Corbin wouldn’t help his wife get a job in the school system so he got on at SW and was their DC again this past year.

They got in a fight with Prestonsburg their last game. They have a big district game tomorrow. Their entire bench cleared, so that was probably so those players wouldn’t have to sit the district game.

They’re fine I think. But not as good as what Somerset is about to put up.

What Southwestern has going against them is they're in a three horse town, and a two horse district. If you want something nice done, it has to happen for PC. It also does them no favors their teacher pay is pretty terrible.

Wish Seneca Driver could be added to the mix. I know he's a JR but it's technically his SR year of basketball (his last one). Watching him and Ateny go at it was a blast Saturday. High level basketball.

I'm sure there will be ways to ensure all three are on the field at the same time, on offense and defense.

13th Region Boys Basketball Week 7: Here’s your week 7 rankings! Rankings: 1. North Laurel (14-4) - The Jags went 3-0 on the week pushing their win streak to six games now. They crushed Red Bird by 68, knocked off Jackson County by 38, and had a really solid win over Lincoln County by 32. You don’t see Lincoln Co get beat like that very often. This week the Jags will play OBI at home on Tuesday, and then a big time district game with Clay County on the road Friday which will likely lock up the one seed if they win. 2. Bell County (13-3) - The Bobcats went 1-1 on the week so I’m going to drop them down one spot in the rankings. They started the 2A off with a bang, knocking off a very talented Adair County team by 24. They followed that up though with a 8 point loss to eventual 2A Champion, Boyd County. This week will be a slow start with Harlan and Bluegrass United, but will end Saturday with a big one against GRC on the road. That will be must see basketball. 3. Clay County (12-6) - The Tigers had a solid week going 2-1. They knocked off Perry County Central by 7 at home, went on the road to beat Harlan IND by 12, and then barely got beat by Woodford Co by 1 at home in the Bobby Keith Classic. I would've loved to have seen them pull that one off. The Tigers have a big week with Berea at home on Tuesday, then North Laurel at home on Friday. If they have any shot to get the one seed, they’re going to have to avenge that earlier season loss to North. 4. Corbin (7-7) - The Redhounds went 2-0 on the week. A huge week that Corbin desperately needed. They knocked off South Laurel by 6 on the road in a rock fight, and then beat Williamsburg by 74 at home (good lord). This week they have another big district game with Whitley County at home on Tuesday, then Knox Central on the road Friday. There could be a lot of movement 4-8 this week. 5. South Laurel (9-8) - The Cardinals went 1-1 on the week. They suffered a brutal 6 point loss at home against Corbin, but did rebound nicely with a 3 point win on the road against Whitley. The 50th district is truly anyone's game, so these games are huge for seeding. This week South Laurel plays Williamsburg, Great Crossing at home, and Mason County on Saturday. 6. Whitley County (13-5) - The Colonels went 1-1 on the week. They beat Williamsburg, but gave up the driver's seat in the district as they got beat by 3 at home against South Laurel. With Whitley trying to get back into the region tournament, the one seed in the 50th is huge because it means avoiding South and Corbin. They’ve done themselves no favors. They do get a chance to get back to 2-1 in the district with Corbin on the road Tuesday. They finish the week up with Pineville on Friday, and Maryville Christian TN on Saturday. 7. Knox Central (8-5) - The Panthers went 1-0 this week with a hard fought win over Rockcastle in the Bobby Keith Classic. The Panthers are putting together a really nice year after losing their top player to transfer in the summer. This week they have a chance to move up the rankings with Lynn Camp on the road Tuesday, and Corbin at home on Friday. 8. Harlan County (9-6) - The Black Bears went 1-1 on the week. They knocked off Breathitt County at home on Tuesday by 19, but followed that up with a 19 point loss to Powell County in the Bobby Keith Classic. This week HC will take on Leslie County tonight, Knott Co Central Tuesday, and Middlesboro at home on Friday. 9. Jackson County (12-6) - The Generals went 2-1 this week beating Williamsburg by 68 and Middlesboro by 16, but losing to North Laurel by 38. The Generals look ahead with Knoxville Ambassadors TN on Tuesday, and then Williamsburg again on Thursday. 10. Harlan (7-10) - The Green Dragons went 2-2 this week beating Barbourville, and Middlesboro to win the All A Tournament. They lost to Clay County by 12 and Hazard by 18. Harlan is a fun team to watch, and I saw an unreal alley oop they threw down against Clay Co on Facebook. I wish I had saved it. This week they play Bell County at home Tuesday, Nicholas County for the first round of the All A, and then Martin County at home on Saturday. What a week for Harlan. 11. Middlesboro (9-8) - The Yellow Jackets went 1-2 this week with a win over OBI, and losses to Harlan and Jackson County. This week they play Thomas Walker VA, Red Bird, Harlan County, and Pineville. 12. OBI (6-8) - The Mountaineers went 1-1 with a win over Lynn Camp by 28 and a loss to Middlesboro by 1 in the All A. This week they play North Laurel, Red Bird, and Owsley County. 13. Barbourville (5-8) - The Tigers went 1-1 on the week with a loss to Harlan in the All A, then a 15 point win over Pineville. This week they play Trinity Christian, and Campbell Co TN. 14. Pineville (7-8) - The Mountain Lions went 0-1 this week. They lost to Barbourville again. This week they play Washburn TN, Whitley County, and Middlesboro. 15. Williamsburg (1-16) - The Yellow Jackets went 0-4 on the week losing to Jackson County, Whitley County, Knoxville Ambassadors, and Corbin. This week they play South Laurel, Jackson County, and Apostolic Christian School. 16.. Lynn Camp (5-12) - Lynn Camp went 0-1 this week with a loss to OBI. This week they play Knox Central and Red Bird. 17. Red Bird (4-7) - Red Bird went 0-1 this week with a loss to North Laurel. They get a chance to climb out of the last spot this week with games against Middlesboro, OBI, and Lynn Camp.

15th Region Boys Basketball Week 7: 7th week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it. We will have a new top dog! 1. Martin County (11-5) - When the Cardinals are locked in and on, they’re on. They went 2-0 on the week, the most impressive was a 21 point win over Pikeville in the 15th region All A Finals. Keathley went off for 26 and pulled down 12 boards. He’s the best player in the region IMO. They followed that up with a 24 point win over Magoffin County. This week they open the All A with Breathitt County on Thursday, then are set to go to Harlan on Saturday. 2. Pikeville (13-2) - The Panthers were rolling until Martin County came to town in the All A finals. The game was never really close, as the Panthers were steamrolled by 21. They did bounce back nicely with a 28 point win over Union VA and a 45 point win over East Ridge, but neither of those teams can hold a candle to Martin Co. This week Pikeville will play Shelby Valley at home, and Paintsville on the road Friday. 3. Johnson Central (11-3) - The Golden Eagles time at the 2A was short lived as they fell to Glasgow by 17. They only shot 34.5% from the field and 5/17 from the three point line. It made for a long night. This week JC is set to play Magoffin County at home tonight, and then Perry County Central at home on Friday. 4. Paintsville (10-7) - The Tigers went 2-0 this week. They beat Magoffin County by 15, and then Letcher County Central by 35. That makes them winners of 4 of their last 5. This week they are set to play FLoyd Central on Wednesday, and Pikeville on Friday. If they win those two, they will undoubtedly, creep a little bit more up the rankings . 5. Floyd Central (13-4) - The Jaguars had a big time win over Lawrence County to start off the week, by a final of 71-63. They lost the very next day though, to Perry County Central by 18. I would've liked to have seen them pull it off. Floyd gets a shot with the team right above them in the rankings, as they host Paintsville on Wednesday. They wrap the week up with Betsy Lane on the road Friday, and West Carter at home on Saturday. 6. Belfry (11-5) - The Pirates continue their great start to the year and go 2-0 this past week. They had a barn burner with Phelps where they won by 3, but then bounced back with a 14 point win over Lawrence County which was a statement game IMO. Peyton Owens led the way in it with 17. What a second year for HC Brent Perry. Belfry plays Prestonsburg, and Pike County Central this week. They have a great shot to be 13-5 after this week. 7. Lawrence County (9-8) - The Bulldogs went 1-2 on the week. That brings them to 4-7 in their last 11 and I believe we can officially say they’re reeling. They beat Shelby Valley to start the week by 11, but lost to Belfry by 14 and Floyd Central by 8. Lawrence is a team I thought would be able to contend for the title at the beginning of the year, but it’s not looking bright right now. This week they are set to play Russell, Prestonsburg, and Wayne WV. 8. Shelby Valley (11-7) - The Wildcats went 1-1 this week. Had a great shot to move some up the rankings, but ultimately fell to Lawrence County by 11. Gavin Hamilton led the way with 19 in the loss. They did bounce back nicely with a 17 point win over East Ridge. This week they will face PIkeville Tuesday, Phelps on Thursday, Kachea Co-Op TN on Friday, and Bryan Station on Saturday. 9. Pike County Central (11-5) - The Hawks went 3-0 on the week. They beat down Prestonsburg by 32, smacked around Cordia by 47, and knocked out Magoffin County by 19. Three beat downs. This week it will be a little tougher for PCC as they play Betsy Lane tonight on the road, Belfry at home on Thursday, and Phelps on the road Saturday. 10. Betsy Lane (5-8) - The Bobcats went 1-0 on the week. They beat Prestonsburg by 7 at home. This week they will play Pike County Central at home tonight, and then Floyd Central at home on Friday. If they can snag one of the two, it would be huge for BL. 11. Phelps (4-10) - The Hornets went 0-1 on the week. They lost to Belfry in a close one by 3. This week they play Jenkins, Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley, and Pike County Central. 12. East Ridge (6-10) - The Warriors went 1-3 on the week. They beat Ridgeview VA by 5, then lost to Shelby Valley, Mountain Mission School VA, and Pikeville. This week they play Hurley VA on the road Tuesday. 13. Magoffin County (2-14) - The Hornets went 0-3 on the week. They lost to Paintsville, Martin County, and Pike County Central. This week they play Johnson Central, Letcher County Central, and Estill County. 14. Prestonsburg (1-13) - The Blackcats went 0-2 this week. They lost to Pike County Central, and Betsy Lane. This week they play Belfry, Phelps, Lawrence County, and Lee County.

I know it's deeper than just get better, but it doesn't make sense to me to punish teams that are successful. Even though getting pushed from 4 to 5 would be a good thing right now.

Take Franklin County for example, would they get moved up for playing in the semi finals and the state championship pretty regularly since 2020, even though they've not won the big one yet?

They've had one wave of interviews already.

I misread as Mad Southern this morning. That is my fault, yes they would be an underdog there. Taylor, Mad Central, and Bell Co are their last three pretty competitive games and they all three come in a row. That will be a big stretch for the Jags.

15th Region Boys Basketball Week 6: 6th week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it! 1. Pikeville (11-1) - The Panthers continue to roll. They are now 11-1 after their 2 point win over Shelby Valley in the opening round of the All A. Carter Parsons hit a game winner to seal the win for the Panthers. This week they play Martin County tonight in the All A, Union VA on Thursday, then East Ridge on Friday. 2. Johnson Central (11-2) - The Golden Eagles took care of business this week going 2-0. They crushed Floyd Central by 22, and then knocked off Lawrence County by 6 to win the 2A Section 8. This week they are looking at Betsy Lane on Tuesday, then Glasgow to open up the 2A. Their game with Paintsville that was originally scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled. 3. Martin County (9-5) - The Cardinals went 2-0 on the week. They had two nice wins in the All A, first defeating Paintsville by 9, then knocking off Belfry by 3 in OT. This sets them up for a big time showdown with Pikeville tonight. They will finish the week with Magoffin County Thursday, then Huntington Expression Prep on Friday. 4. Lawrence County (8-6) - The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week with a 27 point win over Magoffin County in the 2A, but then dropped a game to Johnson Central by 6 in the 2A. Things are no easier as they play Shelby Valley tonight on the road, Belfry at home on Thursday, then Floyd Central at home on Friday. Three big games. 5. Floyd Central (12-3) - The Jaguars went 2-1 on the week with a 4 point win over Lebanon VA, a 5 point win over Pike County Central, but then were blown out by 22 to Johnson Central. I would’ve liked to have seen them be more competitive. This week they play Lawrence County on the road Friday, then Perry County Central on the road Saturday. 6. Paintsville (8-7) - The Tigers went 1-1 this week. They lost to Martin County by 9 to start the All A, then rebounded with a 14 point win over Phelps on the road. This week they’re looking at a game with Magoffin County Tuesday, and then Johnson Central on Friday. 7. Shelby Valley (10-6) - The Wildcats went 0-1 this week, but had the most impressive loss of the week so I’m not going to drop them. They took Pikeville to the brink, and lost off of a buzzer beater by 2. They get another shot to knock down one of the teams in front of them with Lawrence County at home tonight, then they finish with East Ridge on Wednesday. 8. Belfry (9-5) - The Pirates are having a great year and went 3-1 this week. Brent Perry is doing a great job bringing them back. They knocked off Betsy Lane, Scott County, Mingo Central, and had a narrow 3 point loss to Martin County in OT. They’re leaps and bounds better than where they were two years ago. This week they’ll play Phelps, Lawrence County, and Mingo Central. 9. Pike County Central (8-5) - The Hawks went 1-1 on the week. They lost to Floyd Central by 5, but beat Wolfe County by 19. This week they are set to play Prestonsburg tonight, then Magoffin at home on Friday. 10. Betsy Lane (4-8) - The Bobcats went 1-1 this week. They dropped a 21 point game to Belfry, but knocked off Lee County by 11. This week they play Johnson Central, and then Prestonsburg. 11. Phelps (4-9) - The Hornets went 0-1 on the week. They lost to Paintsville by 14. This week they play Belfry. 12. East Ridge (5-7) - The Warriors went 2-3 on the week. They lost to Belfry, Betsy Lane, and Pikeville.
