Pretty fair. I think we handle Madisonville this week. Should be a good game but we match up well with Madisonville. -

the first technical was well earned. The kid cussed the ref like a red headed step child. That gets it every time. The second one was bs. Slammed the ball but caught it. Don’t think he said anything too bad. The third was well earned. Two hand shoved the kid. In terms of Tandy getting calls. Guys can’t stay in front of him so people foul him. He’s always in attack mode. That’s why he gets fouled so much. Guys just aren’t good enough to guard him. -
Notoriously bizarre early in the season. No different this year

Uha handed 3 teams their 2nd loss of the season in consecutive games. That’s a heck of a tournament for the blazers -

He’s 6’1 and has a very nice frame. You have to start with his raw athleticism. Elite leeper. 40 inch vertical. But what makes him an elite level prospect is his drive and work ethic. His ball handling is off the charts, he shoots a true jump shot that he can get whenever he wants. He is amazing at creating his own shot. He’s a much better defender than he used to be and is starting to rebound more. He needs to work in his passing. And at times if things aren’t going his way he disappears but that hasn’t happened much this year. He’s also incredibly level headed. Doesn’t talk trash, and even when he dunks on our 7’2 center he doesn’t show much emotion. He’s a terrific kid. I predict he will be an all big east guard if not more. He’s the best player in the state. No disrespect to Allen or Johnson intended. -

Newport/University Heights Predictions
Hoptown Tigers replied to NKYknowitall's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Should be a fun game. On paper UHA has beaten two teams that should Be better than Newport. But Newport is playing really well too. I think if UHA plays like they have the last two nights they should get the win but they h s shown a tendency to have trouble putting together multiple good performances in a row. -

Possible preview of the quarterfinals at the all a... -
UHA has had a string of impressive wins lately but this is clearly the best against a loaded and BIG Landstown VA team. They only had one loss coming into tonight and appeared to be a tough matchup for UHA. Two 6’6 athletes on the front line and impressive and athletic Guards. A d-1 signee in Michael Christmas (James Madison) was very good on the night. From what I can see the difference for UHA since their embarrassing effort against LCA has been the play of Taquan hollowell and team rebounding. Heights takes in Newport tomorrow in what could be a preview of an all A quarter final. Tandy- 34 points and 7 rebounds Hollowell- 14 poitns, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals McGowan- 9 points and 9 rebounds Wood- 3 points Crump- 2 points Bryan- 2 points and 5 rebounds Brown- 2 points

I think he was asking sarcastically as the person who accused Uha of playing stall ball had made some other interesting comments in another thread anoint why UHA won so comvingly. -

I didn’t see any stall ball. They attacked til the last 4 minutes. Irrelevant. Defense is what turned this game. Uha forced turnovers and turned them into easy buckets. -

Dear lord. That’s absurd. They couldn’t stay in front of him without fouling. -
Comprehensive victory for University Heights. Score wasn’t indicative of the whipping the Blazers put on Cooper in the second half. UHA led by 4 at the break after switching to an aggressive man to man half way through the first quarter. Their pressure in the half court was too much for the stall ball that Cooper was trying to run. I believe there was a stretch where Cooper turned it over on 4 straight possessions. UHA was led by Tandy with 22 points and Drew McGowan had 14. Taquan Hollowell has another strong performance in what seemend to be a double double. While Cooper is missing a key player This is still an important win for University Heights. Many didn’t believe they could beat a team like Cooper.

Lca won because Uha rebounded terribly. Once Uha started pressing lca actually struggled a lot. But Uha still couldn’t rebound. Like I said above. If Uha is able to hold their own on the boards they probably win this win by 7-10 -

Tandy had 6 last night and the Blazers still won comfortably. Frederick Douglas found out what happens when you focus everything on him. the Blazers are playing much better defense now. If they can get their defensive rebounding to a better spot they will be a VERY tough out. -
Cooper 40 Bardstown 33

It was stall ball. Both teams held the ball out front for 45 seconds to 1 minute on multiple possessions. -

Tilghman is trying to fit a lot of pieces together that didn't exist last year. If they're well coached they should be good by the end of the year. Murray has played a brutal schedule and has fared well and seems to be improving. Outside of the dunkfest that University Heights put on them and the Grind Session game they played in Memphis they've been in every game. -
