  1. Recapping today’s actions, state champion winning coach Scott Chalk has changed his approach and has decided to not play to win in his latter part of career by not playing the best players but playing the sub par to the reserves. A lot of ould’s in this thread, he could be a different class, he should be on the court more, he would produce more than the other kids who are on the court if he got the chance. I don’t know Robby, however at all levels of basketball breaking down a point per minute production is the most unrealistic stat in the game. There is a reason certain ones play more than others and a lot of time that production comes against other reserves not other starters and it is a lot easier to get more production per minute in a smaller sample size, i.e. less minutes. I can’t believe that Scott Chalk has decided to play not to win anymore, unfathomable it is hard to fathom.
  2. What is the latest on this job. This isn’t JCPS, would the Centurions hire Ellis Myles, Derek Anderson or DeJuan Wheat?

  4. Smith is a Phelps alum, he will have some big shoes to fill replacing Samsom who won the 57th district the last two seasons with the Hornets.
  5. I have been hearing same thing as well, I have heard Mike Deaton is the likely choice here. Deaton most recently coach at Bethlehem.
  6. With the abundance of transfers that go on, lets start a list of kids who have transferred to a new school. If it is a middle school kid that didn't play high school last year but changes schools we will not list them, but if they did play high school as a middle school student and have changed schools we will mention their name. IN STATE TRANSFERS 1.) Sosthene Kamba - 10th Grade Louisville Eastern (New School) Ballard (Old School) 2.) Ben Wilson - 10th Grade Louisville Eastern (New School) Ballard (Old School) 3.) 7. Many think next coach will be Lee County girls coach Matt Patterson, his son was a freshman last year for Lee County.
  8. Union County star guard has transferred to Madisonville North Hopkins. Last summer he transferred there for a week and went back to Union, let’s see if he does the same.
  9. Robby Todd, junior to be has transferred from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School to Rowan County. Todd was in the Bulldogs 7-8 man rotation last year as a sophomore and will be a nice addition to the Vikings the next two seasons. Todd is the son of current Morehead State womens coach, Greg Todd. Prep Hoops KY reported this news earlier.
  10. You know how it is going to play out, publicized transfers aren’t sitting the bench.
  11. I am not but a local parent whose son loses some playing time will. Two starters gone, there are two local kids who are expecting to move into that spot.
  12. They return three or four starters from this year. With these three additions and possible another one sometime more can be detrimental.
  13. According to twitter reports this morning, Ashland has gained three transfers for next season. Zander Carter, incoming freshman from Greenup County is now a Tomcat. Sean Marcum is 6’9 and will be a senior while Tyler Marcum is 6’8 will be a junior. Both Marcum kids are from West Virginia. I do not have any information on them and also their relation.
  14. Lee County head coaching position has been posted on their school website as vacant.
  15. With Coach Coleman leaving for Manual, the Redhawks job is now open. Seneca will be a top 3-5 team pre season in the 7th entering the year with their top three scorers returning including Delshawn Simms who averaged over 16 a game.
  16. After four seasons at Seneca, Coleman has accepted the open position a Manual.
  17. Steve Barker most recently coached at Apollo High School taking the Eagles to the Sweet 16 during the 2017-2018 season. Barker is now the coach of the Musketeers according to the press release.
  18. Great let me repeat GREAT hire by Betsy Layne. This is the press release that I came across. Betsy Layne Boys Basketball has a new head coach, Derrick Newsome. Newsome is leaving the Pike County Central Lady Hawks where he compiled a overall record of 104-81 (.562) in 6 seasons including 2 60th District titles (2017 & 2018).
  19. On twitter this evening came across that the Green County boys position is now vacant.
  20. This is a copy of the press release available below, any of the Hardin County / 5th region representation on the board have any recollection of White? Whitley County High School has named their new boys basketball coach. Mark White will replace Jerry Overbey who stepped down in early March after 9 years at the helm. White comes to Whitley with an impressive resume including a 5 year stop at Mississippi State University in the SEC under coach Rick Stansburry. He had stints as a head coach at both East Mississippi College and Tallahassee Community College where he compiled a combined 240-99 (71%) career mark. He was named his district and region coach of the year four different seasons. He does have high school head coaching experience as well, he spent 2 years as the head coach at Central Hardin High School in Western Kentucky in the early 2000's and last season at Grace Christian High School in Knoxville, his 3 year record as a high school head coach is 45-36. He inherits a Colonel team that returns 93% of last year’s scoring, 86% of last year’s rebounding which includes 4 starters and the entire bench from this past season. White is a Kentucky native and will relocate to Whitley County. A formal introduction of White will take place at a later date via the school districts social media outlets.
  21. Didn’t know that, makes sense though. I agree
  22. Julian Tackett has said on more than one occasion that the KHSAA could go bankrupt and fold from the pandemic, if it does who rules? I don’t think it will go under but the thought has been at least thrown out there and the possibility is there. Tackett has even said they may start charging membership fees from schools to help re coupe some of the money, this would be similar to the fees schools are charges to be in the 2A or a “conference” that you see running around or even region coaches associations. I hope they don’t go under but for some reason if they did, whoever is next please re align. I would like to see the three team districts fo away and even out districts with a minimum of four team’s in each as well as 16 teams at a minimum in each region.
