On the boy's side it is difficult for a freshman to make an impact in the varsity games against good competition. Size, strength, physicality, intensity is much different then the U14-15 club level, even the top MRL division where you only go up against kids your same age, similar size and strenght. And taking nothing away from his ODP accomplishments, making the ODP regional team is nice, but ever since the DAs came on board, the ODP programs have been severly watered down.

Thomas Cody is my pick for NKY top goal keeper in NKY and one of the top keepers in the state. He has the full package, great size, quickness, good hands, makes quick decisions, and is not afraid to attack the ball, he has great command of the box. And experience, he was the starter last year for about the last half of the season through the State finals. I heard Ross has transferred to Boone Co.

Do I care that my kids never had to cut to grass on their HS's athletic field, pick rocks, paint the fence...? I appreciate the schools they attended provided the facilities which allowed my kids time to be more productive doing other very worthwhile things such as volunteering at urban education centers, food banks, hospitals, nursing homes to name a few. Do I feel my kids' time were better spent volunteering to help the less fortunate instead of cutting grass, picking rocks at their HS soccer field, yes 100%.

My first ever post on a baseball thread, I'm not a baseball person. I am a HS sports fan in general and do occasionally read the different threads in season. This one caught my eye. First the title is Best Fields in KY so not sure why Moeller (OH) is even mentioned. Second, the title does not ask Best Fields in KY Maintained by Their Own Players and Staff. Who care how takes care of the field if it is a nice facility, I'm good. My kids played soccer, never ONCE did I say to myself, wow what a nice field but I don't like it if it is not maintained by the players. Personally I appreciated my kids having more time to study, work on their game and volunteer out in the community Vs working on their HS's sports field. I sense some animosity toward Moeller HS.

No doubt replacing Lamb's 34 goals will not be easy. I don't see one player duplicating this offensive output but I do think CCH will have a very balanced team. Cody is very strong in goal, Dietz at CB, expect Russo to play Cmid, Deimling following up his 10 goals/16 assists season as a sophomore and having Blom for a full season are 5 players any team would love to build around. Add Ventre, Seibert, Wulfeck, and 3 youngsters with good pedigree Wessels, Darpel, Stava, and you get a good idea of the talent and experience CCH will put on the field this coming season.

Would agree with mexitucky, Ryle and CCH are talented and will be the early favorites in the 9th region. CCH have won back to back region 9 titles and are the 2016 KY State Finalist. They return 6 to 7 starters from last year's team and will add a talented group of to be juniors and maybe a couple to be sophomores that played JV last season. Heard CCH will be playing Moeller in the Trinity (Louisville) tournament. They will also play OH D3 State Champs Summit Country Day on the road and host Elder. Last season they also played @ Walnut Hills, (believe Walnut Hills dropped CCH for this season), @Anderson and @Seven Hills. Have not heard any word if the latter two are on CCH's schedule for 2017. Would also like to see CCH add La Salle, who should have a good team once again this season. For an early look at the NKY teams, CCH will host the NKY Boys Soccerama at their renovated stadium on August 3,4,5.

Not sure why some continue to question the play of Walter. It is still very, very early in his development. Most teenagers his size are slower to develop in many athletic aspects when compared to more average size players. It has been noted on here he is a very young junior and how much BB has the kid played? Wasn't he more of a football player in middle school and freshman yr of HS? And he is at best CCH's 5th (scoring) option, maybe 6th or 7th. It has also been mention on BGP that Walter is attracting some interest from college coaches. Nothing personal but I trust college coaches' evaluation over BGP commentators. I'm not picking on Wurtz from NCC, but did he score last night? No one asking "what did Wurtz do?" Or commenting "That's not good for a kid his size. Granted not a chance he is as tall as they annoumce. Seems to frequently underperform" When I watch Walter play I see a kid that has worked his butt off, has great footwork for a 6'-10' (or however tall he is) 16 yr old. Plays with passion and 100% accepts his role. I'll take him on my team every chance I get.

Great matchup, two very quick, athletic teams. Both have 3 legitimate scores and a supporting cast that understand their roles. Good coaching, good fans, about everything you can ask for in a final. CCH by 5 in a game much closer then the final score.

Confused by NCC's rotation most of the game. Wurtz on the bench early, often and for long stretches without being in foul trouble, why? Numerous times during the game, even in the 3rd and beginning of the 4th qt (when they should be trying to cut into the big CCH lead) they had 4 players on the court that had zero points. They played 8, 9, maybe 10 players from beginning to end, just never got into any rhythm. Does NCC typically go that deep down the bench? Would it have helped to keep your primary scorers on the floor together for longer stretches of the game?

Apologize for temporarily kidnapping the thread, but after watching the Champions League this week, wow the amount of really good young players making an impact on their teams in Europe is unbelievable. As an example, Bayer Leverkusen average age for their starting lineup on Tuesday was 23 yrs old. Hate to say it but the US on the mens side appear to be falling even further behind in developing world class players. May be a long stretch of 3 and done WC results...if we even qualify.

Upsets happen, but I highly, highly doubt any team will "breeze" past either Cooper or CCH, let alone "breeze past the two of them."

Sir!, the one thing in your post #17 I would comment on is you point out that most US male teenagers currently playing in Europe are DA products (except those raised over there). Huge difference playing in Europe as a teenager Vs playing for a US DA. Question is will Pulisic and a few others be good enough to carry the MNT to a WC qt final, maybe a semi final berth? IMO, we need a whole lot more teenagers moving to Europe asap. Love your post #18, agree with a lot of your comments. I have to wonder if the players and their parents are hearing anything even close to this at the DA informational meetings.

Put me down in the "not surprised at all column" the NT rosters are being filled by players going out of the DAs, especially on the girls side where it is very, very rare for them to play in Europe as teenagers. My point in asking if the DAs will be successful (success being defined by producing players that win meaningful WC games) was not what programs will the players filling the NT team rosters come from but will these rosters in the next cycle actually win WC pool play games that enable them to advance and win games in the elimination rounds? At this point this should be the goal and expectation of every US soccer fan, anything less is a disappointment. Love this quote from nkysoccerparent. "Athletes don't have to give up high school to play D1 football, basketball, or baseball." I think you can also add volleyball, softball, track, hockey, etc, etc? Makes a ton of sense to ask this of the soccer DAs, why do soccer players have to give up playing HS soccer when athletes playing every other sport or almost every other sport are being offered D1 scholarships while continuing to play HS?

From my count there are 70 DAs on the girls side, I think around 100 on the boys side, and I assume both adding clubs each year. And how many of the DAs have multiple teams per age group? On this thread it was mentioned the CDA will have two teams per age group, is this truly more about development or making money? Is this another attempt by US Soccer to help the MNT and WNT become more competitive or is it more about the (making) money? Clearly both national teams are struggling, the MNT may not even qualify for the 2018 WC, the WNT is nowhere as dominate on the world stage as they once were. Years ago US Soccer came up with ODP, IMO it has failed with regard to developing (high quality) players (that can get results when it counts) for the full national teams. Has it been successful in generating money, likely. It seems US Soccer comes up with a new idea every decade or so at an attempt to produce a World Cup (Championship) contender, will this latest idea, the DAs finally be the answer?

Congrats to all 4 , Snow, Stava, Schutt, and Vogt!!! All four are high quality players and young men. They will be missed, but like everyone before them, new talent will rise up to take their respected places in their programs. All the best going forward to all 4. I would agree with Allamerican21 and YC, I look for this to have a large impact on the quality of play on the NKY Girls HS game. And I think it could lead to more local dominance for the elite HS programs. Your programs with more depth, a NDA and HHS as example can likely still field competitive teams. The next level programs will feel the effect of the CDA more IMO. A program that relies on one or two high level players to carry them could be in real trouble maintaining their past success without having these one or two players. One additional thought, in then end this could really swing the Girls KY State Championship back to favor of the Louisville area schools once again. Until the CDA can draw an equal number of quality players away from a Sacred Heart, etc, (I just don't see this happening), NDA will still likely dominate the NKY area but their success in the State Championship will be impacted by the CDA.

Sloppy game IMO. CCH staff, especially Ruthsatz looked to be none to happy. And on a night CCH beat a "top 10" team by 19.

Not offended one bit, but disagree. If CCH for what ever reasons decided they wanted to play it at home it's 100% their prerogative. If you take this argument (need to move big games to bigger venues) why does Duke not move the NCC game out of Cameron Arena, which now holds just over 9000 for a game that arguably would sell 30000 plus?

As of 3PM today plenty of tickets available. Question for the folks on here who obviously follow HS BB with a passion. Is there an argument to be made one or both of these two teams are not overly worried about tomorrow night's result, besides playing well? Will they not completely show their hands, holding back a bit for the more important game later this season?

Sounds like Bacigalupo (CCH AD) and the BB staff doing what CCH does so well with most if not all of their teams, they play a very diversified, highly competitive regular season schedule that prepares them for the all important post season. Good luck tonight.

I heard Jackson Jalovec (Oak Hills) played with the KHA Red 19s, and not only did he play terrific, he likely played himself into a permanent spot. This kid is a great shot blocker and has a huge upside, D1 potential.

The result between NCC and St X today should provide some insight into how close NCC is to CCH at this time in the season. NCC lost to Dixie by 6 on Thursday, St X looses to CCH by 26 last night. NCC has an extra day of rest which should be a factor. NCC also looking for their first win, given the intangibles is it safe to say NCC by 10 or more?
