Should be pretty common knowledge by now but the current principal’s wife took to some random messageboard saying how much she and her husband hate the area, the culture, and their jobs. She has something lined up and he’s still looking.

NKY HS Football Retro Video Game
In an effort to make things even and not favor any particular team or player, the base roster attributes for everyone are those of the bengals, with Randall Cunningham’s at QB and Thurman Thomas’s at RB1. It’s an even playing field.

NKY HS Football Retro Video Game
v2 is available to download. Has a lot more players, one skin color (tan/light skinned), the halftime show was removed, and the stats are shown after each a quarter as opposed to only at the end of the game. More roster updates to come. I’m creating players and depth charts based off of teams’ maxpreps stat page. Not everyone uses stats on maxpreps, so if there’s some where better to get that info I’m all ears. Thanks in advance.

NKY HS Football Retro Video Game
Yep. I was going to post in a fresh thread but you can download it from my website, www.HometownMinis.com. There’s a tab for the download page at the top. I'm going to have an update in a day or two cleaning some things up and adding some more players. Most teams are still generic but a number of the nky teams have current rosters or partials. And I’ll be making all of the players one skin tone. You can consider them very tan or light skinned. I’d ever get that right with so many rosters I don’t really know. Enjoy.

Thursday at 6:30 vs Dixie. Any word on the official 8 quarter reset day? Are the six “8 quarter” Birds eligible?

Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
Agreed. I’d like to see WAY less 4 wide, and some smash mouth football instead. Play to your strengths. They have some road graders upfront, a stable of backs, and a physical freak at qb. Don’t get cute and don’t over think it. They should have gone deeper into the playoffs last season, and IMO should have beat Scott County. They absolutely let that one get away. So we know they have the potential because this team is better than last. You can have all the talent in the world but you have to give it the best opportunity to win. And I’m not convinced they do or can. I’ve seen nothing in 3 years that says they are willing to adapt.

Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
I’ve never seen a highlands team or culture in worse shape than it was in 1993. Duffy’s act had worn thin, the roster was down to about 25 players, and his sophomore son, Duffer was playing QB over much better players. It was a train wreck. Dale came in and turned it around IMMEDIATELY. The problem with the last decade is that people have simply gotten used to losing. Fans and faculty included, and they use it as an excuse to manage their expectations. Highlands will probably win the remainder of their regular season games, and should. If they don’t make it to the finals, possibly the semis, and Bob is still around for year 4, he needs to make sure others aren’t. This give him more time stuff is soft and doesn’t jive with the history of Highlands Football.
-
Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
Agreed, Dale’s tenure was next level. But prior to Dale they were still averaging a title every 3 years. I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think a lot of Dale’s grand players have hit the team yet. I think the expectations are the same as they were in 1993. Highlands wins championships, and often. It took Duffy 2 years. Dale was in the regional final his first year and lost to eventual champion CovCath by 4 points. Made the finals in year 2 and won in year 3. That’s the expectation, and it existed way before Dale made his hay.
-
Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
I hear ya, but they were routinely winning titles well before Dale showed up. Highlands amassed 23 state championships in 54 years from 1960-2014. During that stretch, there was only one gap close to what we’re experiencing now. A 6 year drought in the 80s, which lead to the hiring of Duffy, who immediately won. Outside of that window, and the current, nearly everyone who has played 3 years of football at Highlands got a ring. That’s not luck or the ball bouncing their way. We’re in uncharted territory here, and folks have the right to be anxious, and critical. This is year 9.

Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
No question. However there have been some significant “misses”, and also snafus as far as letting the wrong guys go. I would say Bob has been receiving poor advice from people who he probably trusts, or who hired him, since day 1.
