  1. Down 14 at the half. Really nice win for SK playing without 2 starters due to injury and illness. Good team win. And a big congratulations to Brynli Pernell on 1000!
  2. Both teams played a good game. There are no moral victories, but you can take away some positives for the Lady Pioneers led by underclassmen. SK didn’t back down from the talented senior and junior led HC in a physical game. Foul trouble for SK hurt the pressure they were able to apply late in the game. Fun, competitive game to watch.
  3. Good win for the lady Pioneers! 5 of their 6 losses have come to to 25 teams. They travel to #3 Cooper on Thursday.
  4. Several tough call went against the Pioneers in the last few minutes. That's the way it should be at home I suppose!
  5. Congratulations to SK senior Rylie Flynn on being named player of the game. Led all scoring with 16 points.
  6. Dixies is a physical team led by seniors and juniors. It was nice to see the young Pioneers ability to bounce back after a rough first half. Good to pull out a win in that type of game.
  7. I was looking at the Box score Montgomery shot 39 free throws for the game. Cooper is normal very disciplined on defense. In 2 home games Montgomery County has shot 72 FT in the two away only 32! Just an observation.
  8. Anyone have information on scrimmages this weekend or next?
  9. Final from Gallatin County. Simon Kenton will play in the semifinals against South Oldham Friday at Gallatin.
  10. The Pioneers play hard. No size inside to stop Hunt. I believe Holy Cross shot over 50% from the field and 40% from 3. They are a tough team with several ways to score the ball. With Hunt as a safety net inside, they can play free on offense and defense. SK made a run in the 4th to cut it to 3. Holy Coss was able to hold on. Good luck to both teams in their tournaments next week.
  11. For such a young group the Pioneers have shown a lot of growth. They have a lot of young talent, starting 3 freshman and a 8th grader. They should have a few solid years coming up.
  12. Simon Kenton holds off Spencer County in Independence. Good 8th Region win for the Pioneers.
  13. SK bounced back knocking off NDA in Independence. SK is very young starting an 8th grader and 3 freshman. Going to have growing pains, but they get after it.
  14. The fouls were being handed out in bunches. I believe the count was 27 SK and 30 for Ryle. Both teams were dealing with a very tightly called. It seemed that Ryle didn't/couldn't adjust their style of play and Simon did. SK is deep and can put multiple combinations on the floor. Ryle didn't seem to have much help off the bench. I also think Ryle was 0/?? from behind the arc.
  15. Big home win for the New Coach Stowers and the Lady Pioneers.
  16. SK has to take care of the ball better. To many turnovers lead to easy buckets. Webb was double teamed all night. They have to have someone step up and knockdown shots.
  17. I am not sure, but I believe game was canceled do to weather.
  18. Im pretty sure i saw on Fox19 that Ryle played MND tonight??
  19. Simon Kenton was able to keep it within 3 after one quarter. Then Ryle was able to get out in transition and started knocking down about 60 percent of their shots. Webb was unstoppable inside. But it's hard to trade 2s for 3s. If Ryle is able to shoot like that, with their athletes they are going to be tough. I'm not sure what the shooting percent ended up being for Ryle, but I'm sure it was high. Simon Kenton had stretches that looked good. Coach Stowers will not doubt have them better as the season progresses.
  20. Is anyone aware of any scrimmages in the next few weeks?
