  1. I'm not entirely sure the sample size is that small - especially with the disastrous results.
  2. Yeah, I did notice that when we played St. X (Cin) at home, they had collars around their necks. I had initially thought that they were GPS devices (similar to those worn by some professional soccer players to measure exertion as well as distance). Pretty neat stuff!
  3. Good points. I think that may partially be due to the education these kids receive regarding head injuries. I can recall three separate times I blacked out in a game and didn't come out for more than a few plays. (One is caught on video where I get up and take two steps and almost fall over....on my way to the wrong huddle!)
  4. I fell like there have been more concussions these past two years than years past. Is this because they (coaches/trainers/doctors) are being more cautious with any kind of head injury, or is it because of the increased physicality of HS football in NKY? Are you seeing more concussions on your team this year or no?
  5. As a Birds fan, as much as we need Huddy I would rather him sit it out this year. He's young and very valuable to this program next year and the following year. I don't want him to injure himself further over a few games when we won't be going anywhere anyway.
  6. Platooning isdor the weak. You play who will win you games. When you're not winning games, you go back to who will win you games. Who cares how many kids touch the field. This isn't kindergarten. You don't get a participation trophy.
  7. The best tackler on our defense is #19, Nick Bowman LB. #27 Steiden tackles pretty well, as does #2 Armstrong (who admittedly missed a few last night)
  8. I'd beg to differ, based on the poll, this thread, and many other posts that have been made.
  9. So you're of the belief that the current scheme and play calling, as well as the culture created by the coaching staff is not why this team has not been very good for the past 2 years, and not looking very good this year?
  10. Yeah, not an official one anyway. They still play Fort Thomas Junior football....or one of the other local programs in a different league. They should probably change that...
  11. I'm surprised he didn't run faster than that. His game speed certainly indicates that he's faster than a 4.7.
  12. Have you watched these games this year? Last year? I have been at every game. If you can't see that we continue to do the same old thing with the same players, you're blind. Take last year's terrible team for example. No creativity. No misdirection. We likely had the worst secondary in NKY and continued to play the same kids. Outside of Bradley Greene, it was dismal play...yet they ran the same kids out there and put them in the same position. How many interceptions did we have as a team last year? 3. 3 picks all year. We eclipsed that in the first game this year by two. Did our defense score at all last year? I think I remember one. How many underclassmen did they play? When you're losing the way they were losing, you shake it up and put in some underclassmen. Make the seniors know that they don't have their spot on lock down...light a fire. The team last year was completely devoid of emotion and intensity. I'll say they are a different team this year, at least in that respect. This team is small, but Highlands has never been big bruisers. There's talent here.
  13. That is astounding, seriously. The talent he has isn't common at all. He would make a great addition that could certainly contribute early to a program, especially on special teams. Would make one hell of a return man with the speed, vision, and slipperiness.
  14. Right. Pretty obvious no one has been able to tackle him this year. Does he have any scholarship offers? Kid is tough.
  15. At the same time, the JV last year won 7 or 8 games I believe...and plenty of those kids are starters now.
  16. Yeah.....guy can't be that good with about 1,000 all purpose yards and 13 TDs after four games. Straight hype. Seriously?
  17. You realize their region is without question the toughest in the state, right? Many times the two best teams in the state meet in the R4 final, with the winner taking state.
  18. Looking at the yardage, possession, YPP....you'd think this was a game won by a FG. Almost 950 total yards in this one!
  19. I agree completely. The run game for us wasn't happening at all. Wilson was not 100% and the sophomores weren't getting any ground either. Would have liked to see some more Veneman deep post and Wogan with an in or out under him.
  20. Also, I can't edit a post on the game update thread, but I'll post here. The comment about play calling and keeping jobs was 100% uncalled for. It was a frustrating game, but I never should have made that comment. I apologize to any coaches, players, or fans of HHS that saw that.
  21. That's a ridiculous comment. We don't have ENOUGH talent maybe, but to sit there and say that Bowman, Veneman, Steiden, Schwalbach, M. Schwalbach, Wogan, and the like aren't talented. We need more talent.
