  1. If you don't base it on the names of the tournaments they have played and actual teams I would say the gap isn't as big as you say. Spencer County went to the mountains and beat Shelby Valley who is ranked second in their region. All three Oldham County schools in five days. Bowling Green and Warren Central in a two day period. I believe those are the top two teams in fourth region. The gap is not what you might think. Collins, Woodford County, St. X coming up. I will say the final part of the Spencer County schedule is a drop off. Time to get ready for post season but up to this point schedule strength isn't that far off.
  2. Don't think there is a conspiracy at all. Just think that it shouldn't be given to a senior if it's not warranted. By the end of the year we will compare stats, degree of competition, and results of games. When we do that I think he will be right there. If you go by the first third of season he has equalled or has done better than all favorites. Please show me where I am incorrect. Spencer County plays Collins next week so there will be a good litmus test.
  3. Really don't care who has signed with who. It's about this high school season and who has played the best. Up to this point in season Conley has been as dominant as McKnight and Powell against an equal level of competition. Conley just doesn't get the pub. He dominated Warren Central last night with his athleticism. Coming off 30 points against Bowling Green and 25 against Holmes. He had 26 against North Oldham and Powell. The difference is that he is equally as dominant on the defensive end.
  4. I definitely think McKnight will get it and is deserving but when season is over and we compare numbers and strength of schedule it will be pretty even and Conley is a junior.
  5. Have you been following what Conley has been doing against top level competition? He played Powell to a draw head to head. The only reason he won't get it is because coaches are biased to give it to a senior.
  6. Spencer's Sam Conley was the best player on the floor against Warren Central and against Bowling Green. He's making quite the statement for 8th region player of the year.
  7. Intense game that went to overtime. Warren Central probably glad that they don't play in the 8th region. Losing back to back games to South Oldham and Spencer County. They are a good team though. WC has some weapons.
  8. Bowling Green got out to a big lead. Spencer County made a furious comeback getting within four with a minute left but ended up losing by around 6 I believe.
  9. Trying to get a feel for Woodford County. Before Spencer County played Madison Southern this weekend I saw that Woodford County had lost by 25 to them. I was expecting a very difficult game but Spencer led the whole game and won by 11. Then I see Woodford beat Oldham. Sounds like a very inconsistent team.
  10. Spencer County wins third game in the RW Baird Hoop Classic in Danville. Beating Lafayette on Friday and Madison Southern earlier today. Went 3-0 in classic.
  11. Spencer County wins second game in the RW Baird Hoop Classic in Danville. Beat Lafayette on Friday.
  12. Hardin's mom just updated on Facebook and said that he was cleared by doctor to play and will play tonight. Great news!
  13. Trevor Hardin's mom posted on Facebook a few weeks ago that he would be having season ending ankle surgery in January. I don't know if that is still the plan. He has horrible ankles. During the past two AAU seasons he's had multiple severe ankle sprains. She mentioned wanting him to be ready for his senior year. Great kid! Hope he gets back to himself.
  14. Good article in the Courier Journal about the resurgence of the eighth region. Mentions Collins, all three Oldham County Schools, Spencer County, and Simon Kenton.
  15. Woodford knocked off Oldham County this weekend. Looks to be a dangerous team.
  16. I'm kind of holding out on my opinion of Anderson County until they play some better teams. I don't know if they can score enough points to stay with the better teams in the region.
  17. East had been missing one of their starters for a few weeks due to heart issues. His second game back was last night. I look for East to start making some noise in the next few weeks. Solid team.
  18. Great meeting you also! I'm sure we'll get to talk more in the future. Your analysis this past week is pretty much spot on for what I am seeing. The only thing I might not agree on is where you have Simon Kenton ranked. I don't think they have enough to compete with these five teams (Collins,Oldham, South Oldham, North Oldham,Spencer). Good Job!
  19. I don't think Spencer County is looking for participation trophy. I think the schedule sets up to be extremely difficult but they aren't worried about 20 win seasons anymore (already did that the last three years). Wins in the playoffs are what matter to everyone. So they found out last week they are right in the mix. Spencer might have a losing record going into the middle of January but they should be ready. If there is a season ending injury to any of their top four players then all bets are off. The last part of the schedule will allow for rest.
  20. Against NO missed three at buzzer to go to overtime and lost by four at home to SO. Two of the top 3 teams in region. Pretty successful.
  21. Oldham played Trimble County and won by 50 with a deep bench. Spencer played three of the top four teams in 5 days. As Colonel Mike said those games were played at high intensity playoff level. If you think fatigue didn't have an effect on last night's game then I don't know what to tell you. The first five minutes of last night's game showed that.
  22. Yes it did. Because of Oldham County's style and depth it would have definitely helped Spencer to play them first over these last five days. Much harder to defend and attack Oldham than North or South. Especially when you have nothing left in the tank. I bet Oldham was licking at the chops before last nights game. Hopefully they will meet up at regionals.
