Honestly with those two being lower district games too.. North has the talent to just split squad it if they wanted I’m sure.

13th Region Boys Basketball Week 9: 9th week in the 13th in the books, let's look at it. I’ll say who each team is playing this week, and cover any games if any team played any. Rankings: 1. North Laurel (16-4) - The Jags were off this past week. This week they play Jackson County on the road Tuesday, OBI on the road Wednesday, Red Bird also on the road Wednesday, South Laurel on the road Friday, and Wayne County at GRC on Saturday which should be a pretty good game between one of the 12th regions better teams. 2. Bell County (16-3) - The Bobcats went 1-0 this past week with an absolute dominating win over district foe Harlan County by 38. An unreal beatdown. Freshman Braxton Ferguson went for the perfect game with 27, and went 5-5 from 2, 3-3 from 3, and 8-8 from the line. What a game for the young man. This week Bell Co plays Jelico at home on Tuesday, and then Corbin on the road Thursday. 3. Clay County (13-7) - The Tigers were off this past week. This week they play Clinton County, Jackson County, Barbourville, and Red Bird. 4. Whitley County (16-5) - The Colonels went 1-0 on the week with a 59 point win over Williamsburg. A lot of kids got in the scoring column, but none had more than Bryson Mahan who led the way with 17. The Colonels have a huge week with Corbin at home on Tuesday, then Lee County, and Franklin County to wrap up the week. 5. Corbin (8-8) - The Redhounds were off this past week. This week they play Whitley County, Bell County, and Russell County. 6. South Laurel (10-9) - The Cardinals were off this past week. This week they play Harlan County, Williamsburg, and North Laurel. 7. Knox Central (11-6) - The Panthers went 1-0 on the week with a 40 point win over district and crosstown rival Barbourville. This week they play Pineville, Leslie COunty, and Phelps. 8. Harlan County (13-7) - The Black Bears went 1-1 on the week and they were two district games. The first they got throttled by Bell County by 38, but did bounce back nicely with a 19 point win over Harlan. This week they play South Laurel, Middlesboro, and Madison Southern. 9. Jackson County (14-6) - The Generals were off this past week. This week they play North Laurel, Clay County, Casey County, and Boone County. 10. Harlan (8-12) - The Green Dragons went 0-1 this past week with a 19 point loss in the district to rival Harlan County. This week they are set to play Hazard, Middlesboro, and Pineville. 11. Middlesboro (11-9) - The Yellow Jackets were off this past week. This week they are set to play Harlan, Pineville, and Harlan County. 12. OBI (7-9) - The Mountaineers were off this past week. This week they are set to play Prestonsburg, Red Bird, and North Laurel. 13. Barbourville (6-10) - The Tigers went 0-1 on the week with a 40 point loss to Knox Central. This week they are set to play Williamsburg, Lynn Camp, and Clay County. 14. Pineville (8-9) - The Mountain Lions were off this past week. This week they are set to play Knox Central, Middlesboro, Lynn Camp, Harlan, and Heritage Florence. 15. Red Bird (5-9) - Red Bird was off this past week. This week they are set to play OBI, North Laurel, and Clay County. 16. Lynn Camp (5-14) - The Wildcats were off this past week. This week they are set to play Barbourville, Pineville, and Model. 17. Williamsburg (1-19) - The Yellow Jackets went 0-1 this past week losing by 59 to Whitley County. This week they are set to play Barbourville, South Laurel, and Frankfort Christian.

15th Region Boys Basketball Week 9: 9th week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it. I’ll say who each team is playing this week, and cover any games if any team played any. 1. Martin County (13-6) - The Cardinals went 1-0 on the week. They had a big time win over Johnson Central on the road by 4. Keathley did what he does and had 25, Dials had 19, and Maynard had 15. A big time win in a hostile environment. This week they play Paintsville, Magoffin County, Independence WV, and South Charleston WV. 2. Johnson Central (13-4) - The Golden Eagles went 0-1 on the week with a four point loss to Martin County. Austin Slone went for 34, but Brayden Shepherd had an off night who is usually their consistent second man. As a team they went 15-23 from the free throw line. Things get no easier with Ashland on the road Wednesday, and Paintsville on the road Friday. 3. Floyd Central (16-4) - The Jaguars went 1-0 on the week. They beat Rowan County by 8 on the road Friday night. Freshman Lucas Howard put up 23 in the win, and Dyland Boyd added in 22. Spriggs also went for 14. This week they are set to play Prestonsburg at home on Friday. 4. Paintsville (11-8) - The Tigers were off the entire week. This week they play Martin County on the road Tuesday, and Johnson Central at home on Friday. 5. Pikeville (14-3) - The Panthers were off last week. This week they play East Ridge at home Thursday, and Boyd County at home on Saturday. 6. Belfry (15-6) - The Pirates went 0-1 on the week. They lost a 5 point game on the road to Lewis County Saturday. All the snow and ice may have cooled them off. We will see as this week they are set to play Phelps on the road Thursday, Scott WV on the road Friday, and Hazard at home on Saturday. 7. Lawrence County (11-9) - The Bulldogs went 1-0 last week. They got to play one game against Wayne WV on the road and came away with a 10 point win. This week they play Letcher County Central at home tonight, Shelby Valley at home tomorrow, Betsy Lane Friday on the road, and Tug Valley on the road Saturday. 8. Shelby Valley (14-8) - The Wildcats went 1-0 on the week. They beat East Ridge on the road by 20. Brady Johnson went for 33, and Gavin Hamilton went for 19 in the win. This week they play Lawrence County on the road Tuesday, Betsy Lane at home Thursday, and Grundy VA at home Saturday. 9. Pike County Central (13-6) - The Hawks went 1-0 on the week with a 14 point win over East Ridge. Freshman Owen Bowman had 22 to lead the way in the win. This week they play Phelps at home tonight, Tug Valley on the road Friday, Wolfe County also on the road Friday, and Owsley County at home on Saturday. 10. Betsy Lane (6-10) - The Bobcats went 1-0 this past week with a 16 point win over Prestonsburg on the road. This week they play Phelps at home Tuesday, Shelby Valley on the road Thursday, Lawrence County at home on Friday, and Phelps on the road Saturday. 11. Phelps (6-11) - The Hornets were off this past week. This week they play Pike County Central, Betsy Lane, Belfry, Mingo Central WV, Knox Central, and Betsy Lane. 12. East Ridge (7-12) - The Warriors went 0-2 on the week with losses to Pike County Central, and Shelby Valley. This week they play June Buchanan, Pikeville, and Magoffin County. 13. Magoffin County (3-16) - The Hornets were off this past week. This week they play East Carter, Martin County, East Ridge, and Mingo Central WV. 14. Prestonsburg (1-17) - The Blackcats went 0-1 this past week losing to Betsy Lane by 16. This week they play OBI, and Floyd Central.

It was just a point for the one game comparison that was pulled. He had solid offensive and defensive stats for this past year, and they’re only going to be better this year.

Boyle threw it 5 times. Beechwood threw it 29. You don’t have to pass when you’re running for 536 yards.

Boyle also had a RB go for 450 yards and it was a clock runner. Pretty different game script from getting beat by 28 and having to throw the entire game.

Would be awesome to see him go the same route. Mayer plays on Sundays and that’s a lot to put on a HS JR right now, but I think the possibility is for sure there.

Not the stats when they played against each other. Lorenzen had 6 more TDs on the year, but Driver had more yards and way more stats on defense since Lorenzen doesn’t really play that side of the ball.

Seems like their Achilles heal is defense. Never a lack of scoring points.

Per WYMT. Allen Mitchell was named the new head football coach at Lynn Camp High School, officials announced Wednesday. Mitchell had coached South Laurel previously, leading the Cardinals for two seasons before resigning in 2023. Mitchell replaces Darrell Hendrix, who had been the Wildcats coach for the past three seasons. The Lynn Camp alum has nearly 30 seasons of coaching experience, which includes multiple district and regional championships. He also was a part of Lynn Camp’s 2003 Regional Championship team.

Here's to hoping Boyle and Lincoln happen Friday, even though both schools have cancelled the rest of the week.

15th Region Boys Basketball Week 8: 8th week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it. 1. Martin County (12-6) - The Cardinals had a decent showing at the State All A. They opened things up with a 28 point win over Breathitt County, but then were knocked off by Walton-Verona by 7. I would've liked to have seen them go a little further. This week they play Shelby Valley on the road Wednesday night, and then Johnson Central at home on Friday. 2. Johnson Central (13-3) - The Golden Eagles went a perfect 2-0 on the week. They crushed Magoffin County by 29, and put it on Perry County Central by 18. They have also added Ethan Cole from Paintsville, so we will stay up to date with his eligibility each week. This week they have a big one with Pikeville at home tomorrow, Martin County on the road Friday, and Letcher County Central Saturday. 3. Floyd Central (15-4) - The Jaguars had a massive week this past week. They beat Paintsville at home by 1, and then beat Betsy Lane by 28. Floyd Central is starting to roll. This week they play Lawrence County again on Friday. 4. Paintsville (11-8) - The Tigers went 1-1 on the week. They lost a head scratcher to Floyd Central by 1, and then one of their top players Ethan Cole transferred across the street. They finished the week in a big way though with a 8 point win at home against Pikeville. Maybe they got the spark they needed. This week they play Magoffin County, and Ashland Blazer. 5. Pikeville (14-3) - The Panthers had a let down this week going 2-1. The 35 point win over East Ridge was good, and the 17 point win over Shelby Valley was nice too. The 8 point loss to Paintsville was disappointing. Things do not get easier with Johnson Central on the road tomorrow. That’s their only game, if it gets played this week. 6. Belfry (15-5) - What a week for the Pirates. It started off with a disappointing win over Prestonsburg by 1. The headline of this one was the fight that happened in the middle of the game. This led to two games being added to the schedule Wednesday night with Hurley VA and Mingo Central WV, both which Belfry won by 56 and 29. Then Thursday was the big district matchup with Pike County Central, which saw Belfry go on the road and win by 6. I believe things are now back to normal. The Pirates play Tug Valley WV, and Lewis County this coming weekend. 7. Lawrence County (10-9) - The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week. They lost to Russell at home by 10, but then beat Prestonsburg at home by 46. I thought they had a chance to make some noise this year but I’m not so sure now. This week they play Elliott County, Floyd Central, and Wayne WV. 8. Shelby Valley (13-8) - The Wildcats went 2-1 on the week. They lost to Pikeville by 17, but followed that up with a 12 point win over Phelps and a 13 point win over Kachea Co–Op. Sounds like something off of the movie Cars. This week they are squared to play Martin County, East Ridge, and Hurley VA. 9. Pike County Central (12-6) - The Hawks went 1-1 on the week. They knocked off Betsy Lane in the battle of 9/10, but lost to Belfry at home by 6 in a game they could’ve won. This week they are set to play East Ridge on Tuesday, and Phelps on Friday, with both games coming at home. 10. Betsy Lane (5-10) - The Bobcats went 0-2 this past week. They lost to PCC by 8, then were blown out by Floyd Central by 28. This week they only have one game, and it’s with Prestonsburg on Friday. 11. Phelps (6-11) - The Hornets went 2-1 this past week. They beat Jenkins and Prestonsburg, and lost to Shelby Valley. This week they play Pike County Central. 12. East Ridge (7-10) - The Warriors went 1-0 on the week. They beat Hurley VA by 41. This week they play Pike County Central, and Shelby Valley. 13. Magoffin County (3-16) - The Hornets went 1-2 this past week. They lost to Johnson Central and Letcher County Central. They beat Estill County. This week they play Paintsville, and West Carter. 14. Prestonsburg (1-16) - The Blackcats went 0-3 this week. They lost to Belfry, Phelps, and Lawrence County. This week they play Betsy Lane, and Pineville.

13th Region Boys Basketball Week 8: Here’s your week 8 rankings! Rankings: 1. North Laurel (16-4) - Another week down, another perfect week. The jags went 2-0 this week. They crushed OBI then locked in the one seed for district with a 12 point win over Clay County on the road. There’s no team in the 13th more hot right now than North Laurel. They’ve yet to lose in 2026. Their game with Boyle this week has already been cancelled. Right now, they’re looking at OBI away Friday, and Red Bird away Saturday. 2. Bell County (15-3) - The Bobcats went 2-0 this week to start a little win streak of their own. They beat Harlan by 36 in a district game on the road, and then knocked off Bluegrass United by 46. Neither game was close at all. This week the schedule is showing Harlan County on the road tomorrow, Middlesboro Friday, and then a big game with Bowling Green on Saturday. 3. Clay County (13-7) - The Tigers had a decent week going 1-1. They knocked off Berea by 61, but still can’t get over that North Laurel hump so far this year. They couldn't defend home court as they were beaten by 12. This surely locks them into the 2 seed for the district, but they still should have no problem making the region. This week they are set to play Middlesboro tomorrow, and then Jackson County on the road Friday. 4. Whitley County (13-5) - The Colonels went 2-0 on the week which was huge for district standings. They bounced back from their loss to South Laurel, with a 3 point win at Corbin. Anytime you get a win at Corbin in a district game, it’s a big deal. They also finished the week up with a 21 point win over Pineville. This moves them to 2-1 in the district, with a huge game at South Laurel set for tomorrow. They also play Williamsburg at home on Friday. 5. Corbin (8-8) - The Redhounds are still fighting to finish a week over .500. This past week saw them take a tough one on the chin at home to Whitley County by 3, but they came back nicely with a come from behind win over Knox Central on the road by 5. They were in the driver's seat in the 50th, but now are in a 3 way tie for that one seed. This week they try to take back control over it with a game at Williamsburg tomorrow, and at home with South Laurel on Friday. 6. South Laurel (10-9) - The Cardinals went 1-1 on the week for the second straight week in a row. They crushed Williamsburg by 67, but fell at home by two to Great Crossing. They had a massive comeback but couldn’t pull it off in the end. This week they have two huge district games to fight for that one seed, with Whitley County at home tomorrow, and Corbin on the road Friday. This could put them in the drivers seat at 4-1 in the district. 7. Knox Central (10-6) - The Panthers went 1-1 on the week with a 28 point win over Lynn Camp on the road, and a 5 point loss to Corbin at home. I watched the first half of this one, and it was nip and tuck the whole way. Eventually Corbin went on a run last, and that ended up being the difference in this one. Knox is back in action with Pineville tomorrow, Barbourville Thursday at home, and McCreary Central at Rock Saturday in the Rocket Classic. 8. Harlan County (12-6) - Don’t look now, but the Black Bears may be finding their groove. This week they had three wins over Leslie County by 6, Knott County Central by 4, and Middlesboro by 19. A solid week all in all. They have a huge one to see where they stand tomorrow against Bell County at home. They finish the week Friday with Harlan at home. Two huge games for district seeding. 9. Jackson County (14-6) - The Generals went 2-0 on the week. They’re putting together a nice season all things considered. They beat Knoxville Ambassadors by 19, and then Williamsburg by 45. This week they have a shot to shoot up the rankings with a big district game with Clay County at home on Friday. This game could show they’re ready to compete to make the region tournament. 10. Harlan (8-12) - The Green Dragons went 1-2 on the week. They lost to Bell County by 36. They opened up the All A State tournament with a 4 point win over Nicholas County. They then took Newport to the wire, only dropping that game by 1 in OT. Not a bad showing at all. They have a huge district matchup on Friday with Harlan County on the road. They also will play Rockcastle County on the road Saturday. 11. Middlesboro (11-9) - The Yellow Jackets went 2-1 this week with wins over Thomas Walker, and Red Bird. They lost to Harlan County. They play Clay County, and Bell County this week. 12. OBI (7-9) - The Mountaineers went 1-1 this week with a win over Red Bird and a loss to North Laurel. This week they play North Laurel, and Leslie County. 13. Barbourville (6-9) - The Tigers went 1-1 on the week with a win over Trinity Christian, and a loss to Berea. This week they will play Knox Central, and Casey County. 14. Pineville (8-9) - The Mountain Lions went 1-1 this past week with a win over Washburn TN, and a loss to Whitley County. This week they play Knox Central, Lynn Camp, and Prestonsburg. 15. Red Bird (5-9) - Red Bird went 1-2 this week snapping a losing streak to Lynn Camp, by knocking them off by 15. They lost to Middlesboro and OBI. This week they play Cordia, and North Laurel. 16.. Lynn Camp (5-14) - Lynn Camp went 0-1 this week with a loss to Knox Central and Red Bird. This week they play Owsley County, Pineville, and Thomas Walker. 17. Williamsburg (1-19) - The Yellow Jackets went 0-3 on the week losing to South Laurel, Jackson County, and Apostolic Christian School. This week they play Corbin, Whitley County, and Trinity Christian.

Class of 2028 OL/DL Christian Bryant picks up the Louisville offer today. Will lead the way on the line of scrimmage for both sides this coming season for The Rebels.

Congrats to Coach Payne. Great friend, great guy. Was DC there from 2019-2021, and 2025. Was the Head Coach at Madison Southern 22-24. He loves the area and a lot of the kids love him. He will do a good job once they get it rolling.
