  1. Seems unlikely that a fanbase would be able to get enough numbers in an opponent's home arena to make that happen. I think having the PA Announcer ask for 30 seconds or something after the final buzzer to allow the opposing team to clear the court could help. They could direct the fans to where their team would be to allow them to celebrate together. It might not work in every case, but it could help in a lot of cases.
  2. Maybe they could make an announcement to have the fans give the opposition 15 seconds or something to clear the court. Maybe that works, maybe not. Outside of that, start making teams forfeit the games if there is a court storm. Either the fans would stop, or the teams would have enough security on site to prevent it. It would only take one or two instances of a win being reversed to put a chill on that action.
  3. The only game that they began with their entire roster available was the Ole Miss game. And Mitchell had to leave the game with injury in the 2nd half. So they haven't had their entire roster available for an entire game yet.
  4. It wasn't just the freak play on the last play of the game. LSU also bounced a free throw off of the top of the backboard, hit a prayer of a reverse layup, and had their big bury a three pointer as the shot clock ran out--all in the last few minutes of the game. Now, UK shouldn't have blown the big lead, but when that much goes against you at the end of the game, it just isn't your night.
  5. We appreciate the sacrifice that you are making by not watching the team for the rest of the year. We'll tape the NCAA Tourney for you.
  6. I think Alabama is actually a decent matchup with Kentucky. They seem to only have a passing interest in playing defense, and UK can defintely score. Every time I have thought UK was going in the tank so far this year, they have come up with a good game. Wildcats 92-88.
  7. Wayne County has the stats up for the game. They went 1-12 from three point range and 14-47 overall. DCA can do that to you, really good team defensively.
  8. Final from the Briar Patch. Somerset led this one pretty much from start to finish. The Jumpers were you 10 at the half, and got the lead up to 16 at one point.
  9. They played really well, especially on defense. Boyle looked to be really athletic, but their guards let the ball stick on their hands too much. That lead to a lot of contested shots, and the Jumpers were able to hold their own on the boards. Limiting the Rebels to one shot most of the time was key. Nice win for Somerset.
  10. Very impressive and much needed win. Going into the week I was genuinely afraid that the Cats might play themselves onto the bubble--or into an 8-9 seed. They have really played with more intesnity on defense, and more physicality on defense and on the boards. I'm not ready to say that they have everything figured out on defense, I think I saw that Auburn went 3-12 on what were considered open looks on three pointers, and missed several two point attempts that were considered open looks. However, the effort and physicality that they showed on defense was so much better than it has been. Great win in a tough place to play.
  11. Even if they don't shoot it like they did against South Carolina, they're rated 4th in defensive efficiency. A win there will be a huge upset.
  12. Teams as high as 33rd in the NET ratings have missed the tournament in the past. The won't be 20th on Monday morning. A 4-4 finish (or worse), that would extend this poor last month to an 8-9 second half of the season and drop them far enough in the ratings that it wouldn't be a real comfortable selection Sunday.
  13. He might decide he wants to stay for 2 years....but it won't be because he has to hope that a team will use a first round pick on him based on potential. CBS Sports has him going with the number 2 pick to San Antonio. Even if you don't set it up as a mock draft, they have him as the number 9 overall prospect and the #3 guard. NBA.com has him going 12th. I have yet to see a projection that doesn't have him in the lottery somewhere.
  14. As much as I like watching this team on offense, and as talented as they are, is it time to start worrying about them even making the NCAA Tournament. They're now 16-7 overall, 2-5 in Quad 1. In their last 8 games, they'll certainly be underdogs at Auburn and at Tennessee. The game at Mississippi State is looking like a toss-up at this point and at LSU will be no sure thing. The home games are Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas. That could realistically be a 4-4 (or worse) finish. I think a 20-11 record, and 6-8 down the stretch, could be on the outside looking in for a tournament birth barring a run in the SEC Tournament.
  15. When I was in high school at Somerset, Russell County was part of the 12th Region along with Laurel County (there was no North/South Laurel then). Rockcastle was in the 13th. When they came to the 12th, I think, is when Russell moved to the 4th. Or, it could have been when East and West Jessamine were added to the 12th, I can't remember.
  16. Given Somerset's style of play there's not really a way to replace him. The Jumpers have really good three point shooters, but Godby is really the only one that can consistently beat you off of the dribble in the half court sets. When he is out teams can get right up on the shooters without too much fear of getting beat on drives to the basket. DCA gave Somerset trouble because they had the big boy that could sit back and block shots when Godby slashed to the basket and they were able to overplay the rest of the shooters. When he gets back he totally changes the way defenses have to approach Somerset's offense. Hopefully he'll be back soon.
  17. Wouldn't that make the shortage of officials worse? You wouldn't need any during the fall break/bye week. But if everyone took off the same week, that would mean every team is playing the rest of the weeks.
  18. The KHSAA site shows them at 36.4% for the year. However, they only average 5 made 3s per game. One player has 43 of their 102 three point baskets. He shoots it at 42.6%.
  19. Boyle is 21-26 since the beginning of last season, and lost in the first round of the region last year. I wonder if what has worked in the past with their football athletes just doesn't work with the current crop?
  20. Tough night for the Briar Jumpers. DCA stayed right on Somerset's shooters on the perimeter. They weren't afraid to overplay on the shooters because the big kid inside erased or altered anything on drives into the lane. On their first few possessions the Jumpers were able to pull Ayiei away from the rim and Grundy was able to knock down some shots to put Somerset in the lead. It seemed like the Jumpers wanted to push the pace and get DCA to play the game faster than what they were used to. But the Warriors hit 5 or 6 threes in the first half to foil that plan. I'm not sure if Somerset would be better off trying to force pace next time, or keep turning the offense with 5 out until they get an open look. In some ways that would be playing into DCA's hand. But I'm not sure if they hit that many three pointers next time.
  21. I'm wondering why Foley was being discussed so much for this job. He's already coaching at the other school in the system. He's completely owned Pulaski County since he's been at Southwestern. Where is there any advantage in moving across town? It's the same system, the pay is going to be the same. He's got his staff in place at Southwestern. It's not a given that he can just take them all with him if he changes schools. And why would the Pulaski County school system put themselves through all the trouble of moving a coach and/or staff from one school to the other, then have to go through the whole process again at Southwestern? It just makes no sense that Foley would want the job, or that the school system would entertain the idea of moving him.
  22. Dangerous game for Kentucky here. With A&M of to an 0-2 start they're going to be desperate for a win to avoid an 0-3 SEC start. It's also been a bad week for ranked teams. I'm going to pick the Aggies at home 87-82.
  23. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.kentucky.com/sports/college/kentucky-sports/uk-basketball-men/article283912038.html There is the shot chart vs Florida. I don't see anything alarming. And I don't think they've been playing selfishly, but it seems like they've been getting more baskets off of one on one plays. Of course that might be due to the way Dillingham and Wagner can turn the corner and get in the paint. The scoring has remained steady, they've just been doing it a different way.
  24. Their offense, in spite of the average points scored staying steady, has not been as crisp as it was earlier in the season. In the last 2 games, Kentucky has 20 assists and 22 turnovers. They had assists on 33.8% of their made baskets. For the season they have 253 assists against only 127 turnovers and they have assists on 54.8% of their made baskets. It seems like they are getting their points off of individual plays a little bit more.
