Happy Birthday coach! ?

Cooper at Highlands Predictions/Updates
I am no expert but there will be plenty of good players to see. You have seen the HHS guys it sounds like but Cooper has Alexander as you mentioned and they also have one of the leading tacklers in the state (Lonaker). If you look at common opponents, Cooper had close wins against Dixie and Campbell. They had close low scoring losses to CCH and Ryle. I throw out the GRC game as I do South Warren for HHS as it was the first game and these teams are different now. Cal Preps has this as a 38-24 Birds win. I think/hope that is fairly accurate.

Ryle vs. Simon Kenton Predictions/Updates (10/22)
Yep and for a big time but whooping. Not sure they would sign up for that road trip.

Beechwood vs. Newport Predictions/Updates (10/20)
Will Harney play another position? Seems like he may be able to help elsewhere if not at QB?

Cooper at Highlands Predictions/Updates
Didn't they ultimately run the Wildcat with Noon the last 2 seasons? ? I think the wildcat would be good for short yardage and they have done that in the scrimmages this season with Noon. It is much more difficult to defend with Noon in motion or Noon in the backfield with Giesler/Hosea and the QB and another player in motion. You have to defend against 3-4 options instead of just 1 or 2 with Noon by himself. The final TD against CCH was scored because everyone flowed to Noon and the handoff went to Hosea. Went 35 yards pretty much untouched due to Noon possibly getting the ball and good blocking. The one thing I want to see and something I think we will see is Noon throwing out of some of these sets.

Ryle vs. Simon Kenton Predictions/Updates (10/22)
Good point. That would be an option if that team accepted the road trip. I have not seen that yet. Looks like that would most likely be Marshall County.

You are correct on both accounts there!

They ultimately divide it into East vs. West. So in that bracket you posted, the top half (Districts 1-4) is the West and the bottom half (Districts 5-8) is the East. I personally like the idea of doing it 1-8 instead of East vs. West. As of today, 8 out of the top 10 in the RPI are in the East bracket.

The last 4 or 5 years at least the state went to District play the first 2 rounds so they would always meet in the 1st or 2nd round. We are now back to playing sister districts so the earliest this year would be round 3. Keep in mind that this bracket starts over in round 3. Meaning that they do the matchups according to RPI starting in round 3. So no chance to meet in Round 1 or 2. Could meet in round 3 depending on RPI (RPI #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3). The latest they would play would be round 4. Keep in mind that the #2 seed from District 5 (CCH or HHS) would travel to Freddy D in round 2 so real big game for the Birds on Friday.

Ryle vs. Simon Kenton Predictions/Updates (10/22)
I think I see where you are going. It looks like the 1 seed would have a bye then most likely Trinity at Home in round 2. The 2 Seed would have Eastern at Home then go to Ballard for Round 2. Correct?

Ryle vs. Simon Kenton Predictions/Updates (10/22)
I think that is low!

Cooper at Highlands Predictions/Updates
Agree. White is a nice player. Does a little bit of everything.

Campbell County at Dixie Predictions/Updates
If Rice plays QB does he continue to play Linebacker? Maybe right now and this season it would be yes but normally, I am not so sure he would play defense. At least not Linebacker.

5A RPI Rankings (10/15/22)
As it stands today, it could/should be Scott County at Highlands in the second round. What an early round matchup. If HHS were to lose Friday, it would be Scott Co. at Cov Cath in round 2.

Cooper at Highlands Predictions/Updates
This may seem counterintuitive but I would have been more worried about an emotional hangover in this one had the Birds lost to CCH. With what they have in front of them now, they should be laser focused.

Cooper at Highlands Predictions/Updates
Most offenses have been on fire coming off of games vs. Conner and Boone this season. If Cooper cannot run the ball, I think the QB will be in trouble. HHS had 6 sacks vs. CCH when CCH was unable to run. That is tough on any QB let alone a frosh that hasn't played many good teams. Cooper scored 0 vs. GRC, 10 vs. Ryle and struggled to beat Dixie and Campbell County. Cooper has some nice players and this could stay tight for a while with all that is on the line for the Birds. If the Birds don't win this one, I will be very surprised and disappointed.

It was ruled intentional grounding in the endzone. Automatic safety.

It was #25. I believe his name is Evan Vinson.

Totally agree. I will say that I am surprised that HHS had 5 turnovers (minus 3 for the game) and still won. It helps when you score on offense, defense and special teams. Saying it would have gotten out of hand is nonsense. Hopefully no big injuries came out of the game.

Gotcha but the original post was calling out sophomores that played Friday and didn’t Dress in the JV game. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Injuries is a bad excuse. Both teams had starters out.

Bessler played both ways on JV.

No negativity intended. Like you said it is opinion and a small sample size. I think both are fine players.
