  1. I hear Varga had a big night for St. X. Any stats, Tigerpride94?
  2. Trinity has one senior on its roster who saw limited playing time last year, scoring a total of 39 points. A majority of the players in their rotation came through the Catholic school system, which may differ from their stronger teams in the past. I expect they'll improve through the course of the year, but a top-10 preseason ranking was pretty aggressive.
  3. Per the KHSAA site, Luke Morrison was 1-6 from the 3-point line, finished with 9 points, and did not shoot a free throw last night against Louisville Collegiate. That's a surprising stat line for him.
  4. Is there a consolation bracket for this tournament? Three games guaranteed for each team?
  5. I think Fern Creek will go 2-1 in that stretch and will be surprised if one of the wins is not over Trinity.
  6. A few names to consider: Jake Whitlock from Spencer County is a solid point guard on both ends of the court. He doesn't make many mistakes with the ball. Deaton Oak and Xander Wagner from Oldham County should have big years with expanded roles. Oak can get really hot from distance, and Wagner is an athletic big man. Look for Caleb Hawley to emerge as Collins' #3 scoring threat. Three point shooters at North Oldham will benefit from Justin Powell's passing ability. Powell will make all his teammates better. Ben Michel at South Oldham will improve from last year's freshman season.
  7. Oldham County scrimmages at St. Xavier tomorrow (11/26) beginning at 6 pm.
  8. Bardstown v. North Oldham will be a battle of two Mr. Basketball candidates in Traynor & Powell.
  9. I saw that Fern Creek and their strong group of juniors beat North Oldham 67-61 in a scrimmage. I think Spencer County scrimmaged Eastern but I did not see a final score or any highlights.
  10. A play that set the tone for the game was during CAL's first possession. A long pass took the ball to around the DeSales 10 yard line. However, an excessive celebration penalty against CAL brought the ball back to the DeSales 25 and CAL failed to score on the possession. Penalties like that one cost CAL throughout the game.
  11. The schedule may be front-loaded, but you should be on a 10-game winning streak heading into districts!
  12. It's not unreasonable to believe that the third place finisher in districts 29 (Oldham County, South Oldham or North Oldham) and 30 (Collins, Spencer County, or Woodford County) - a team that doesn't even make it to the 8th region tournament - would be the favorite to win some regions throughout the state.
  13. ColonelMike, this is outstanding! I'm sure some will question the rankings and predictions (perhaps a Spencer County fan or two), but no one will question the thorough amount of research you did for this preview. Thanks for putting this together!
  14. Frankfort (IN) Hotdogs and Hoopeston (IL) Cornjerkers are two of my favorites outside Kentucky.
  15. South Oldham's Luke Morrison has committed to Kentucky Wesleyan.
  16. Just looked at your schedule Cardsrule1972 . . . a five day stretch in December with a home game v. South Oldham and away games v. North Oldham and Oldham County will tell you a lot about your team!
  17. Cardsrule1972, your three juniors are really strong, but who do you see replacing Seawright and Cole for Spencer Co. this year?
