Its genuinely rooted in what I have seen with my own eyes. This Beechwood team took us to the wire last year at our place, and the next week we put 53 on OC. Beechwood is better this year, and a case can be made (and has on this thread) that OC is not better than last year. To me, that adds up to a Beechwood win. If I am wrong, it would not be the first time.

It's Beechwood, and I'm not sure it will be that close. No disrespect to OC, but they have not seen the speed they are going to see next Friday.

Poll is 66-54 Beechwood. If the Tigers can stop Howard which is alot easier said than done, and take care of the ball on offense, then they have a real shot at derailing the Eagle train.

I guess I will wade into this, but it really needs its own thread. There is too much that needs to be said, but I will be brief. First, the generation of fans that started this ride 50 or so years ago have gotten older. Many of them cannot physically make it to the game, but now they get to see the game because of a livestream. There has to be a place for that (imo). Second, more people are watching Mayfield football games than ever before because of a livestream. Lincoln Suiter’s grandmother sent us thanks because she got to see him play. She lives in Brazil, but she saw every kick. There has to be a place for that (imo). Lastly, this is the first time that I can remember people talking about crowd size after a loss MORE than the execution on the FIELD! We lost because of our play on the field, not the crowd or the livestream. This is, of course, strictly my opinion. ?

Yes, the district rounds can give you some upsets according to “district seeding” because some districts are tougher than others. For example, the first district in 2A won 3 of the four games against the second district. Even Owensboro Catholic did not put a running clock on the fourth seeded Rockets of Crittenden County. To your point VOR, I do think this week makes a better round to be week number one of the playoffs instead of week number two.

We haven't heard a definite word on him for this game yet.

Caldwell County goes on the road for round number two of the 2A playoffs, and they know the address very well as they will face the Mayfield Cardinals at War Memorial Stadium. Both teams are coming off convincing wins in the first round, and this sets up a rematch of their regular season game in which Mayfield won 47-14 back on October 4th. Has anything changed since then? It is worth mentioning that since that game on Oct. 4, Mayfield has lost two big defensive weapons due to injury. One more thing, Caldwell has really found something offensively as they put up 54 pts on Trigg two weeks ago, and 51 against Fort Campbell last Friday. Are these things enough to reverse the first outcome? Tell us what you think.

The Rebels of Todd County Central start the 2024 playoffs with a road trip to War Memorial Stadium to play the defending state champion Mayfield Cardinals. These teams have played on several occasions with Mayfield winning each time that they played. This season should be no different as the Cardinals should win this one rather handily. But its “one and done” season so every opponent should be focused on. Do the Rebels catch the Cardinals looking past them? Tell us what you think.

The last week of the regular season has arrived. With the District title under their belts, the Mayfield Cardinals will host the Christian County Colonels at War Memorial. Mayfield fans should be able to watch this game without reaching for their blood pressure medicine as the Colonels have only one win on the season so far. But you cannot take anything for granted. It wasn ‘t too many years ago that Christian County was considered one of the powerhouse programs in western Kentucky, and a yearly match with Mayfield was a game that many looked forward to seeing. That is no longer true, at least for this year. With the upset, the Colonels can possibly knock the Cardinals out of home field advantage in the 2A playoffs. So, what do you think? Do the Colonels catch Mayfield at just the right time? Does Mayfield have anything left in the tank after last week’s dramatic last minute come from behind win over Murray? This is sad news indeed. Rahim was an assistant coach under Billy Kennedy at my alma mater, Murray State. Those were fun years for Racer basketball. Prayers for the Rahim family.
