  1. Well I just know what I have seen in person, see online on the roster, and what I have been told. Either way the offensive play calling has cost them multiple wins this season and it is apparent that outside influence is what is driving the ship. That we can all agree on.
  2. https://khsaa.org/roster_view/new.php?school_id=213&sport=fb&level=varsity The roster says otherwise as well.
  3. Not from what I have been told from people on the staff. If he is the one calling plays then he might need to hire somebody.
  4. I don't think that at any point @gcbleedblue was saying that Graves is going to win this game or even keep it that close because lets face it they shouldn't if Owensboro is as good as they are supposed to be. Heck I believe most of Graves County starting offense doesn't even have a driving license. Graves is a young team who has improved over the weeks and is developing nicely for yet again a young roster.
  5. Then that change has recently happened and if Thompson was the one calling the plays against Henry Co seems like there are some problems.
  6. The OC is the QBs private QB coach who has coached him thru every grade he has played, also happens to work for the QBs father, who also happens to have his company logo on the new turf field, donated $80K to renovate the wrestling facility, who is also working to get PT a new indoor facility that's bigger than rival McCracken County, and has donated who knows how much else to the schools athletic budget and has been involved in a lot of the hiring and firing of multiple coaches and athletic directors. Now how much control do you think the head coach has over that situation lol. The offensive play calling cost them multiple games over the past couple seasons.
  7. If you don't understand what is going on with the play calling at PT by now I don't really know what else to tell you.
  8. Logan may have lost to Greenwood but they still played them. They also still have South Warren on the schedule as well. Playing those types of teams win or lose make you better. I'm not saying Warren East is terrible but that schedule isn't helping them get better.
  9. So far the teams that Warren East has beat have a record of 9-31. I am going to go out on a limb and say that when they run into a team that has played a good schedule they will struggle. When would they have to see Logan Co in the playoffs? That is where the party will end I believe.
  10. I believe that a kid that gets 5 years in a solid weight room program and 5 years of varsity coaching does have an advantage over a kid who gets held back in elementary or middle school. Yes there have been hold backs playing forever but the extra year in high school makes a big difference over the kids who were held back in the years before high school.
  11. I believe this can be a really good football game. Both of these teams are 0-2 coming into this game but both have played 2 teams who are believed to be in the title hunt this year for their classes. Both of these teams and coaching staffs are hungry for a win right now and will do everything they can to get one Friday night. I'll take Graves in a close one.
  12. He may have completed the ball to 8 WR against Graves but it was for less than 100 yards and most of those came at the end of the game when PT was throwing screens for no reason when they should have been handing the ball off to run the clock out. If PT wants to win this game they must run the ball successfully because if they get into 2nd and 3rd and longs Mayfield will have a plan to attack protection and matches up even better with the WR than Graves did.
  13. If Graves can get the offense going they can win some games. The defense is pretty good and can give teams problems when they aren't stuck with bad field position or on the field for long periods of time. This game easily could have been 17-7 Graves at halftime but the youth continues to show up. I believe the coaching staff will get it right as players get more experience and the offense continues to evolve. Starting the season with the #3 team in 2A and the #1 team in 3A is pretty tough on a team as young as Graves.
  14. I feel like I say this every year but 5A is such a good football class top to bottom. It is loaded with Blueblood programs, relatively new great programs, talented players, and some of the best coaching staffs in the state. Even the teams outside of the top 10 that float in the 11-15 range are really good programs with good coaching staffs that can always pull off an upset.
  15. I don't put them in Fools Gold because they are a good program with some incredible players but over the last 3 season they have had multiple Power 5 players and several FBS players who are not just attending college and on the football team but are starting or contributing. There is not another team in the state that has had the run of talent that FD has had. Something just seems to be missing to get them over that hump in the big ones. I do believe their schedule hurts them down the stretch which they cannot do much about because they are required to play so many Lexington schools. I like that they are playing Boyle but they need to get another power on the schedule if possible like a Male, St. X, or Trinity.
  16. I think that FD has had more talent than almost anybody in the state for the last few season but have just came up short and something seems to be missing to get them over the hump. My pick in 5A this season is Owensboro. They are talented, deep, well coached, and play with an edge that many teams cannot match. Their only issue seems to be playing on the road. At home Owensboro is almost impossible to beat so I believe beating them this season you will have to get them out of their backyard. If you gotta go there good luck.
  17. PT had 2 5th year WR/DBs last year that were very big for them that have graduated. I wouldn't worry to much about the WR spots. You have a O-Line with 2 Tackles with D1 offers and a very, very good RB. The WRs will develop as the season goes on. I would throw the ball just enough to keep a defense honest but I am giving the RB 25-30 carries a game.
  18. I agree with you about South Warren but sometimes the defending champ is voted #1 until proven otherwise. FD has the most talent but you can say that the last 4 years but I believe Owensboro is one of the top teams to win it all this year. Graves is a very good program with a good culture and coaches who do a lot with the talent they have but year in and year out they just do not have the horses that some of the top programs in 5A have. When Graves has some talent they always seem to get the maximize it which to me proves good coaching.
  19. Amazing what happens when the community gets behind a school system. Excellent job by the school system delivering on what they promised with facility upgrades for the district.
  20. Graves was without a couple of key starters that played on both sides of the ball that game due to Covid but it was a track meet style game that's for sure.
  21. They lost a lot of players that will be hard to replace but return some really nice players. They will be young upfront and have a really good Sophomore class. I believe that Owensboro should be preseason top 3 in 5A. I'm sure South Warren will be #1 and Douglass #2 but Owensboro is going to be very good next year and honestly might be a favorite to win it all. But in football and a long season who knows what can happen and anybody can have an off night and get beat.
  22. Pretty much the same start as always except for Bullitt East. Graves always plays Mayfield, McCracken, and PT in the first few weeks of the season. When Murray dropped them a few years ago they had to find a game and Bullitt East happened to be looking for one as well.
  23. It is crazy to me that some schools do not offer this as an elective class. Heck there are some schools who are on the field practicing during the last period of the school day.
  24. What is moving up from a place like Boyle? The talent, pride, tradition, and community/administration support he and his staff receive are second to none in the state. They are title contenders every year and the only places I can say would seem like a move up would be one of the big privates after he gets his years in for retirement in the public school system much like Kevin Wallace did leaving BG for St. X. Or does he have the desire to ever coach at the college level? Those are the only things that I would consider being a move up for a coach like him at a place like Boyle.
