Tougher to get talent to hoptown now that we don't have school choice... wonder how well he will adjust? Hopefully we'll.

Terrific game. Happy for our team. Just don't think we can make a run in lexington, or frankly, win tonight playing the way we did in our comeback. If I'm henderson i'm pretty ticked at the inconsistency in the officiating from about the middle of the 3rd quarter on. The "pushoff" called on their guy was REALLY bad. Chris Jung from the new era had it happen right in front of him and he caught it on video. Barely even extended the arm. We dialed up the physicality and pressure and henderson wore down. Did I see that they return something like 10 seniors next year? With us losing several key contributors and not having a ton of young talent, county losing two key contributors and heights losing holowell maybe our reign ends next year?

Yes, the region doing the super regional in east ky didn't get rid of district tourneys. They gave the district tourney winners buys. Think the runnrers up got the next 4 seeds and then they seeded based off of region/district records after that. Not exactly sure how it worked

Huh? Both teams in the district final make the regional no matter what. District tourneys wouldn't go away... you'd just have all 15-16 teams make the regional and it would be seeded with the dirstrict tourney winners getting the top seeds.

And the stupidity of the regional draw is exposed again. I think every region to go with a "super regional" Henderson is right there with us and county. We've been inconsistent and I'm not sure we can beat Henderson and county back to back nights.

Jalen is so tough. Love That kid. Feel like he's under-utilized. Sometimes I think he's the better guy with the ball in his hands

I agree 100%. I've watched myself coaches stage fake signing day ceremonies in order to make it look like they are getting their kids to college. Kids who have the talent but aren't making the grades or aren't getting the help from the high school coaches. It's a shame. We've seen it a lot here.

So what about ceremonies for kids who are playing for a club team?

Several schools are having signing day ceremonies for academic scholarships too. Which is terrific.

Nope. Read what I said. I said that my problem is with kids who sign fake papers when they aren't even playing real games. See my comments about jefferson community college. And I know that NAIA offers "scholarships" But they are not like NCAA schools. again, I said that I think a kid should hold a signing ceremony when they are going to a real school and playing on a real team...

There is nothing signed when you are walking on... For NAIA there isn't a letter of intent. for division one you do sign a letter of intent if you are receiving a scholarship. But when a kid "signs" with Georgetown or something similar it's often just their financial aid paperwork. That's my understanding.

I don't necessarily have a problem with a signing ceremony, even if you're going to KWC, or Georgetown. But to act as if it's a scholarship is silly at best and disingenuous at worst. The one's that bug me are the one's that are driven by the high school coach and are designed to make it look like the kid is getting a great deal when in fact they aren't getting anything and are likely going in debt just to be on a roster. The absolute worst is what i referenced above. Which is a signing ceremony to go on a club team. It's happened at County and hoptown the last couple of years for the JCC club team... It's embarrassing. It puts the local media in a bad spot because they're being asked to cover something that is disingenuous but to expose this they'd have to make a kid look bad. It's really silly and sad.

Poor choice of words on my part. COunty was ripe to be beaten. (i think uha matches up well with them). UHA couldn't rebound and two of the fouls called on tray hollowell were absolute phantom calls. One he wasn't even close to the play. The ref just missed it. The other, he gave the wrong #. That crew was LOST on both ends. We might win Thursday night, but with how County is now punishing folks on the boards is why I don't think we will beat them when it matters next week in the regional. It's why i picked them to win the region before the season. When Trice, Ware and Sebree crash the boards there is nobody in the second region that can keep them off of the boards. I think Trice has grown 3 inches since last year. All 3 of those guys are 6'5-6'7 and sebree and trice are TERRIFIC athletes and ware can push people around. We just don't have an answer for them. Espcially when they attack the basket. Hope i'm wrong but we refuse to slow the game down like you have to against them and force them to shoot from outside. Credit to Grant Shouse. That's what he did against them when UHA beat them and what he did last night. County is the best team in the region and I'm not sure it's very close.

Julian tacket calls it the "cocktail party offers". Meaning, I'm going to georgetown to sit on the bench for a $250 meal card in order for my parents to be able to tell their friends that "my son is playing ball at georgetown". In reality, if the kid had spent more time working on school he could have gotten $7,500 because of good grades. It's why specialization is bad, it's why fooling yourself into thinking you can get college paid for is bad etc... Much of it is pushed by the high school coach for their own benefit. We see kids in Hopkinsville doing signing ceremonies on fake sheets of paper that say they are going to play for the club team at jefferson community college. (this is not sarcasm or a joke) It happens... It's reached a ridiculous point.

Interesting games tonight. Heights had county on the ropes early but Some interesting officiating really took the steam out of this one. I'm worried about us vs county... if they keep rebounding as well as they have I'm not sure if we can win.

Remarkable that district 8 could be so dominant. And I don't see it changing next year though I do see heights jumping christian county.

I'm nervous about Henderson. I hope they are on the opposite side of the regional bracket from us.

Disagree. It is different with fort campbell. And as a coach it absolutely is disrespectful to say "we aren't losing to team x". Especially when the kids on the team are the sons of those who defend us. call me old fashioned but I'm disappointed in my team's coach for this. Further, if you heard how he said it on the radio, you'd understand even more. It was an arrogant statement if there ever was one.
