Was basically a foregone conclusion, but GRC makes it official winning the 10th in decisive fashion. They and Simon Kenton will meet in the semis in Lexington, assuming they both win their first two games, and while I expect GRC to win, it should be a great game. Kudos to Davey and the Camels, they had a terrific year, and they would have won a LOT of regional tourneys this year, but not the 10th. Really, really good season for Campbell County! Izzy, among others, will certainly be missed.

Many of you questioned my stance from December that Sacred Heart's run was over and Assumption was not only going to win the 7th, but would then do a lot of damage in Lexington. They left no doubt tonight at Atherton. They and GRC on a crash course at the Sweet 16!!! Congrats to the Valkyries on an INCREDIBLE run. So impressive.

I believe the HC Girls were also 0-6 from three in the first half last night, like the boys tonight, so maybe they can find similar results from the arc in the second half.

Notre Dame wins first 9th Region Tourney since 2013. Heartbreaking loss for Holy Cross who played great this year, somewhat short-handed, and did their school proud throughout.

Two tickets get punched tonight, 9th Region and the 16th. Twelve tickets get punched on Saturday the 7th. The last two invites get secured on Sunday.

They won the Queen of the Commonwealth Tourney and beat Sacred Heart in Louisville. The talent on the team wasn't the question. Were they as good as the Cooper teams that were crawling with D1 talent? No.

Since we know the 35th will have the 9th Region Champ in 2026, either Notre Dame or Holy Cross, a conversation yesterday came up about district winners...and just how dominant the 33rd has been since 1999. Here are the winners, since 1999, including the 35th winning this year: * 33rd: 13 times (Boone 5x, Cooper 4x, Ryle 3x, and Conner 1x) * 35th: 8 times (Holmes 4x, Notre Dame 2x (+ maybe this year), Holy Cross 1x (+ maybe this year)) * 36th: 6 times (NewCath 4x and Highlands 2x) * 34th: 1 time (Dixie 1x)

Holy Cross is going to complete the comeback and give us our first all 35th District 9th Region final since 2015. Only the 2nd region final since 2015 that has no 33rd District team in it. Other was 2021.
