Nelson County Schools alone have five elementary schools and two middle schools along with the addition of Thomas Nelson ten years or so, they now have to get out and "sell their program to the kids" as they have choices. This isn't to mention Bardstown and Bethlehem High School in the city. The 5th region is an underrated region as they have two counties (Hardin and Nelson) that make up over half of the teams within the region. Outside of the 6th, 7th and 11th I assume that there isn't any other region can make that claim.

Agreed. As I stated I haven't seen Todd play personally but a couple people have told me he will be a huge addition to the Vikings and will be one of the top players in the paint in the 16th region the next couple of seasons.

Recapping today’s actions, state champion winning coach Scott Chalk has changed his approach and has decided to not play to win in his latter part of career by not playing the best players but playing the sub par to the reserves. A lot of ould’s in this thread, he could be a different class, he should be on the court more, he would produce more than the other kids who are on the court if he got the chance. I don’t know Robby, however at all levels of basketball breaking down a point per minute production is the most unrealistic stat in the game. There is a reason certain ones play more than others and a lot of time that production comes against other reserves not other starters and it is a lot easier to get more production per minute in a smaller sample size, i.e. less minutes. I can’t believe that Scott Chalk has decided to play not to win anymore, unfathomable it is hard to fathom.

Smith is a Phelps alum, he will have some big shoes to fill replacing Samsom who won the 57th district the last two seasons with the Hornets.

I have been hearing same thing as well, I have heard Mike Deaton is the likely choice here. Deaton most recently coach at Bethlehem.

Many think next coach will be Lee County girls coach Matt Patterson, his son was a freshman last year for Lee County.

Union County star guard has transferred to Madisonville North Hopkins. Last summer he transferred there for a week and went back to Union, let’s see if he does the same.

Robby Todd, junior to be has transferred from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School to Rowan County. Todd was in the Bulldogs 7-8 man rotation last year as a sophomore and will be a nice addition to the Vikings the next two seasons. Todd is the son of current Morehead State womens coach, Greg Todd. Prep Hoops KY reported this news earlier.

You know how it is going to play out, publicized transfers aren’t sitting the bench.

I am not but a local parent whose son loses some playing time will. Two starters gone, there are two local kids who are expecting to move into that spot.

They return three or four starters from this year. With these three additions and possible another one sometime more can be detrimental.

According to twitter reports this morning, Ashland has gained three transfers for next season. Zander Carter, incoming freshman from Greenup County is now a Tomcat. Sean Marcum is 6’9 and will be a senior while Tyler Marcum is 6’8 will be a junior. Both Marcum kids are from West Virginia. I do not have any information on them and also their relation.
