Interesting week thus far, #3 beat #4, #4 beat #5, and #5 beat #7. The game of the night, tonight, without question, both for NKY as well as the entire state, is Simon Kenton visiting Sacred Heart. Will definitely be worth watching!

Holy Cross comes back 24 hours after losing at Cooper to handle their business and defend their home court. Game was actually a little closer than I expected.

I coached boys and girls in middle school and I'm with you 100% -- you should teach your kids to defend. To help. To talk. To shade. NOT to sit in a zone, even when active, and play an area. I couldn't possibly agree with you more strongly than I do.

Holthaus. Used to be Sully's assistant, then became the best Girls' Basketball Coach since Nell Fookes with Cooper's girls, now taking over the boys' program this year at Cooper.

I'm not sure who wins, but I know these are my two favorite coaches in the area, and this will be the worst version of each program that we'll see for the next few years. It is only up for both of these programs under these two men. No one will enjoy tonight more than Sully and Justin, and rightfully so. They love to compete. They love each other. What a great combination.

Sneaky good game tonight out on 27, as #5 Ryle visits #7 Bishop Brossart. Ryle looking to bounce back from their home loss to Holy Cross, and Brossart looking to land their biggest win of the year in Coach Stamm's first season.

#3 knocks off #4 in Union last night. Was able to follow along with Mark Wehry last night, sounded like Brissey had a nice night, along with some big threes from Rankin. Noel is Noel, and Scott hit some big shots. Doesn't sound like Holy Cross was able to get A. Arlinghaus freed up for a lot of looks, so kudos to Cooper for their discipline on the defensive end. Wouldn't be shocked to see this rematch in the 9th Region finals if the bracket has them on opposite sides. Notre Dame, and Ryle, will have something to say about it, but these feel like the two best teams right now in the 9th.

The Cru wins comfortably and are the one seed in the 34th District. Welcome to NKU, Cru!! Lloyd and Dixie will have a spirited district semifinal to secure a Region tourney bid. Dixie won the first game with Lloyd by 7.

Yet another example of a coach failing miserably to teach his athletes a valuable life lesson. Instead, oh, we don't like the whistles, let's quit. Unless there was a player safety issue that went unaddressed, this is so bad.

Huge game tonight with #4 Holy Cross, fresh off their double-digit win over #5 Ryle in Union, traveling back to Union to take on #3 Cooper -- hope they get a big crowd for that one! Cooper is looking to snap their three-game losing streak, albeit all against top competition. Also, while not a mega match-up like the above game, we do have a big game tonight in the 34th with Lloyd traveling to St. Henry. St. Henry can wrap-up the #1 seed in the district with a win, having already beaten Dixie by 1 on January 16th.

Wow, they didn't bounce back from last night's disappointment like I thought they would. Fairly one-sided outcome, wow, bit of a shocker for me. Assume Finn had a bunch?

NBA and a college. If a defender is deemed to be inside an offensive player's cylinder, floor to ceiling, the defender is in violation. Either way, not a HS rule, so immaterial. To answer an earlier question, if the elbow strikes a face when it is deemed to be moving with the torso, it is an offensive foul. When it is deemed to have been "swung", not moving with the torso, it is an intentional. They ruled the latter last night.

Conner goes about 40 minutes north and snatches the win from The Rain.

Wow, 10 for 19 is serious work. That is a very solid win in Union for HC, ending the Ryle winning streak at 7 games.

Fresh off an OT loss to GRC, Portsmouth (OH) drops a nail-biter to Ashland. I've been to Portsmouth a hundred times, how or why do they have a Girls' Basketball team this good? Where are those kids coming from? I'm shocked they are this good, but good for them, that town needs things to cheer for.
