Purples still return enough to be a big threat. Barber, Trussle, Smith and some more think they’ll be the team for O to beat out of the west still. South is moving to 6A aren’t they? I would like to see O pick 6A St. X back up. Rather than 3A CAL which hurts us in RPI.

I agree. Kinda reminds me of the Seahawks vs Patriots in the superbowl why not feed your best player 4 times with less than 5yards to go… But next year with Burk, Green, Dillard all play makers returning. I don’t think that much pressure will be on Hampton to make it to round 2 or 3 next yr. Getting other play makers involved will just open things up that much more for Hampton.

I agree. I’ve learned over the years not to count out Mayfield. The athletes are there but the experience is where OC pulls away from the cardinals this year.

More tested than any 2A team other than LCA… They just running clocked the same team that took a good Mayfield squad to the wire. They’re that good. Arguably best Aces squad in school history. But… I also agree they will be tested in the final. They’ve beaten 6A Henderson. 6A North Hardin 5A Owensboro 5A Apollo none of which were less than 2 score victories. 2 were even running clocks.

The Devils left it all on the field tonight. Feel as if Owensboro maybe even played better than BG for a good portion of the game but just not able to punch it in the end zone and put points on the board but the were driving up and down the field all second half…. I know I’m biased but I think that had more to do with Owensboro playing their best game all season rather than BG not playing well. For the first time in the Deuce Bailey era the Devils were able to get pressure on him.

Devils coaching staff needs to keep this game close. If it’s 42-7 at Rash that would be a total melt down by the Devils and would come with some player retention issues in the off season.

Carrico or no Carrico is this game really in question? Madisonville routed Murray 41-3. OC’s offense is even more explosive than Madisonville’s and the defense is stiffer. If the Aces lose here that would be a monumental upset. This game shouldn’t be close. Running clock Aces 3rd quarter.

Also like to add the Devils have been wayyyy to predictable when playing the purples like we’re watching the same game on repeat when they meet. For the Devils to have any chance in this one. Hampton will have to line up at Receiver and DB. Your not going to run it consistently and have success against the Purples idc who’s playing them or running the ball.

Highly doubt this will happen this time around. Although Tisdale was the more recruited player. IMO Monte Owsley was the best player on the field that night and it showed as BG had no answer for him on offense and on defense he basically shut Tisdale down and got him out of character which lead to the unsportsmanlike penalties … Bringing it to 2024 I feel like it’s reversed Evan Hampton is the highly recruited player but the best player on the field will be Barber. He breaks loose for a wild night at Rash and O will be looking forward to next season by halftime unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong. Let’s go Devils!

Didn’t say it would be the exact same outcome.lol but I’d take OC in a shoot out. I believe their defense could do enough for their offense to out score X…. Only 1 team has scored more than touchdown against OC starters all season.

Call me crazy but after what BG did to St. X with the Weapons OC has I think they could give St. X a run. Crowe and Atwell are just as Dangerous as Bailey and Barber.

Very unlikely but at the same time possible. Nobody gave Owensboro a chance last year against South Warren and look what happened… Apollo has the big play ability but it would take a perfect performance to pull that off and they haven’t played close to perfect game all year. Apollo is better than their 5-5 record though. Losing to the best OC Aces squad in history the first game of the season. Played with a BG squad for almost a half. Self inflicted wounds against 3 tough district opponents (that have all been in the 5A top 10 at some point this season). Injuries along with being young like you mentioned are what separate this Eagles squad from being 10-0. Future is looking bright for Apollo. But just not this week. South Warren 35 Apollo 14
