The Professor
Lee County’s team has consisted of mostly 8th grade or freshmen starters the last 2 years. They have potential. Zach Watterson will be a sophomore guard next season and averaged about 25 ppg as a freshman (and is also a darn good golfer who will almost certainly play college golf after his high school days.) They’re mostly guard oriented with not much size. When we played them last year they had 2 or 3 kids that would get on streaks and make 4 to 5 treys within a short amount of time. So, whoever the new coach is will inherit a young team that has varsity experience because some were starters as early as middle school. The Professor
Many think next coach will be Lee County girls coach Matt Patterson, his son was a freshman last year for Lee County. I think you’re referring to Matt Watterson. He has been the girls coach for several years. Yes, his son is Zach, the sophomore-to-be who averaged 25 ppg last year. I haven’t heard anything about him being interested in the job or the administration being interested in moving him from the girls to the boys program but no doubt that’s a possibility. The Professor
Is Danny Wright still in Lee County? Always thought he did a really good job there. Yes, he works at the high school. After he retired from coaching he was their Athletic Director. I’m not sure he’s still doing that, though.
