  1. I guess if you haven't been watching Spencer County the last four years then you don't know how important the point guard is to that team. He doesn't score a lot of points but he runs that team setting everybody else up, handling the ball against pressure and not turning the ball over while being one of the best defenders on that team. So when he sits out for over a quarter and your team gets down 26 and when he comes back and your team darn near wins the game I guess that might be a factor. My question to you is Collins still a contender considering they lost to Simon Kenton? You asked that question after Spencer County lost to Collins. The answer to that question is that there are probably 6 or 7 contenders in the 8th. Pick a night and any of those teams can upset each other.
  2. Still don't know how that had anything to do with your original post on other thread where you pointed out that Spencer was down 26 to a team that had just lost to Ballard by forty points with no mention that St. X was missing two starters. I would guess you were pointing out that Spencer County must be pretty bad. Just letting you know that a fully loaded St. X team probably doesn't get smacked like that. Spencer got down 26 when their starting point guard was out for over a quarter getting medical attention. When he came back it was all Spencer County from there in out. You asked if they made their comeback against the bench players and I stated that no St. X played their starters throughout. St. X had all players today. You weren't at game so I was trying to give details. Technically Spencer County was missing their point guard for over quarter if you want to discuss who is missing players. Just trying to give details for the people who aren't there. Especially to the ones making assumptions.
  3. Don't get your point. Spencer County played horrible last night but played great today? Simon Kenton lost to Grant and then beat Collins today. Different games. Different matchups. Your comparison earlier didn't mention that St.X was missing two starters. Just making sure you realized that. Yes, Woodford County was missing a starter against Spencer. Not sure where your trying to go.
  4. I saw you mentioned in earlier thread that St. X got beat down by Ballard by 40 something. You do realize St. X was missing two of their starters? Any team missing two starters is probably going to be at a huge disadvantage against Ballard.
  5. One minute into game Spencer County's starting point guard Jake Whitlock took a finger in the eye and sat out for a quarter and a half. St. X built a 26 point lead. Once he came back it was all Spencer County and St.X had their main players in the whole game. Nobody out for the flu. When Spencer County plays like that they are very good. They have been in a funk hopefully they are coming out of it.
  6. I heard Penn will be out four weeks. Spencer County is in a rut right now. Not playing the way they were early in the season. Still a good win on the road. The kid that took Penn's spot had more points than Penn's average. I believe the kid had only played 5 games this season. Spencer County has shot poorly all season and is 11-6 against the regions second ranked schedule. If they can ever get it going they would be extremely dangerous. Hasn't happened yet.
  7. If they play as bad as they did tonight they will have many more losses. Shocking.
  8. Noah Gordon plays for Pike in Indianapolis.
  9. How many assist and rebounds did McKnight have? Not just about points.
  10. Box score: Collins Thompson 18 McKnight 16 Turner 10 Eden 8 Vail 7 Hawley 4 Scriber 4 McAlmont 2 Spencer County Conley 20 Whitlock 15 Hornback 7 Mabrey 4 Howie 3 Nichols 2 Jaggers 1
  11. He's amazing. He scored and set everybody up. His handles impressed me the most.
  12. I'll agree with you on everything but better coached. When you have better talent every year you tend to look a little better than you are. Next year we'll get a measure of how good Gaither is because for the first time he won't have the talent upper hand.
  13. Collins defense was great. Spencer County shooting was not good. Collins bottled up Conley all night. McKnight was impressive. He took over the game.
  14. Technical on Burns. Conley's been bodied pretty hard all game. Not getting the call. Collins is playing well.
  15. Collins up 30-18 at half. Spencer County struggling. Credit to Collins defense. Impressed by their defense.
  16. I was wondering the same thing. If he played and Western Hills won by that many I would be surprised.
  17. If Powell doesn't come back then it would be McKnight first and Conley second at this time.
  18. All I can say is wow! First off I'm not Sam Conley's dad. I'm glad some people on here know that fact. That's hilarious that you made that assumption because I "talk up Spencer County". I would be proud to be his dad though. Great kid! I watch a lot of AAU and high school basketball and I have watched Conley in those arena's and he is as good as any of the guys your talking up. Are you the father of the Powell kid for talking him up? That is hilarious. We can differ in opinions but claiming someone is a child's father because they defend how good they are is kind of lame. This season Conley has played equally as good and has been as dominant in big games. That's just a fact. Go ask Warren Central or Bowling Green how good he is. Anyway this conversation is in the wrong thread. Move it over to 8th region thread.
  19. Where do I begin? LOL So you say he is not in the conversation? You say unless he has a monster game against Colliins and Spencer County wins then he's in the conversation. So he's one game away from being in the conversation with you? I see all your offensive stats ,where I might add Conley is the number two scorer in the region, but where are we going to talk about him being a lock down defender. I value a player that plays both sides of the ball and McKnight and Conley are probably the two best defenders in the region. You mention that McKnight's numbers would be better if it wasn't for Vail? You do realize Spencer County has probably the most balanced scoring starting five in the region. Besides Conley averaging double figures there are three other starters averaging 14.7, 12.3., 9.2. I'm guessing that probably takes away from Conley's averages also. I would say a whole lot of teams could say the same thing. Conley is shooting 47% from the field. Not too shabby. I'd be interested to know how many times you have seen Conley play in person? There is a thing called the eye test and Conley has been dominant against the very good teams.
  20. Spencer County took out starters three minutes into second half. After looking at how Nelson did against Woodford County and Anderson County I was expecting a better game.
  21. I think you would agree Trinity probably shouldn't be ranked. Those are preseason rankings. I believe South Oldham, North Oldham, Warren Central, and Bowling Green were all ranked in the preseason Courier Journal top 20. They have both played very difficult schedules. Up to this point I'm just saying there isn't some big gap. It's pretty close.
