That's not entirely true. The way you see most big upsets these days is by a team getting hot from 3 point range. Limiting possessions takes away the "law of large numbers" in some cases, but in others it can help the superior team. Just like college basketball should use quarters like every other level of basketball, high school should go to a shot clock. Probably 40 seconds.

People may not say it, but it absolutely happens. People show up to watch excitement, not paint dry. It's part of the issue with the sweet 16.

Middle of the 3rd quarter. Absolutely fine. Middle of the 4th? Nope. -

Perhaps, but outside of their win against schitzofrenic Paducah tilghman i don’t think they e won any games I wouldn’t have expected them to. Webster county isn’t as good as most thought they would be. They’re a nice middle of the pack region 2 team. Nothing more, nothing less. -
Yes, I agree. I also think it’s a ridiculous way to play a game. I don’t blame teams for doing it, but a massive majority of those in the game think it’s stupid. Every level of basketball, including aau now has a shot clock. It’s time for high school ball to implement one too. I’d contend it’s part of why the sweet 16 is suffering. The general basketball fan is used to seeing an exciting brand of basketball. They show up to the sweet 16 and they’re more likely to see a game in the 40’s or 50’s than in the 80’s. Most of all, the kids want it

Murray is the surprise of the season in west Ky. -
Not true. In football there are 4 downs. If you don’t get 10 Yards in 4 downs the other team gets the ball. In basketball, if you get the lead you can play keep away for 8 minutes. It’s happened. 40 seconds is an eternity. You can still grind it out but it at least gives the other team a chance.
-
Put a 40 second shot clock in. Stall ball isn't basketball. Wasn't meant to be a game of keep away. Was meant to be a game of trying to score and trying to stop a team from scoring.

Nice win for the Tigers. We go for the tournament win in Owensboro tomorrow against Owensboro Catholic. Sharp had a triple double. Including 12 blocks.

UHA was abysmal. clearly their worst performance of the year. LCA was OK, but i've watched most of UHA's games. Shoutout to the live stream. Great way to watch the game. When UHA attacked they scored. But they looked tired from the tip. They started pressuring and driving in the 4th and cut it to 5. I'll say this though. If UHA doesn't start rebounding they can't win against very good teams. If they do start rebounding they're really good. Their first shot defense is good. But they give up way too many offensive rebounds right now. -
article 2nd Region Review Week 3

What a great week of basketball in region 2. I'm proud of Hoptown with the adversity that we've faced. We've got some talent and the ability to defend. I just worry about our ability to score. But Coach Miller has done a great job. He's a breath of fresh air around the program. I'm of the opinion that we haven't gotten close to seeing the best basketball from Heights yet. I think this stretch over Christmas where they play some great competition will really for them to buckle down on the defensive end. I think they'll take their lumps at the KOB. I think they'll do pretty well at the Lex Cath tournament. But when they get back to region 2 i think they'll be very much improved. Madisonville is a very good team too. They played great against UHA, except from the line. But I don't think they'll get much better there. White and Casey aren't very good from the line and they take most of the shots. I look forward to seeing them play Hoptown. That will be a war. I think it's it's UHA, then Madisonville and Hoptown and then a big step down to the rest of the region. My top 10 right now would be. 1. UHA 2. Hopkinsville 3. Madisonville 4. Christian County 5. Henderson County 6. Webster 7. Caldwell 8. Central Hopkins 9. Union 10. Lyon -

Good deal. Let's hope so. I'll say this. UHA has better depth than people give them credit for. McGee and Quarrells would probably start for most every other team in the region. And Hall is starting to show some promise as a freshman with his size. And Will Bryan, once he gets back will be a solid guy off of the bench. I heard today he has a bad concussion.

I love the 8th district and I think UHA is really good. I also think there are some teams they can beat in the top 10. But I just don't see them as the #3 team in the state. But the great news is that we will find out how good they are this week. I'm picking LCA to beat them. But if they beat LCA and can run with Trinity then that means they are for real.

Ft. Campbell is a district game for Hoptown and County. And fair point on the Trigg County game. I just found it odd that McCracken would play them both in one week. McCracken is really really good. -

Ok, I’ll be the jerk and ask. What is McCracken doing playing Ballard and Lyon? -

Does Caldwell have any football players on their team? I know the talk in the old fifth district was that Livingston and Lyon always had an advantage because they had their entire teams practicing from the start. A team like Caldwell might have 1/3 of their roster out until the week before the season starts.
