The Rebels of Todd County Central start the 2024 playoffs with a road trip to War Memorial Stadium to play the defending state champion Mayfield Cardinals. These teams have played on several occasions with Mayfield winning each time that they played. 
     This season should be no different as the Cardinals should win this one rather handily. But its “one and done” season so every opponent should be focused on.

This game shouldn't be close! Traveling to War Memorial doesn't typically bold well for any one!

Todd Co dressed only 17 players in a few games this year.  That is not good at all.  Hopefully no-one gets injured.

The real playoffs don't start till 3rd round.

Not in 2A but they do start in the 2nd round in some other classes.

Mayfield looks poised to repeat the gauntlet they ran to the 2023 championship.  Win round 1 at War Memorial, ditto round 2 at WM, then a redux of 2023 with Lex Christian traveling to WM, win and Beechwood travels to WM like 2023.  If Mayfield wins round 4 they then will probably face Owensboro Catholic the same team they defeated last year for the trophy. 2As’ version of Groundhog Day.

We have a young team, not like last year. It's possible but likely not probable. Beechwood is the likely team to take down OC. The stars will have to really align for us.

Humble for sure, but really tough to beat the Cardinals with that vaunted War Memorial home crowd.

I just call em like I see it. Beechwood shores up the defense, they have a good shot at being State Champs.

I am not expecting that to happen against top 2A competition.  I think it will be more of a shootout with Beechwood no matter who they are playing at the top of 2A.

If that happens we got a good chance if we play Beechwood. I think we can beat LCA, if we play good. First we gotta take care of Todd County Central.

Todd County Central hasn't won a playoff game since winning two in 1996 before losing in the regional final to...Mayfield. They've been close a few times since then to breaking the streak but it absolutely won't happen this year.
