Love that Brohm is recruiting part of Kentucky hard...but did he get lost on his way to Northern Kentucky? Butler and Mayer could easily play for the Boilers.

I don't disagree. Just trying to find out who is "more valuable". I think overall AJ Mayer was "more valuable" to CovCath than Rondale Moore was to Trinity. It's six one way have dozen the other. Moore's stats were incredible. If he is Mr. Kentucky Football then no gripes from me.

AJ Mayer. My only criteria...Taking AJ off of CovCath is a bigger loss to CovCath than taking Rondale Moore off of Trinity. Both are deserving though.

Exactly. Tahj Rice is on no one's second team. He is one of three four stars (according to Rivals) from Kentucky. They missed on him bad. Also, Kam Butler should have been defensive player of the year. I am sure the kid from Madison Southern is a great player, but you can't captain a defense who got running clocked at the end of the third quarter in the state game and be player of the year. By comparison, in 12 games against Kentucky opponents (other 3 were out-of-state) CCH gave up 89 points or 7.4 points per game.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... say what? AJ Mayer starts this past season for Moeller, Elder and LaSalle all day, every day. X had Chase Wolf whose going to Wisconsin and I’m not sure AJ doesn’t win that job too. Kam starts at all four GCL schools...easily and for multiple years. Dang, I guess every Ohio QB goes 18/25 for 350 a game all the time...

He did have a lot of offers. But, I think the point is that he and AJ only had one "Power 5" offer between them. Were they good enough to be in the Army All-American Game? Who knows. I do know, however, that they both could have played at Purdue, IU, UL, UK, UC and any other handful of teams in one of the Power 5 conferences. This goes to show how critical your Sophomore season is in the recruiting cycle. While both of these guys played, CCH had a down year and didn't have an older player who some of the colleges were after. Compare that to what Michael Mayer has experienced. Not taking anything away from the kid because he has all the tools a Power 5 is looking for, but to say he hasn't benefited from the enormous success of this team during his Sophomore year would ignore the obvious.

No dog in this fight, but CC win against MND is the best win any team in NKY has had this year.

Been watching high school football since the 1980's, and the best two NKY qb's I have seen personally are Lorenzen and Tolles. AJ is in that discussion. He was better than Pike and Barker and that's not a shot at either of those kids. Just my opinion. And, don't get me started on Kam... most under-recruited kid out of NKY in a long time. So the question is why? And I know in the age of the internet and Rivals and recruiting shows we think these colleges have some magic 8-ball that predicts which kids are Power 5, etc. They don't. It is still largely a copy-cat business. The only red-flag (and I use that term as loosely is possible) on these two kids is that they never got offered by UC or UK. It's the only possible knock on them that I can think of. The fact that the two major football schools within an hour of Griffin Stadium who could see them play on a regular basis did not offer probably raised questions that should never have been raised. I truly believe if those two schools would have offered, the flood gates would have opened up for both kids. Miami is getting an absolute steal on these two.

The minimum is 2,500 points but it gives the years played so its somewhat of a resource: https://khsaa.org/records/basketball/gbk-recordbook_indivteams.pdf How the school counts the points scored and when it "starts" is up to the school. The KHSAA recognizes all varsity points scored prior to a players 9th grade season. The NFHS does not. We all remember Whitney Creech. She is Kentucky's all time leading scorer with 5,527 varsity points (5th - 12th grade). Yes, she started in 5th grade before the rule change. For national purposes, however, her total is only 4,462 varsity points (9th - 12th grade).

Nothing personal. But, there has been six pages dedicated to this. A lot of great individual girls and great teams out there this year that deserve the six pages instead !!

You heard wrong. HC played One Soph, Two Frosh, an 8th grader and a 7th grader for a good chunk of the SECOND quarter, some of the THIRD quarter and ALL of the FOURTH. Give it a rest. Nothing to see here... move on.

High-end high school football will always be about population base whether its a public school or private school. If Boone County High School folded into Ryle and Connor folded into Cooper (or vice versa) you would create two 6A juggernauts overnight. Would that be unfair? Is it unfair that Scott County only has one high school? At the end of the day, you do your best to make it as fair as possible. No system for high school football is perfect.

Lots of talent in NKY this year, but you really need to see Schwartz and Scherr in the next few years before they graduate. There are "d1 kids" and then there are "D1 KIDS". They both fall in the latter. Wouldn't surprise me if they made a run at state and, then again, it won't surprise me if they don't get out of the 9th region.

Last comment on this... this score will not be an aberration after Beechwood plays the other top ten schools on their schedule. The JV score was 50-0 with a running clock and basically the same Beechwood kids played both games. Like another poster said, hopefully this year will help Beechwood in the years that follow. They are very young. I wish them well. Put simply, however, there was absolutely no attempt to run up a score in either game and anything to the contrary is #fakenews

^^^^This. For whatever reason, the clock didn't "run" until 4th quarter or late, late third quarter at best. Beechwood is EXTREMELY young. Almost all their kids played both the JV and Varsity games. HC had an excellent shooting night and played the entire bench. Press called off after it was 12-0. The only thing HC could have done is hold the ball or play keep away and that is way worse than just letting them "play."
